Notes:
---------
- Core lap counting system is up and running, we are still having a few issues with the software (race setup and printing) but we have been able to work around them as necessary.

- We will run 3 qualifiers for each class.
- We will run triple A Mains.
- Qualifiers and Mains will be 5 minutes.
- Refreshments will be available to purchase.

Use this "Race Event" thread to discuss things such as who will be attending and any other specific info pertaining to the race. After the event is over, we can continue to discuss any issues / suggestions / improvements for the next race. The results, and possibly pictures, will then be posted to this same thread.

If you think you’ll be attending, please post here so everyone will have an idea of expected attendance.

I'll see you on Sunday 1/22. Say around 11:00am again?

I want to get my STOCK set-up working right. Can I use the stock motor that came with my Iwaver cars? It's similar to the stock Mini-Z motor.

Hopefully we can run OPEN also, with Patrick, Chad and myself. If there are only two racers for OPEN I would rather run STOCK with more racers.

I'll see what I can do. I have some ideas, but they include building some props. If I have time, I'll give it a try.

Will you be joining us?

Patrick - I've got an extra 3Racing BB Speed Motor if you want to get one Sunday.
This is the same motor I used Saturday. Aslo, the motor I let you run at the end of the night.

I'll have my Kyosho/Iwaver/Atomic hybrid car for the OPEN class.
It's a real mutt. :)

I'll run my Kyosho car in the STOCK class.

Anyone want to go to Chattanooga for some racing Thursday afternoon?

I think I might take a road trip to represent ATL in some Mini-Z racing.

Sorry Shaun, I'd like to go but taking time off my job is bit difficult right now. I don't have much vacation time available since I started this job recently. Teach them a lesson about racing against the Atlanta boys! ;)

I talked to Jay today. His new Mini-Z (white Ford GT40) should be in this week and he will be coming to race with us Sunday!

I found out how to generate voices for the lap counting system so that the racer's names and annoucements are exactly like the girls voice used in the software. Cool!

Wasn't able to go up to Chattanooga. Not feeling so well. Sinus pressure headaches are Really fun! The stuff I'm taking makes me want to catch some Z's, not race them. :)

Good to hear Jay got a Z.
I have a new toy, a digital SLR camera. I'll bring it with me Sunday and take some pics.

See ya Sunday

Had fun as usual. I really liked running a stock motor. Much smoother performance. Here are a few pics from tonight.

Being that I actually ran faster with a Stock Mini-Z motor, I moved my Atomic III Pod over to my stock Mini-Z and put a Stock Motor in it. Then I started playing around with different motors and found an old X-Speed motor. I ran it a few times on my RCP track. I think this might be a pretty good combo. Smooth response, not too much torque, and has a little more speed than the Stock motor.

Patrick, thanks again for your hospitality. I had a great time.

Patrick and Shaun, thanks to you both for your technical help. For the first time I was finally able to put together more than one decent lap. My car is still about a second off the pace of Shaun's car, but at least I don't feel embarassesd to be out there anymore. After the last race, I was so frustrated I had a headache. I had fun this race. I'm looking forward to the next one. BTW, when is it?

It looks like you guys are having an awesome time. I really need to try to make it up there sometime, but it's a long drive from Greenville. I am on spring break from Febuary 25th until March 5th, so if you guys are planning on doing anything during that time, I'd be down for it. I haven't raced Mini-Zs on a track in a couple of years, so it would be fun to refresh my skills.

Later,

Chris

To be honest, I have no idea. I go to Furman, but am from out of state, so I don't quite know the area yet. My roommate actually lives in Greenville, and he told me the other day that there is one, but I don't remember the name or location. When he gets back to our room, I'll ask him and let you know.

Hey dude, my roommate just got back and he said that the name of it is The Great Escape. He also said that what they sell is mostly bikes (the kind you ride on), but they do have a hobby shop. The place, combined, he said, is bigger than a HobbyTown. :) He's going to go to Guitar Center today, so I'm probably going to tag along and check it out on the way. I'll let you know how it is and if they have any Mini-Z stuff or a track.

It's not worth going to man. The only thing they had that was Mini-Z related was a Monster sitting in a case. They didn't have any parts either and didn't seem to be very personable as well. They struck me as the kinda guys who are just in it to make a buck, not the kind of people who will help you out with problems.

Edit: They didn't have a track either, but there's a couple in Easley and Spartanburg.

T-Man, I was going to post saying not to get your hopes up for The Great Escape, but I was too late. I used to live in Greenville, and I was disappointed every time I went in there. Even for bicycle related stuff. My sister still lives there and she had bike tune up done there last year. Poor work and high prices. I don't recommend them to anyone.

AtlRC, cool posting of the results. That's great. Um, except when I compare my lap times & totals to your's and Shaun's. Oh well. Practice, practice, practice.

You said it, practice makes perfect. The more track time you get the better.
After only a couple of days racing you have made good improvements. Keep up the good work. :) As always, don't hesitate to ask any questions.

See you next time.
