Thanks a lot - it was a pleasure presenting my little Cooper.

Back from the track - my Cooper ended up at the 3rd place in the touring car category and 5th in the total results (OL, touring, AWD)

Here're (http://alain.galluser.free.fr/Z/Molsheim2006classement.htm) the final results and here's (http://alain.galluser.free.fr/Z/060611_Rallye_de_Molsheim_2006/default.htm) a presentation, created by the excellent presenter fovea3d

wow that is amazing i would like a track like that with less houses but pretty small lanes even for rally you must use some high torque motor but that made my day...looking at the rally course. i have one question if you dont mind, are you French?

In regards to your question: I'm German, I live close to the french border and I'm working for an US-based company ;)

The type of models are completely mixed - we've had MR-01, -015, -02, MA010 and XMODS EVO - in the category overland we've just had OL ...

@Roketmini - I've ended up 2nd in the category "touring" and 4th in the overall results after two (more or less stock) overlands :(
On the positive side my Cooper was the fastest 2wd car on the track (besides the OL class, but that's another story ... )

Great fun the whole day even if it was a little rainy - the Zs don't care :D

Hi Jo,

Nice to meet you ;) Looks like a blast was had by all. Byebye did speak with me in arranging a trip down to you guys for the event but our current schedule and indeed the timing wasn't in favour. It was going to be a fair amount of /$ for the trip, so it was a 'no go' for me and my partner unfortunately, because it would have been nice.

If April's the next rally though, that may be on though if we're still welcome!

Hi Jonny,

bad luck, then - for the next time: there are several cheap airlines (30-70 Eur...) you can use (for e.g. to Baden Airport) and somebody picks you up there...

You're welcome as any racer out there and I'm definitely looking forward to your participation in April !

Sounds good Jo, I think that would be the better option. Perhaps we could make plans nearer the time, if you could help out with hotels etc? :o It'd be great to do any other GTG's while we're there and also the cross border race too.

It'd be great to do any other GTG's while we're there and also the cross border race too.
That was the plan at the beginning - just across the border (~ 20min) there's the German CRC racing hall and we usually schedule a race once a month, so if you're already in the area ...
The other plan would be - we're going to schedule a winter rally around 6th of January, because at the 6th we'll have our traditional 12h race at the CRC ... :D

Hey Jo,

12 hours! :D  That'd be an experience! Well, if you could keep in touch then perhaps we could sort something out for one of those event schedules. Byebye may also be interested in that also, so I'll pass it along. Do you have any more info on the CRC track and/or the 12 hours format? Perhaps you could drop me an E-Mail through the forums?

@Jonny sounds excellent - here's the link to the thread (http://549.rapidforum.com/topic=101274194272) in our german forum.

We race in teams of three drivers - don't worry, as I have an excellent driver for you and byebye and his english is quite good ...
A car is already prepared, so don't worry - you just need to have some training upfront on the track.

The race is just fun - of course - any team likes to win, but in the end we just want to have a good time together.

Fovea3d (Alain) and his team will also participate.

In regards to the 12h itself - it's a difference if you just drive one hour or 12h - we had to face so many difficulties during the last races - defect escs, motors and even chassis - problems with tires etc pp. It's really a thrilling event :D

To make the things even worse the lights are switched off for some hours ...

What tyres do you guys usually run on the carpet surface? I drive on RCP (Kyosho Grand Prix) surface at home and at my club so it would be new to me. By the video it looks to have a little less grip .

Yes - but with more sentiment of he throttle finger you can cope with this - of course, the lap times increase. On other material like asphalt the grip is much better, but I don't like to complain as it's hard enough to build these roads ...

High Raymond, those are Avant's trucks at least the second one for sure is. You can ask him directly where he found them. They were not that expensive in fact.
They did a groupbuy once to create a racetruck class in their club in Oberkirch, Germany. By the way it is the same track where Byebye had his endurance race this WE. Chris is doing well, I met him, Jonny and family there, very nice guy :) I think they all had a great time there (sorry for the OT).

Yes very good experience, we sympathised immediately. He has excellent driving skills especially because he is not used to race on carpet but we had a few laps chasing one another at a quite raisonnable speed :) His team after major mechanical problems and stops really gained competivity and came back close to the leaders. Out of the winning car, the blue Murcie broke the lap record once if I recall correctly. I am anxiously waiting for his race report.
Too bad we had a local mini-z cup in France this Sunday! After the 12h race Saturday I stood there for a small hour, I let him test drive my drift taxi while Avant played some lounge music in the background. Very cool ambiance there indeed
Now I am feeling like a zombie with a couple hours sleeping only between those 3 days of intensive mini-Zing, I must have a KT5 embossed in my left hand now LOL.
Hopefully Byebye and Jonny will be back for our Rally around March 07. For now I hope they had a safe trip back to UK.
I will post pictures and videos I took from these 12h on our forum and post the link in the "how do you prepare" thread also.

Glad to know you are back safely. It was a pleasure to meet you. It is good to meet people your know from MZ forums in person especially if they are from different countries :) Even better when it is for some MZ competition...
@Avant: I need to ask Robert if the track will be ready by the middle of March. Usually they open the display to public in April so it may not be cleaned/ready for practicing in March. I keep you updated.

yes, heavier wheels seem to help the narrower bodies because it adds more weight to the chassis, but at its lowest point, making it more stable.

back on the rally subject, where did you get the rally light bar on the front of the rally Cooper posted above? They look like the ones that come with the Lancia, Lancer, and Subaru.
