I got this body to make a mini sand scorcher style beetle. First off it should be noted that there are some front clearance issues on the beetle if you're gonna use it on an overland chassis. You'll have to trim away some of the bottom front lip which i'm debating whether i want to do still.

Still trying to figure out a good tire/wheel combo. I think I like hummer H1 style wheels best for this but will need to figure a way to get the front and rear wheels to stick out some more. Currently using wheels from the 575gtc. The look is not right but it's the widest offset I have. Open to suggestions.

i like the mr-015 with f1 wheels;) can you even turn the front wheels with that setup?

That was just a quick rig to see what it looked like. I'll have to try it again but i think turning would be okay if you mount the body properly. The bigger problem is to offset the rear enough that it doesn't hit the differential using the F1 wheels.

I'd like to see somebody take this body and make it into a California style street-racer with a hot paint job and hot wheels. Only problem is, front end looks funky.

Hey Soulstice, did this go any further? I knew I couldn't be the only one with this idea. In the final picture is the OL wheelbase at the maximum setting? Sorry for creating an undead thread, but I am so excited to see THAT body on THAT chassis! Signed up just to post this...

I don't have an overland anymore but I believe it was set at the shortest setting. There are issues however . . . if you don't modify the body, the chassis rubs against it either in front or back(can't remember exactly). I wasn't willing to cut up the body so I never went through with it.

The reason this whole project started is because I wanted to create a mini Tamiya Sand Scorcher which I still love but have never owned because they're so expensive. Doesn't matter now since I'm only running mini-z scale now.

Good to see this thread again. Totally forgot about it.

Now that is a cool looking bug. I have always loved the baja bugs. I just now discovered that you can put Lego tires on these?! I might have to try that on mine even though it is a track car. lol Looks great.

I'm with Arch2B on this - looks good with the F1 wheels! Mount a surf board on there and you're set, man.

Sorry for diggin up a really old post....

But what wheel base is the Beetle and how do you mount it to a MR-0x chassi?
Any pictures on how to mount it?

I would love this for fun driving with 70T motor.

I like the second setup (F1 wheels and tires). It's so wild! :D

Ok it doesn't look like a sand scorcher anymore lol
