Hey Chad... and everyone else.

Seams like a pretty quiet summer. It doesn't look like many of the other clubs are doing much either. I know I've been busy almost every weekend. We tried to hold a couple of races but pretty much no one showed up.

I do plan on starting another season in (hopefully) October. We will most likely run in my basement again. I am planning on getting all or most of it finished out before then (more busy work for me this summer). I'll post a schedule about a month before the season opener and ask everyone about what times they prefer.

In the mean time, I may try to setup a race or two before then. It'll be a few weeks before I have any time, but I'll post if I decide to do it.

Hope everyone is having a good summer and I look forward to racing with everyone again soon! ...and we will run an F1 class as long as there is at least one other person beside me who brings one... and I imagine Hank will bring his... so plan on it!

Later,
-Patrick

Nice to hear from you guys!

I'll be coming again as soon as you put something together. I will also bring my F1 so we should have at least three!

Let me know! I will also need directions as I have only experienced Miguel's place !

Regards!

I am in for a limited schedule with my ferrarri F1 and mr01 in the stock class.
I just hope my wife does not work every friday night/saterday mourning shift every raceday like it was in the spring. Till then I'll keep burning up my track in the dinning room dodging a 11 month old who chases after the car.

I'll be around. My car has been in pieces for over 2 months but I just ordered a new ball diff and also have an aluminum motor mount to put on so I'm still interested. :)

Your house was close by to the shop was it not? I'm hoping it's slightly closer for me coming from the Northeast side of town.

Good to know you are so close (I'm over in Hamilton Mill). I actually have 3 wide ovals (basically 2 wide-L's plus a few) set up in the basement but I've been so busy with everything I just have not run the car. We'll have to get together when I get the car back together.

Here is picture of a config I had set up a while back:
http://picasaweb.google.com/rusreb/March2007/photo#5046090651528983138

Right now I have a config with a sweeper (hacked together sweeper but it works) corner on it since I was having a lot of trouble with the back-end of my car sliding out on the sweeper last time I raced. I figure the new motor mount plus the ball diff should help me adjust things better since it kept happening no matter which tires I used.

Hi Russ! Yeah, I think I'm about 15 - 20 minutes closer to you since it took me that long to get to Hobby Mart. I'm on Morton Rd, which is right off of State Bridge (Pleasent Hill turns into State Bridge).

Hey jeffgordon,

As I mentioned, we will be starting a new season this fall... most likely at my home in Alpharetta (now Johns Creek). We haven't ran any ovals with NASCAR's... I think most of our drivers like road coarses better. I know at least one person has a NASCAR. In the future with enough space, we could potentially have an oval (NASCAR) class.

It would be great if you could run your F1 in our F1 class this coming season. I'm hoping that that class will grow... they seam like a lot of fun to drive.

Keep an eye out on this forum for more details on the new season and possibly a race before then.

Hope to meet you soon!

No problem! I did notice that the one I saw running appeared to have some issues hooking up with the tires that were on the car. I'm assuming they were stock tires and there are optional tires that you can get to work better.

what kind of motor battery setups do you guys usually run

In the stock class every runs the kyosho stock motor. Some even run the stock motor in the mod class.

In F1 I do not know if its mod or stock. If its mod I'll run the xpeed that came with the F1 in a pn ballbearing can. If stock I'll pick up another stock motor.

Did you use to run 1/10th scale up in Dalton. If so I probably use to race with you.

[QUOTE=hpgod]In the stock class every runs the kyosho stock motor. Some even run the stock motor in the mod class. Best stock battery I have seen is intellect 700 as the are the most power. my duracell 1000s are noticably lower power in my stock car. Ravovac IC3 batteries are good power but the get finicky over time. All 20+ cells I have of the rayovacs are now retired to remotes and toys. As with all cells if they sit for a while it will take a few runs to bring the punch back into them.

In the F1 class I do not know if its mod or stock. I got my F1 after the season ended. If its mod I'll run the xpeed that came with the F1 in a pn ballbearing can. If stock I'll pick up another stock motor.
batteries. intellects 700 are ok but fade as they heat up. I have some duracell 1000s that are ok and handle the higher power better in the F1. GP 1000 are suppose to be ok also. GP has 1100 and 1200 coming out right now. If you find a source for some good mod batteries let us know.
In walmat sakar 1000s in the camera section are junk. I have seen mixed reviews in the battery thread on 1000 batteries.

In the mod class MA10 with high power (37/38T)mods with the mr02 mod/stock cars

and it is getting to hard to get land or find enough hobbyist in the booming "johns creek" or sawnee area for any local shop to support weekly races its become non profitbale so i figuered id try small scale to have fun but heard a local trakc you guys went to also shut down hobby mart so that is unfortunate aswell.
what do you guys do for work aand what messenger service do you guys use

Don't worry about Hobby Mart closing. That is not an indication of our racing dying. I just found his shop and asked if we could run there as an alternative to my basement. I figured we would have more visibilty and could generate more interest (which I think worked quite well as we found several more racers). I figured that would be better than my house until I can execute my master plan (my own awsome shop... which I'm still working diligently on). So don't worry about our racing disappearing. We'll be racing somewhere until we have a permanent place.

I am a software developer / real estate investor / inventor / etc... What do you do? Is your name Jeff? I don't typically use a messenger service... unless my work requires it.

The F1 comes now new with the xspeed motor so "stock" should be "xspeed stock" to my opinion. The car can handle it. You just need for sure the rear upgraded diff, the soft rear side bars and work a bit on the front tow and you will be all set for that class.

Yeah, I agree that the F1 class should allow something better than the stock Kyosho motor. I'm not sure that it should be restricted to a particular non-stock motor (but maybe). I have an Atomic Stock motor which I think would be a good motor too (more than stock but not really powerful). I think a good rule might be any FET safe motor. We'll make sure to discuss this prior to the start of the new season and let everyone voice their opinion. Thanks!

Yep, sounds good for the F1 class. So far, our classes (other than the new F1 class) will pretty much remain the same as last season. Our stock class will continue to use the stock Kyosho (or equivilent) motor. I think HFAY may be allowing a more powerful stock motor. Then we'll also have the open class.

Here were our classes for last season.

Classes
-------------
1/28th Stock - Stock Class HFAY Rules (http://hfay.tinyrc.com/Default.aspx?tabid=95)
1/28th Open - Open Class HFAY Rules (http://hfay.tinyrc.com/Default.aspx?tabid=97)
Other Classes may be run if 2 or more people request them. Novice, X-Mod only, etc...

The f1 comes with the XSPEED motor now. It runs hot even with a cooling hole drill under it on the rear pod. I am going to try it in th PN BB can next week to see it drops the heat load down. It draws high current too as the batteries heat up in the f1 also even witha 7t pinion.

Currently I'm thinking somewhere around the end of October or sometime in November. We would probably continue to race on Saturday afternoons (we started at 1:00 last season). I'll keep you posted as we get nearer that time. I'll should have a schedule posted before the end of the month... but first I'll open a poll so everyone can have a say on day and time.

Update on the Xspeed motor armature in a PN BB can in the F1. The amp load dropped on the motor. It is no longer smoking hot just very warm now and the batteries are warm not hot either. The car now rolls free in the corners with less offpower steering as there is a lot less drag brake in the bb setup. Run time went up too. as the batteries and motor stay strong longer.
