On TinyRC.com, we have a "Support the Forums" Icon that people post in threads and in their sigs to emphasize the importance of supporting the Forums by purchasing from the Shop. After seeing a number of "what shop? there's a Mini-ZRacer.com shop?!" and "b a n n e d u r l" posts recently, we thought it would be fun to have a contest to design a "Support the Mini-ZRacer.com Forums" icon! Guidelines are pretty wide open, note that the final version will be scaled down to fit in inline posts and sigs, but feel free to post entries at higher resolutions. Please don't target specific other sites in your entries, as much as we'd all like to see Calvin performing certain functions over a dumbball (sp) logo, obviously we couldn't use that! Oh, prizes! Winner will receive:

Mini-ZRacer.com Racing Dry Bearing Set for Overland - 9PCS
http://mini-zracer.com/shop/product.php?pid=767

Mini-ZRacer.com Ceramic Ball Set - 6PCS
http://mini-zracer.com/shop/product.php?pid=446

Mini-ZRacer.com Carbon Fiber O-Plate
http://mini-zracer.com/shop/product.php?pid=403

That's over $50 in prizes! Deadline TBD, start posting your entries now, enter as many times as you like! :)

Right, I guess that means no more work to be done today then , TGI friday... etc, etc...

Static icons only, or can we use animations (.gifs etc...)??

yugo, your on the right track...but the previous ones are tooo big. here is the trc icon (http://tinyrc.com/forums/images/smilies/bit/tiny_icon.gif) so you can get an idea fo what the intention's i think should be as these will be located in sugnatures and for the benefit of all members we don't want half page signatures that take forever to load and require you to scroll significantly more just to get to the actual post. i won't mention names but there are a few such sig's already... in my ipnion, it just becomes annoying when they are enormous, i actually feel mine is bordering on being too big, but maybe it's there's soo much in it... mini-z will have to clarify size restictions but i would suggest working with the shop banners above size and smaller.

the tag is a good idea though!, you could even get creative and tailor it to each members state of residence...it would signify support and show location of support;)

cian, that is very funny:D

Hehe, nice! Animation is fine! RE size, Arch2B is correct, just off the cuff I would say 50x50 may be as large as you'd want to go, but don't take that number too seriously, as if you need a different dimension to really do your idea justice, go for it! :)

By the way! That's my wife! I did a banner for her business and ran it on the side of my DTM car on-line racing simulator.

I've no time, but for an animated .gif version...

Some one do the tiny RC sized image arch posted, and put the MZR.com logo at top of this page (compressing it might look bad) in the center but a little crooked... then have the tiny RC finger silouett come in and straighten it... :).

Thus TinyRC support for MZR.. visa versa... perfect way to union the two in the image...

Ken, I REALY like your icon!

Is it okey to "borrow" it for personal use?

Ken Mifune

Fine with me, but it is David's logo. Ask him.

Clever icon Ken! Suggestion to make it a lighter silver for greater visibility? UW, please do use it if Ken says it's okay! :)

Ken Mifune
2003.10.31, 01:03 AM
Should I make the background a little lighter to make the wrench stand out? If I also make the wrench lighter the white letters will get lost. I'll try it tomorrow.

perhaps it needs a yellow border?

Just a thought on which ever icon is chosen... Is it easy to make it a hyperlink to the shop for anybody that uses it?

My first entry.

Simple but affective...

Ken Mifune
2003.11.03, 01:32 AM
After seeing the last entry I realized that I utilized my layered Photoshop file of the Mini-ZRacer.com logo for this contest. Maybe that's unfair so if anyone wants them I can post the individual layers (if that will help anyone) but only if everyone promises not to abuse it.
'zat cool wit you David?

Maxum Motors
2003.11.03, 01:56 AM
Ken, you posted a layered File? Wish i knew that before i went to all the trouble of croping it out!

Ken Mifune
2003.11.03, 02:30 AM
I didn't post a layered file. I don't think you can. I was saying that I had used my layered file of the logo for my "wrench" icon. Not alot of the newer members know but I designed the Mini-ZRacer.com logo. So it's easier for me to incorporate the logo into anything new (like a shop support icon). You said yourself "...i went to all the trouble of croping it out!" and after seeing the last couple of entries I thought I would offer to post the individual layers to save other members some time in the future. It's not as good as having the actual layered file but it might help some. and only if it's OK with David.

cian,
I think the idea is for people to click the link,
and buy from the shop, not go into seizures!! ;-)

ken,
yours is best so far.
(but what do you use an end wrench on for your mini-z's? ;-)

okay, final version.
It's smaller but still clear. Especially the ".com"
and the wrench is more shiny.
When the background is cropped out the icon should be 97x 26 pixels.

kind of like a cross between the tinyrc.com logo,
and the original miniz promo pics.

the only problem using MZR instead of minizracer, is that there actually IS a MZR.com.

And it has nada to do with 1/24 scale RC racing!!
