Nice Robert - good name for the thread. I've been busy at work lately and was thinking about coming out today, but oops, it's V Day. See yah later in the week. I'll try to make race day, but that's a busy clinic day and I don't always get out in time.

"We" ran out of money, but we're trying to conceal that,

So Roger, about mini Z racing, are you going to HT or Club 28 (that means something important in chinese...)? Holla back Ninja.

Brotha Terry: Most of the time, im at HT Fremont. You gotta get out there with us and dice for the lead. Alot of people there are getting fast because of all the practice we've all been doing. We have a good group of people; maybe the best in any forms of R/C.
BTW: I sold my B18C5 hatchback to a racer :)

Roger that. I'm trying to put in a transponder right now, and man there are limited options for placement, ie, one working spot inside behind the grille of my D2 Merc (I heard you got a full size one of those, cool). One good crash, and it's byebye transponder. Either that, or it goes outside like I've seen some people have. I put my car on the track last Friday, and got the apparent thumbs up of approval from Jaime and John on my cars abilities, so now, it's down to me to stay on the same or within ten laps (!) of the experts...
I guess I have to check out the rest of this site, I haven't been here in years since the end of Tokyo Tekki. I need more Ideas on how to get this transponder in, or find a more suitable body. I love how this Hobbytown track has no hair on it. L8

Here are photos of the HT Fremont race with special guest, Mr. Phillip Ng of PN Racing. This guy is one of the nicest and coolest people i've met that promotes mini-z to its fullest. It was definately an honor to finally meet the great one :). Anyways, on to the pictures.............
Oh before I forget, major props to Mr. Hicks for taking the big " W " in modified mini-z. That was definately a sweeeet run John :).

Those PN Racing parts that Phillip brought with him I think were nearly sold out. I found out about it late and there weren't too much left for me to pick through!

The gloss coat is doing its job.
If you mean how does it run with that body, then I would say that I am happy with it. It still understeers too much when accelerating out of corners, but it turns in the way I want. Know about pod setups? I had the hard H plate and roll shocks which made the rear very stiff. The whole car is also lowered. You think that softening the rear will increase or decrease push coming out of corners? I ask cause I just installed the Atomic RM pod and Atomic disk dampener. I don't have roll shocks now so it is pretty soft laterally. I also softened the front up a bit to get more traction up front.
I think I will post pics...

if you want to stiffen it up now, i guess you can only stiffen up the spring on the disk damper. thats because on the f50 body you cannot run regular damper + diskdamper. Post pics!!! :D

The motor has alot of torque. Its takes awaile before the motor is totally broken in because of the brushes. The brushes are faily harder than usual. The comm is oversized and larger than most comms which gives more torque off the line.

bw762: Yeah, I heard what happened and I wish I was there to join the festivities. I had to work late last night and I didn't get out until 9pm. Bring out the digicam and tape some races for the mini-z members. It'll be a good idea to show everybody on this board how much mini-z is gaining popularity in the Bay Area. In fact, i'll tape your race with your digicam and you can post it for everybody here.
I think im gonna keep the chassis because this one looks a little different than my previous MR-02 chassis. I'll let you know.

Hey Roger -
How many RCP track sets are you and Terry getting? As I said before, I have 3 wide L sets and 2 mini-96 sets with a custom transition piece that transitions seemlessly between the two as well as about 20 blank large size tiles and 60 mini-tile expansion pieces. It's a huge and vary varied track when set up. We should look at combining our tracks in the spring on a tennis court or something similar and make an event of it on the off race weekend at HT. With the Core Lap Timer, it'll be a great setup.

Hey Bay Area folks. We can set up the track at my school. It's available during thursdays or the weekend. I know that HT fremont don't have the track setup on the weekend. It could be like the old track that Joey had. Remember we use to run 2 days straight?I have a floor space of 32x16 ft. Also have a computer and the most important[restroom]. Pitspace and tables even available. We can even run 1/10 in the parking lot. Just tell me when you guys plan it. I can even give a couple of people the keys to the shop.

Floor space is 28x15 ft. That should be enough right?Lots of lights. It's a tad bigger than the HT track. Should be sufficient. Lots of cheap places to get food around and it's my place. Won't kick you out unless you used all the toilet paper in the restroom[lol!].Or unless you called somebody Moron or Stupid[that kind of attitude needs to stop in the HT track]while you racing with others.Thursday? Saturday?

That sounds like a nice space, but I'm not sure if it's big enuf. I've set up my tracks in the garage before which seems about similar size and it only accomodates 1/3 to 1/2 of my track (3 wide L's, 2 mini-96's and 18 full blanks and 60 or so mini blanks with extra 3 wide start finish lines and an adaptor tailor made to go from big to smaller track. Tennis court or gym sounds like our best bet.
Tell Larry I have his rims in the trunk of my car and I'll drop them by HT fremont next I'm there. I've been extremely busy lately with family and working and haven't been down for a week or so, though.
I'm looking at getting one of the new timing systems too, so We'll have a great set up Roger. Congrats again and take a picture or 2 when you can so we can see the newest family member!
Let me know when you're going to make it to practice and I'll try to get over and buy you a drink to celebrate.

