Greetings all. This Brian from Olde Towne Hobby Shoppe in Manassas, VA. I've just got in stock a Mini 96 track from Kyosho to get some racing started here in the shop. I'm thinking either Tuesday or Thursday nights starting in October. Reply here if you're interested, or can call me at 703-369-1197 or email me at brian@manassashobby.com. I'm real excited to get this going so I hope to hear back from you all soon.

welcome to the forums! if you would like, i can make a subforum for your shop and gallery space for you. as a member, you already have member gallery space.

fyi, i've shoped at your place many times in the past when i lived in dale city. sadly it was not mini-z friendly at the time so i mostly bought modeling supplies. i'm glad to hear you have a track and will be holding races. i would highly suggest the mini-96 expansion pack however as it will get very tight with anymore than 2-3 cars.

if you ever have any weekend events, please keep us updated on the forum.

i'm excited in that there appear to be many more hobby shops gettign into mini-z racing! the last 5 years or so have been bleak to say the least.

if your ever interested in some regional club racing competition, i head the dc club and we enjoy racing other regioanl clubs like the dorks on wheels club in reading, pa.

Welcome. I'm in Ashburn. You'll probably see me from time to time since Manassass is fairly close to my house. Hope you'll stock parts as well if you don't already.

Yes, thanks that would be great. Please set up the subforum.

With the Fall/Winter season coming up soon, this is the right time to get into the Mini-Z scene here at the shop. Since I bought the track I've got a couple of orders for Mini-Zs so, yes, we will be stocking Kyosho parts and accessories here in the shop. It'll be a slow process, cash is tight right now, but my hope is to get the racing going to build more interest in the hobby. I already know of six or more customers that are interested in racing here, so my excitement is really growing as well.

And yes, I hope to get the mini-96 expansion pack here soon. I had to see first how the basic setup would fit in the shop since space is limited. We also may occasionally set up racing on Sundays. I'll post schedules here, and on other forums as well....

Well...right now, I've got a stop watch. hehe. It may be a little while before we get a true lap counting system in place. Any recommendations?

there are a few options in the $300-600 price range and each has it's plus and minus's.

i'll see if i can't find a good review thread here to link to.

if your intereted, i have the core timing system which i could bring down one sunday for racing/demo, let you see how it works, etc.

One thing that we used to do in Charlottesville was to use thumb counters. You can get them at staples and what you do is have the people that are not racing count the laps for the racers.

If you have some spectators (parents, siblings, friends whatever) they can help count.

It's not a perfect system but it's good enough to get by.

Brian, what's up.. I'm glad to see you decided to start posting on this site as we had discussed when I was in the store last Friday.. It's good to see you on the forums. Me and Matt should definately be in the store to run soon.. This site is a great place to help spread the word about the track in you're store.. Good luck with the racing and you can count on me to be there in the near future..

I hope to get the expandsion pack for the mini-96 by next month too. Let me know what nights work best for everyone - Sunday or Tuesday.

Sunday nights would be best for me because I live 50 miles away and can't make weeknights.

Hey guys. Sorry it's been a while since I posted here, but I've been so busy lately.

Anyway, I just got in stock the expansion pack to the Mini-96 track and a few cars as well. I've also built a timing bridge in anticipation of getting the new Robitronic timing system coming out in a couple of weeks. Check it out here.....http://www.robitronic-usa.com (http://www.robitronic-usa.com/index.php?page=736).

Thursday and Friday nights are now opening up here for racing, which I'd rather do than Tuesdays. So, anyone that wants to come practice, hang out and have some mini-fun, you're more than welcome to come down to Olde Towne Hobby. Once I get an idea how many people we have coming on a regular basis and once the timing system gets here, we can get organized racing going. I already know of three people that live near by, not including myself, with cars. Meanwhile we can take the time to get a lot of practice in and try some new track layouts.

Keep in touch!

Hey guys, just wondering is anyone is still interested/available here. I'm looking at racing here on Friday nights now for sure. I'm working the bugs out of the lap counting system as we speak...taking longer than I wanted though. Let me know who's in.....
