Another milestone for me guys. I just repaired my first PCB. This was one of my first trys at fet stacking. Needless to say I failed. WHen removing the stock fets I pulled 2 tabs off the board and had no where to solder the fet feet to. After a little research and some practice I repaired my bad board by adding a couple wires. I know a lot of other members have done this and its nothing new, but it is for me. I have a couple other boards I will repair soon. I also borrowed my our companys solder station.

Heres a couple pics

way to go phredd, now you are up there with me as far as repairs go. :p by chance what are you going to do with that board? none of my orders have come in yet  doesnt looks like i am not going to be able to get Steve Wells' car together in time, though it is already repaired, i really wanted to give it back to him looking like a totally new car. oh well, i guess i just got myself some new wheels, tires, and a new body :p

All the boards I screwed up have chassies waiting for them.....02, F1 and a OL.. I will try to get Todds OL finished before Thursday....I dont have enough FETs left...The ones you gave me Only 6 could be used. MAybe I can come up with something.

GREAT NEWS :D the new Iwaver PCB (the $18 one) will handle SO4 :D yes pHREDD it is what we been dreaming of. I got bored today and threw the SO4 in my home built 02 RM with stock Iwaver Electronics and it haulls a$$, has great response, turning, and is just great over-all. Sorry about the mis-information before pHREDD but it will work without FET stacks :D with electronics, tires, wheels, and all i built an 02 for around $60 :D

*edit* P.S. I will be putting this electronics set in all my cars from now-on, even though it doesnt have brakes

did you figure out how to reverse the steering to use with the kyosho control? I have tried swaping the black and red wires but it doesnt work. Also, the numbers on top of the fets are different than the ones on the RTR kit. I got one of each in the mail friday, the rtr kit and the stand alone board.

you have to swap both the red and black wires for the motor, and the 2 wires for the steering pot. you have to swap the 2 for the steering pot at the pot end, not PCB, mine works great :D for the 02 everything should be in order, i just had to swap them to make the steering right in the 01, then switched them back for the 02. the 02 steering is backwards from the 01, and the Iwaver is backwards to the 01 as well, should be the same as 02, but if not you can figure it out, you're a smart guy

what about the numbers on top of the fets being different? still think there the same?

Ninja

Well I hooked it to my NMLV.2 and held it wide open and the fets didnt even get warm, foward or reverse. I guess 30 minutes at the courts will tell the true tell. Im still not 100% happy with the sterring. my RTR kit is kinda squirrly.

alot of people have complained about the Iwaver steering, mine is perfect, no twitching, good proportion and all

Mine isnt twiching, when i set the steering straight it gose fine for a few laps...then it starts going to the left or right...set it again and its fine for a few laps...then starts to go off again.

pHREDD
2004.11.07, 04:17 PM
i dont think so...the iw pcb has no on /off switch right?

Ninja
2004.11.07, 04:17 PM
right, you have to integrate the switch into the power supply

I reworked the steering where the IW pcb works with my Kyosho controller. You were right NInja, it wasnt that hard. I also fixed the wandering steering by replacing the servo pot.
