Hey guys, since NML dosnt make anymore motors. Whats the fastest motor for the MR-02 right now? (thats mass produced)

Is the Saber better than the S03?

nomotorlimit (rod) personally hasnít proven to me that nomotorlimit motors are faster.....I built a motor(plasmatomic) for under $25 that he couldnít beat on the track....anyway, its my opinion that the PN anima is very good for the wow factor, but it all depends on what track layout you will be on....PN anima or atomic Z2 would be nice for flatout speed....and the atomic T2 is made for hairpin after hairpin layout...
and im sure others would have a diffrent opinion...Ruf for instance...i think he loves the Z2...
but anyway out of all the motors I have PN Anima, S04, S03, NM, Speedy05 & Atomic Z2, T2, Plasma, Stock....the S03 is my favorite because it will get up to speed but does it softly....compared to the other hot motors...in otherwords I have better control and get going fast...

but for fun you should build the plasmatomic, it has a very unique sound and is very fast, the only problem with it is... it gets way to hot and can ruin your batteries due to how hot they get...
but very fun for about 5 minutes safely...

In Mod class, I race against Saber's, Anima's, S03's... I am using an X-Speed armature in an Atomic BB can with Neo magnets. My motor is not really a hot motor, but it gives me enough speed to keep up with them, and I still have a good amount of batteries left at the end of the run while most of them are dumping a bit.

The Saber has 2 more turns than the Anima on the armature, so it should have a little more torque and a little less top end.

In another modified car that I have http://www2.mini-zracer.com/gallery/album757 I am using a Nelly 1.3, with a hand wound motor in an Atomic BB can. I think the motor has 35 turns, but has loads of torque... With the same car and an Atomic Stock BB motor (which is not a slow motor) I was about as fast as stock class cars with X-speeds and Speedy 05's. With this motor I have the most speed in the straights, which is hard since the wheels on this car are quite heavy.

I have a Plasmatomic in my Monster, that motor is a beast. Way too fast for the track I race at...

If you want the fastest motor you should look into a plasmatomic with Neo magnets for torque or ferrite magnets for high speed.

cool, i do the same type of thing with my x-speeds...they are in a pn BB can....i like that motor alot, it is what i use to practice with for a speedy05 class race...

I'll 3rd the plasmatomic and BBX-speed. I think my plasmatomic brushes either need a changed or need the tension tighter. It just doesn't run like it used to. The Anima is in my "not for track use" car. Not to say it can't be ran on the track but it has to be dialed way down to use it. The same goes with the plasmatomic. I've built several and the one I did for Chuckyluv ran a 6t pinion to make it usable with the stock TX and even then it was a handful. The PT motor build is fun and as ZZ said it has a unique sound.

I have personally never had a chance to run NML motors. I think the MR-02 typically would not see an advantage in most cases of such hot motors. Now I can say that the MA-01 really really likes hot motors for drifting. I just put together a plasmatomic for minizawd2006's drift car and its a beast. Again I don't have enough track room to pull a monster drift. The stuff NML was selling, I imagine, are too much car for most tracks. Hella fun no doubt and I'm sure will be a prize in anyones mini-z collection.

yep; this is his pick for all out speed. i covered this with him during some research.

There are still several choices, all of the PN motors are good (but a bit pricey), and there is still Thomas over at Minizworkshop making motors (I have run a few of his with very good results, and he will hand build just about anything you want....

im assuming you have a fet upgrade right? or are you asking specifically for a motor without fet upgrade?...if thats the case, i suggest a minizworkshop motor...

Yep my 02 has 2x6wow, you could run a 300 motor in there with that many fets ;)

actually i turned a 540 sized 19 turn motor with an old 01 with a 4x2 stack of 4562's. of course there was no load on the motor, but it turned :D

oh no, please don't give me any ideas...now that this m18 is in the mix there are some pretty powerful 280 motors floating around here...

the idea i have had is the 180 sized brushless setup.....
i turned my own motor, 35 with 30awg. put it in a stock can..WOW!!! i blew the fets tho' 2x1 of 7317's. I have 8 45's coming tho' and i just got my atomic bb can.
Its not that hard, i practiced two times, ran the second one (bigger gauge, put still 30 turns) no speed just torque, so the 35 turn was my third.

We do make hand wounding motor for Mini-Z and Mini-Z AWD. We have been making Mini-Z motor for more than 4 years.

i put my 35 wind into my atomoc bb can....WOW!!! i can't imagine going any faster. its just as fast as my 1/10 with a 17x2 trinity motor.(well maybe not, but very close). Im going to try to get it to hook up later today for a full speed run.

Mini-z's motors look very very nice, and the price is very good. i just like that fact that i built this motor and it works!

I just bought a really HOT motor but am having some difficulty getting it to fit into my Mini-Z motor mount, no matter what I do it won't go in. I KNOW the car will be very very fast if I can get this to fit, can anyone help.
I included a pic of the motor, maybe someone can tell me why it won't fit...

...and will this turbo upgrade work with the above motor? Really need to know as I am trying to build the worlds fastest Mini-Z BAR-NONE!!!

You crack me up :p

You may want to build a custom motormount for that motor, and if there is a will, there is a way to use that turbo.

Yeah I did have to do some mods to the motor mount but it's in....now to work on that turbo...

That would look killer under that VW Van body of yours. Like something out of the CARtoons magazine. May need to loose that disk dampner to clear that belt.

lol dogbreath, that's funny as hell mate!

it's good to see the plasmatomic still rules the roost for all out crazy speed. I'm happy I made that tutorial way back when...........

I've already done it in an xmod, and so have at least 4 other people:

Ph2t, the Plasmatronic is the McLaren of Mini-Z motors. It will take a long time, and will eventually be overthrown, but will never lose legend status.
