Only one upgrade, I replaced the 1986 7.2 volt 270 mAh NiCad with a 1,200 mAh 7.4 volt LiPo pack, that little 930 mAh improvement makes all the difference in the world :D and thereís still room for a larger LiPo pack if I can just find the right short wide cells.

Whatís so surprising is how strong, smooth, and responsive the 20 year old electronics are, oh yea and itís fast. Just needs a little body work and paint.

Hi, got one of those myselfe. I purchased mine from a guy in England who built it for me. He sold me the Lamborghini Countach model with ball bearing upgrade, and an extra Lambo body and wheels. I plan on repainting the second body black. I'll post pics of it as well soon.

Are you offering it for sale?

Eh, no. It's a rare collectors item and I just got it a few months ago. It's part of my micro RC car collection and it runs great. Wish their were some upgrades for it and rubber tires. I wonder if 1/24 scale plastic model kit rubber will fit the wheels. I can get you contact information on the guy that I purchased it from. He's located in England and he's got plenty on hand including the Testarossa. I thought about purchasing a second one, but I'm waiting for Iwaver's new 02M chassis to come out first. I also need to find a 1/32 scale CRT Mini Carpet Racer to complete my mid-engine Mini Cooper project. And for the CRT Mini Carpet Racer project, what would you be willing to pay for the Tamtech? Also got a Kyosho Leaning Rider motorcycle that I can offer.

I was refering to the original starter of this thread. His post kinda sounds like the start of a for sale item and then---------------. I have several of these cars and am always looking for spares. ;) thanks

Sorry, wasnít even considering putting it up for sale. Had just finished driving it for about an hour (arenít LiPoís wonderfull) and was just surprised at how competitive the car still is with just a new battery. Especially how well the Receiver/ESC and servo work compared to todayís ready sets, it really brings home how comparatively little RC electronics have progressed in 20 years.

Sounds cool, what battery pack did you find to fit inside the Tamtech's battery compartment? I was also thinking of using lithiums on mine. I've got an X-mod that is powered by lithiums and it's a heck of a lot faster than with stock batt's. I'll post pics of my Tamtech Countach soon.

Hello, as promissed I have attached photos of my Tamtech Countach. This is an amazing machine and surprisingly fast. It too can use a lithium battery upgrade for it. I just need to find a tennis coart in my local area for my cars. I have another Lamborghini Countach body that I was thinking of painting black and making a wing up front with fog lights like in the movie Cannonnball Run. Anyway, enjoy photos!

I can refer you to a gentleman in England where I bought my Tamtech from. You can E-mail him at pauljonathanking. I'm not sure what his full e-mail address is, but perhaps that alone will work, it has for me. He's always on line so give him a try. He can supply you with spares, a new kit, and some bodies as well. Good luck!

My friend in England, his email address is pauljonathanking@aol.com, he will help you out with parts for your Tamtech, including a new kit if you want. He's got a few Testarossa bodies as well.

Here are some updates of my Lamborghini. As mentioned, I've got a spare body that I'm painting black to look like the one in Cannannball Run.

I used a special black primer paint which works really well on plastic models, then I'll follow it up with gloss black, decals and details, then clear coat it. Then, make the front wing out of balsa wood, cover it in black monocoat, then epoxy it to the car. I'll keep yea posted on it's progress.

Hi there, thanks. My e-mail is Marccrx@aol.com The Lambo is primed and ready for paint. I thought about getting a 1/24 scale plastic model kit of the Countach and use it's decals and details such as windshield whiper and mirrors. Would like to see more photos of these cars all painted up. I just ran it earlier today at a local elementry school parking lot and it was great. Needs a lithium battery for it, should also take a broom with me next time and sweep away the pebbles!

HI guys, since we're on the topic of the Lamborghini Countach, I thought you'd get a kick out of this. Some rich guy in Italy owned a Countach for several years. When he got tired of maintaining his car, he ripped out the engine and hung the car on his wall in his living room! Click here for laughs! italiaspeed.com: Lamborghini. Sorry, link did not work I'll have to add it later. It's cool though, and funny!

Hello, nearly completed my Tamtech Countach body. The paint work turned out great, now I'm just working on the front wing. I'm building it out of balsa wood, then filler, then paint to match. I'll probably epoxy it or screw it onto the body. Enjoy photos!
While the car in the movie Cannonnball Run was gloss black, I only had metallic black to work with. So it's a little different, but still looks good. After the metallic black went on, I painted the details such as lights, then clear coated it, then painted the flat black details.

Thank you. Yes it is 20 years old. You could say it's an ancestor to the Mini-Z, but it's not Kyosho so that' won't work. It's amazing how well the electronics has held up for so long. Actually, I bought this from pauljonathanking@aol.com mint in seald box a few months ago. He built it for me and added ball bearings and the extra Lambo body. I have two, a white one, and the black one I just painted. I'm now in the process of building a wing for the front of the Countach as mentioned earlier. Rather a simple peice really. I'll post pics of it soon when it's finished and mounted. Also need to find a lithium battery pack that will fit inside the battery compartment of the Tamtech. That should make it faster and run longer. If you want a Tamtech yourselfe, e-mail my body at pauljonathanking@aol.com. He can sort you out with a new kit, spare parts, or what ever you'd like. He specializes in rare Tamiya products.

Hello Tamtech fans. Does anybody out there want to see some scaled down aluminum wheels for their Countach or Testarossa Tamtech cars? I was thinking of drawing some in AutoCAD and haveing theme made. Let me know who wants a set.

Wow...
I never had one of those cars, but I have a users manual/catalouge from some old tamtech that it came with, it was full of driving techniques, and had pictures and writeups on the old tamtechs...
I picked up for 25cents at a garage sale, no car, though...