Thanks,

Maxfield: Racing was great tonight. I tried to double double tonight winning both stock and modify. I TQ'ed in modify and Jaime took my TQ in stock by .004 seconds ( very very close ). In modify, Big_L was dialed and got the holeshot in the beginning. It was hard to pass him cause he kept his lines tight and fast. I got around him on the inside and kept the lead until I bumped the side railing cause my front tire to almost come off. I came in for a pitstop and fixed my front tire. I was in third after mini-z mike and Jeremy passed me. I worked through the infield and came up with the win. Final results: Roger, Jeremy ( Big Bertha ), and Big_L.
The closest battle for me was Jaime and Ling-Tong. Off the start, I got plowed into the siderail causing everybody to freight train me. Jaime and Ling were too far ahead to make a move for 1st and 2nd. Sooner than you know it, Jaime is getting ready to lap me on the 2nd lap of the race. I tried not to let him lap me and we had some quick lap times. With Jaime's help pushing me, I caught up to the pack and started to make my move. I was in 4th place and dicing it out with mini-z Mike for the last 2 minutes. Mini-z Mike got tangled up with lap traffic; as I passed him for the 3rd position. I managed to finish on the same lap with Jaime and Ling. Final results: Jaime, Ling-Tong, and Roger.
We missed you out there Maxfield. To awnser your original question, use the S03 motor.

Maxfield: Roger forgot to mention Jeremy was using his M18 aka Bertha and I was racing with a Pajero body! :D Roger was fast, and in the 2nd qualifier, I wanted to have fun so did some team driving, I blocked the field for Roger, Mini Z Mike had the hardest time passing me, when he did, I had more motor and put him right behind me again, it was all in fun. But the best of the night for me was watching Sunny Boy race the stock class. He qualified last and was the youngest competitor. He looked so tiny on the drivers stand, he was even sitting on a stool to see the whole track. In the A main he bust out for the hole shot and was leading the race, it was cool, he had the biggest smile on his face when he realized he was out in front. By the second lap he got tied up in a corner and fell to dead last. He worked through traffic and by the end of the race finished 3rd! What kills me, I only let him practice once that week because of school, the rest of his competitors practiced all week long! It's back to RnL Academy for him for some more track time! I need to step it up and buy him a radio and start wrenching on his car!

YEEEAHHH !!! Sunny boy did a fantastic job driving his car around his competition. There was one point I remember during the main when Sunny Boy was in first place. He swooped on the driver on the inside and he was in first place. It was really exiciting to see him on that driver's stand with a big smile on his face :). He is definately a champion in the making. Sooner than we know it, he'll bust out Ricky Carmichael moves on all of us !!!!! Great job Sunny boy. Yo Larry, we need to make some RNL Academy decals. Im gonna stick a huge RNL Academy decals on the sides of my body at Vegas !!!!!

we use kyosho 30's in the front and kyosho 20's in the rear at "Ho Town". Where do you live in California ? If you live in the bay area, you should swing by and take a few laps on the track with us.

I use to live in Alameda. I use to live in the buena vista apratments by woodstock school next to the base. Alameda is a sweeet place especially on the beach and by Lincoln park. I hear that south shore has a ton of new stores there. What about the bowling alley ? Is it still across the street from south shore ? Just thinking about Alameda brings back alot of good memories. I was only playing with ya with the tire set-up. For HoTown, use atomics 20's up front and GPM 8's in the rear. If you can make it sometimes, let us know and we can help you with a good set-up for the RCP track they use. Later.

Man it sounds like you folks had a great night of racing. I'm bummed I missed it.
In terms of a motor, I'll try the S03, I was thinking of trying the MrZ or even an atomic stock (on the FET car) to see how it does. Waddya think?
Just got my Mclaren black Ueno body I'll show off next time at the track. (Porbably won't run it much though -- it still has rear view mirrors.) Going to Hawaii on Friday for a week or so, but trying to get back to bike down to RCX, so I'll be in touch and may see you in Anaheim.
BTW, sounds like the RNL Academy is making you guys pretty deadly on the track. Nice work and congrats on those race results. :p

I know Randy went, he's the only one I know who went. I was going to meet up with Roger, but he didn't have to work the show. Since we didn't go, Paul and I ended up racing 10th scale sedans in Modesto. Give me a call when you get a chance.

Well guys, I never made it to Anaheim. The open road was too nice to spoil by driving into that L.A. traffic. So, needless to say, I missed RCX, but had a blast cruising California's 2 lane blacktop on my R1200C.
I did check the Core Site and noticed that they raised prices by $100 for the lap timer. They're calling $499 the pre-order prices. They've also prevented all the beta testers from talking about it, so I'm a little miffed. I want some feedback before plunking down the cash. And $499 is my price point. (Poor business practice on their part by alienating their core clientel. IMHO.) You guys know I've been talking about this for months, but I'm getting tired of all the secrecy and now the sudden raising of the price. Hmmmf.
Maxfield
2005.05.23, 05:39 PM
Well, I just read a short review of the system and it seems that the Core system works pretty well. So much for my last post.

I have a fairly NEW RCP mini-Z track for sale. The following are included:
1) Two Large Wide " L " layouts
2) Pit Lane
3) Some extra mats including afew off-road mats
All mats have been very well maintained and vacuumed. I also have afew photos of the track layouts I've made in the past. This will fit perfectly in your 2-3 car garage easily or any other large rooms. There are 25-30 track layouts to choose from. Reason why im selling it is because I have no need for it anymore. BAY AREA PERFERRED. There are alot of pieces and I wouldn't want to ship this because shipping would be too much. All inquires can e-mail me at: mugen161@hotmail.com. You can also check out RCP's website at http://www.rcp-tracks.com/html/home.html to get further details.

Can you also post the time of the open races and what is the "fee" for using the track please? I will bring a few friends.

Yea it will be free for practice for anyone who wants to drop by. We will be charging $5 to enter the race. This saturday. Sign ups start at 5:30 and racing will start at 6pm. If you want to show up earlier the track will be put up hopefully by 4:30. Hope to see you there. Just ask Jason or myself about entering the race.
