View Full Version : Atomic revealed their new body.

Before you guys flame a new product, please wait for its release before making an assumption that this body is this or that. Introducing Atomic's own pan car body that has a 98mm wheelbase with the widest +3 offset front and rear for the MR-02 chassis.

Wish the nose of the ****pit was more pointed like the newer 1/12 bodies. Looks like tons of downforce though. Should be strapped. We did learn a few things about front offset on pancars from Joel Johnson that we will apply later. ;)

I don't like the white color you think they would have painted it at least. :0

j/k looks goof so far, looks like it would handle well with all the down force. Bout time that someone started to break away from the scale bodies and make something solely for racing.

I don't think it would fit a mid oil damper if it is a open cxxkpit body.

does this mount the same way as autoscales ? is it made of lexan ?

Still need to test out the theories at this scale.

I wonder the weight? You replied to a post of mine in another thread in regards to the Murci being a pig(weight wise:)). If this one is made of lexan than I think it will be a demon and perform in a higher class. The more I look at it the more it looks like the batmobile of old though. With a little paint work it could look very racey.

Correct me if I'm wrong. I have yet to see any lexan mass productions in this design that is as easily compatible as Kyosho's ASCs or equivelant. I think when producing any kind of custom body one should consider the front body plates already available.

I'm no plastics expert so I don't know how hard it is to integrate somthing like that. It does look promising though.

Will they only be making this single body? Or are they making a few of this style. I hope that they make many of this style, it is one of my favorite groups in racing :D Any idea when it will be released?

I have been ordering a few 1/24 lexan slot bodies which I plan to convert to a modified MR02. (I also ordered the CP Cup Car 2 conversion kit to mount the bodies).

Hey Eugene, I believe this is the only style body that Atomic will produce. They got alot of work ahead when the AWD releases. ;)

Release date is set at late November to early December.

Thanks for the update. I am sure that we will see quite a few nice paint schemes once these are released. I really do wish that they make a few more in this style, with a little more track friendly front ends  I am really liking Atomic products more with each new product they come out with.

when i saw them on a h.k. track some time ago, it reminded me of my brother's 1/8th serpent...

it was a blast seeing two of them run with the other cars... some word of caution though... you really don't want to run too close to a car ahead of you... you just might plow right through them  .... this may cause some heated exchanges during and probably after a race... :o

No clue on price yet, but I am sure that EGRracing.com will carry them (they are the online store for Atomic). I would also guess that RC Mart would carry them as well, possibly the shop here as well.

I would expext it to be around that price, unpainted. If they make a package with wheels, paint and decals... They could raise the price a bit ;) $25 to $30USD or so...

The offset looks around Enzo offset, any confirmation about this?

I don't think a package deal with a painted body with wheels and decals would only cost $25 - $30USD. It should be more, but they will never release this.

Info has been posted before about wheel offset and they are +3 front and rear.

Hey guys, just got from back the track and thought I would drop in here a little review of the VDS shell. From the ENZO to the VDS with the same set up but now with just the different front offset and VDS body I was able to shave .2 of a second from my previous lap record. Here is some characteristics of the body that I found from the ENZO to VDS, much quicker/more aggresive turn in, smooth mid corner and exit the rear is PLANTED. It is also very consistant from lap to lap, a very good all around body. This thing is way beyond DIALED! One word of advice though, the front end is very weak and will crack easily if you are running on an Ozite track with wood barriers, my friend broke his on his first pack of batteries. Luckily mine is still in great shape. :)

EMU
2005.12.11, 07:28 PM
I had a chance to run the body last night as well. At my track we are restricted to only use the body in the mod class. I cant really complain, because that is the best place for this body anyway. I shaved a little off the sides of the body with a dremel because it would scrape a little during turns. With that solved, this body hooks. I had a pretty good setup with my car in my Enzo body. With this body, I clearly had the best car on the track. I broke one of the side clips after running the whole night, but besides that, these was no damage. If you graze a wall on RCP, it will catch and spin you around.

lfisminiz
2005.12.13, 08:17 PM
Had a chance to run body at our gtg. Put it on my maclaren set-up with no changes. Hooked up very well. I had rounded the front corners also. Had no trouble catching on walls. I just decaled body. Held up well except scuffs. Might be able to clean them off? Maybe clear coat next one. One thing i can say is if someone wipes out or you get into them, in front of you, it scoops right under them like a plow.
