I figured I would start this thread to find out what track everybody wants to run each week, seeing as how recently i have been the first one to the hobby shop each week and could start without waiting for others to get there for their opinion :D This week i am thinking a really big oval on the rough side

Anything is fine with me. I've got a bunch of tire sets for the XMod and a couple sets for the Z.

Ninja

Eric, i fugured this would be a good way to see what the handeling will be like on your new Z without making it too technical

ChattavegasSE

image code is on... if your truing to get images from the gallery you have to right click/properties and cut/paste the url from there. if you grab the url from teh top of the gallery page it will not show as an image because your referencing a webpage not an image. you shouldn't have any problems posting links or images from the gallery here. i tend to stay away from free hosting site stuff as it's always crammed with ads and other unwanted stuff.

2004.10.25, 10:30 PM
Aha. I see. What kind of tiles did you get, Ninja? And what do you think it'd cost me to cover my 14'x21' garage floor? :D

Ninja
2004.10.25, 10:34 PM
i got those foam mats that are sold at Lowes and Home Depot, they are 2' x 2' each, they are sold in packs of 4 for around $14 a pack, but i got 12 packs from work (48 tiles) for FREE!

ChattavegasSE
2004.10.25, 10:41 PM
...math...so for $280, I could cover the floor of my garage? Sure beats the hell outta the RCP tracks. :D Hmmmm....

Ninja
2004.10.25, 10:43 PM
just remember though, you wont have any rails, btw i will have one of the tiles with me Thursday to take some measurements with and cut up, so you can see what it is

ChattavegasSE
2004.10.25, 10:44 PM

Shaun
2004.11.03, 09:10 PM
I doubt that pHREDD. I just want to have a good time.
It's been a while since I have run my Z with other people.

When I raced 1/10 oval the best part of racing every Saturday
was hanging out with people and talking about racing.

Ninja
2004.11.03, 09:12 PM
i think i enjoy that the most as well, wonder if Steves dad got that new Jeep yet :D  bout to go load up the quad for show-n-tell :D

Ninja

lol usually pHREDD is having handling problems, and by the time he gets them all straightened out it is time to leave :D nah he has his good nights too ;)

Shaun
2004.11.03, 09:20 PM
Can't wait to check out the traction on those RCP tracks.
I'm bringing all different compound tires for tuning. :)

pHREDD
2004.11.03, 09:20 PM
My biggest problem is i have too many cars :D and dont spend enough time on just getting one of them right. its the same week after week for me and its usually tires, tires, tires.

Shaun
2004.11.03, 09:28 PM
In all my mini-z tuning experiences TIRES have the biggest
impact on handling. Diff settings were helpful on some tracks.

I also think driving skill has a little to do with it :)

Shaun
2004.11.03, 09:41 PM
Do you guys have any kind of frequency control at hobbytown?

To make sure nobody turns on a radio with your freq and causes a
crash.

We use clothes pins with the freq #'s on them in 1/10 racing.
Don't turn on your radio without a freq clip.

Ninja
2004.11.03, 10:02 PM
Fred, did i leave my channel 7 x-tal in your Subaru last week? i cant seem to find it. and do you have the #6 out of Todd's OL?

pHREDD
2004.11.03, 10:09 PM
I got em both...i bring tomorrow

Ninja
2004.11.03, 10:17 PM
sweet, b/c they are both mine :D i traded Todd another #3 for that #6, so now all his R/C Cars run on the same Channel :D pretty good idea, wonder if he needs another one? i got a #3 with my TC3 as well

Ninja

pHREDD

Ninja
2005.02.28, 09:36 AM
mee too, keeps everyone on their toes, and puts our driving abilities to the test, not just the speed of the car ;) besides, whats the point of having all that track if we leave it the same all the time right? :p

arch2b
2005.02.28, 09:43 AM
i agree that not switching around an rcp track is a waste of potential. i try to change mine every month or so but then again i only get to use it about every other week.

The financier and I will be there around 7ish. I took my Z apart to try to fit another Ford Escort RS slot car body on it, but I lost interest and havn't finished it. :o Steve sold me 4 slot car bodies for $2 total last week. Any body want to try one of 'em? I've got an unpainted Ferrari Testarossa, an unpainted Nissan GTP (looks like an LMP2 car), and a blue Ferrari F40; which will need to be re-cut since the wheel spaces are too small and close together.

i also made 3 new Monster/ OL tiles this week, these were sprayed a little differently than the first, a little rougher terrain, and a little bigger than the first, they are still secured to the tiles and will remain this way to keep them from "warping" like the first one did, i also sprayed them with a simulated rock texture spray paint to give them a more realistic look and to add traction. i will try to get there early enough to change the track layout and leave enough room in the middle for an OL/Monster course for play when we are not racing :p

ChattavegasSE

I'll bring it Fred, as well as my current work in progress; I bought a beat up demo 1:16th scale Focus from work for $5 tonight. I've already taken off all the excess plastic bits; roof scoop, 3 different hood scoops, door handles, and have shaved all the holes. The Bondo is drying right now. I'm sure I'll loose interest in a few days and it'll never get finished.
