i tink what he means is are the mini-z motors already broken in or should he say run it on 2 cells out of the car for a while so he doesnt kill it. Personally i just put batteries in the thing and went nuts and I think thats what most do with ther mini z
hope i helped

If you are racing competition, I would run in the motor. My experience is that you get the most speed out of the motor if you run it for an hour without any load (without pinion). The competition rules on our track only allow standard Kyosho motor, no X-speed or others. I am running with a stock motor, and I have the track record. Not even the guys with GPM or x-speed are even close.

He Thomas,

You should probably correct your spelling on that one, I think you mean 'guys :)'

Freudian slip :D

I just ordered my mini z earlier today... and I had never heard of running in the motor before. I've broken in nitro engines, but how do you run in an electric engine?

Specifically any of you (thomas) that get really good performance out of the stock motor.

Thanks!

What I have done to to get my motor to perform very good is to run it without any load for about 30 min. on to cells (2,4V), and then 40-60 min. on 4 cells (4,8V). After this my motors has been really fast for about 6-10 hours, after that I only use it for practice. The motors that came with the ready set has not been as good as the motors I have bought as spare (with the softer wires). On the track we have the competitions, the best laptime I have done with stock motor is 6,075 and with a X-speed 6,008. The X-speed is a little bit faster, but alot more difficult to handle. You really need a high grip surface and a perfect setup to be able to take advantage of the X-speed. Or a really wide and large track.
(We are a group of about 30 aktive racers, many of us race 1:12 and 1:10 in international events. The track we compete on is 10ft.*25ft. see attachment)

By no load you mean with the wheels off of the ground?

Forgot to say... that track looks sooooo cool!

cant wait to setup my kitchen floor with my mini z.... who needs a dinner table anyway?

My first mini z hasn't come in the mail yet and I already want another to race my friends with.

I take the pinion off the motor.

(This is my practice track: 15ft.*25ft. see attachment)
