Todd. I have good news and bad news. The Bad news ...I couldnt salvage the used fets I received from lamar. They had to be already burnt or fried...I just know something was wrong with them. I shouldnt have even tried to use them. I knew better but I tried for you anyway. I couldnt do a fet upgage on your OL. Your PCB got to the point where I could try to get the used fets to work...and take a chance of ruining your board forever or put your ol back to stock. This is the good news......You OL fets are upgraded to the 4562 fets but there no stack. I have it back together and have ran it around my RCP and it works perfect. Sorry I couldnt help you out this time....we will try again in the future. I will bring your Ol back next week.

I paid $20! Just wanted to see if I got ripped off.

Have you ordered from them before? How long did it
take to arrive?

Ninja
2004.10.23, 08:31 PM
if you paid $20 either you ordered alot of stuff or you paid the extra for expidited shipping, 5 days max for expidited freight and 7-14 days for regular shipping, i only paid $3.68 for shipping but i didnt order much

The conversion thing is an awesome idea... can't wait to see what you come up with, we've been waiting a long time for RCP to release these, too bad they aren't here... wonder if they will be around for xmas.... I think it would be great to have a technical section on a large track.

How else are u gonna get good at something if you dont practice? I dont think anybody wakes up one morning and are suddenly good at adding fets to a PCB. I have repaired 2 of the bad boards with jumper wires, but they have no stacks on them. I had to take them back to stock....my fried boards have become my experimenting boards....live and learn

I just cant bring myself to send it out to have it done. If I cant do it I dont want it. But, thats just me.

it had 5 points to de-solder underneath . this step can be as hard as the fet stack. It does make it easyer but be careful

HOLY CRAP!!!

I finally finished the FET install. It took me 3 hours to totally complete
the project.
That's the first time I have soldered anything that small.

Not the prettiest soldering job but it works.

I also put a 103 cap on the antenna lead. For Glitching.

Hobby town deos have AC power to charge your batts.

I go through 4-6 sets of batterys at race night. I try to bring enough so I dont have to charge but some racers bring their chargers

I usually go through 3 sets on an xspeed... I don't run anything faster than that.
Gives me 3-3.5 hours of run time. After that i'm ready to sleep and dream of the cars :D
Of course, i'm not here in Chattanooga, but that doesn't affect battery run time much unless your course is oval, which drains batteries a little more

actually the oval where you are at a constant speed the batteries last longer b/c you are not on and off the throttle all the time, that makes the motor work harder and causes a faster drain on the batts

When I race long strectes I drain my batteries more... the small courses I race on don't get enough speed to drain the batteries as fast... guess that a track makes a huge difference in battery drain

I go along with ninja on this one, when you are on and off the throttle the motor draws amps. And amps suck down the batts fast. If you are using a larger pinion for a long straghtaway that can pull the amps too.

guess I was way off base with that one then :o oops, sorry :D

Well here goes...I got my first iwaver today :o and heres a little review of it.

The car was well packaged in an impressive looking black box. the RTR kit had all the included extra parts like springs, spacers, and pinion gears. Before I put batteries in it I installed a iw x-speed pro motor. the motor case clip that holds the motor broke trying to put it on. I also wanted to put beariings in it. When i installed the front wheel bearings, they wouldnt go on the shaft on the knuckle. it was like it was to big or something. I had a extra set of knuckles in stock and changed them out. after the bearing upgrade I was ready to try it out. I got the controler out and tried to screw the antenna in and it wouldnt tighten up. it must be striped from the factory.. anyway, I fired this baby up and put it on the dyno, 50 km/h on the first go. very fast IMO. the body of the car was pretty cool looking except for the stick on decals. looks pretty cheezy compaired to the Kyosho bodys. I have to keep reminding mysel I only paid around $45 for the RTR kit and the x-speed pro motor.

I will try to put some laps on it and give a little review of how it handles.

What batteries and chargers do most of you have?

Do you all plan on racing at the courts this Thursday?
If so, what time?
I should be getting my new digital camera Thursday. :)

What kind of track do you set up on the court?

pHREDD

99% of us use the IC3 batts and charger. you can pick them up at walmart. We will meet at the courts at 6pm on thursday. As far as the track, we run on the court surface with a water hose for the barrier. its aprox 15x30 track. we kinda run nascar style on the courts. full speed and hope your car hooks up. Its easy to run 5-10 cars at a time on the court, very fast and fun. If you want to come down I can give you me cell and meet you somewhere aroung the mall. Its less than 2 miles from northgate

Is anyone ever playing tennis on the courts?

Does anyone have a DC charger to charge at the courts?

I do. :)

there is 5 sets of places to play tennis and no one plays on it when we are there. and most of us have the DC power outlets in our cars

I have 2 PowerEX chargers. 1 is AC/DC and charges AAA @ .5 amps.
The other is AC only and charges AAA @ 1.0 amps.

How many hoses do you guys bring? Ever try a road course on the courts?

Ninja
2004.11.06, 09:01 PM
how fast do those chargers charge batts?
im gonna set my Piranha up to charge a set of 4 AAA batts at 1 amp, what do you think?

David brings 1 100 foot hose....and we have never did a road course on the courts. its too fun going super fast bumper to bumper. I have brought my mini96 RCp track to the courts and set it up.

The PowerEx charger charges pretty quick. I usually run a set of batteries
until I notice them getting a little flat. Then let them cool and throw them
on the charger to re-peak them. Usually takes about 10 mins.

A lady I work with, her man is big into RC cars; or at least used to be/wants to be. He bought a drifting Focus 1/18th from my store last week and has been running it into the ground. I told the lady to tell him to come race/watch us and I garunteed he'll be hooked in a matter of minutes. Hope he shows Thursday, he's good people; from talking to him in the store a few times.

He'll have to race in the oversized, very loud and slow Focus class with me. :D Which reminds me, I need to get a AA case that'll hold the batteries tight. He told me the motor in his Focus is a 130 size, so maybe the S04 and V2 can make their way into the Focus. :D :D :D :D
