View Full Version : Can the IRF3717 mosfet use on Mini-z?

Found it on ebay so might want to know if it can be use on mini-z or not.

Here's the spec:

IRF3717 (20V Single N-Channel HEXFET Power MOSFET in a SO-8 package)

Vds = 20V

Vgs = +/- 20V (rare feature for a 20V part - usually they are rated only 8 to 12 Volts)

Id = 20A

Pd = 2.5W

Rds = max 4.4 miliOhms

Never heard of that series fet before... I have used 7317s for turbos before with no problem.

BTW, Vishay Si4562DY Spec:
N = 25 (Vgs=4.5V, Id=7.1A)
P = 33 (Vgs=-4.5V, Id=-6.2A)

I dont really know what the number means :p

Easy answer, No. You need a dual N+P channel package. Take a look at the datasheets at www.irf.com and compare the pinouts.

Thanks for ur reply, the guy who sell the fets give the same answer.

Here's what he wrote:

Hi, Si4562DY is a dual N-ch/P-ch MOSFET in SO8 package and is rated not only for 4.5V , but also for 2.5V GS operation.
IRF3717 is a single N-ch MOSFET in SO8 package and while it is better that the N-ch. transistor in 4562 it is NOT rated for 2.5V GS operation and may not work at all in your car. Also you will need to find a separate P-ch. MOSFET with similar parameters and they are not easy to come by.
And you will have to manually modify the PCB, posibble stacking the transistors and I do not know how much space you have in your Mini-Z and if this will be ever possible.
