Hello,

I see a lot of my custom work floating around on here quite a bit so thought I would introduce myself. My name is Dave Graboski, I only just started painting the mini z bodies about 3 months ago. It seems I have a bit of a following already. I have done a lot of bodies in these last few months and really appreciate the nice comments. Below are a few samples, some have been posted on this forum already, some havent. Enjoy!!

Ill give a BIG thumbs up to Dave as a person to work with and Daves excellent work. Daves done numerous bodies for me already. I can tell you that my painting days are numbered when i can rely on Dave for a much more customed look and can still do my thing to finish them up. ;) Good guy, check him out. :)

Yes I can do long type hot rod flames, depends on the body though. As you know the sides of MOST mini z's have many body lines that makes it hard to get the mask into. The VDS is my favorite/easiest body to mask out. Let me know if you want me to do something up for ya.. :D

Davey - should have posted this earlier, but the body came out awesome :)

Was REAL easy to see on the track, and the flames made it look like it was going quick even sitting still :D

You got my business :) I got 2 more unpainted 575's that need some color ;)

Hmmm, I can def do a sheetmetal type body but the pics that you attached are kind of tough. I will do some research and get back to you. For an examply of the sheetmetal look, take a peak at this pic. This is the car that was used in one of the articles I wrote for Atomic mods.

yeah, you've got the sheet metal look down on that one. the harder part would be the currogated metal panel look down the sides.

How do you paint the black details???

The headlights, grill, wing, etc is all airbrushed on. The doorhandles and small details are just a black sharpie, the clearcoat is sprayed over all of these things and seals the body.

Its been a little while since I have posted new pics of mini z bods. Here are a "4" more I did for Larry this past week. He liked the 350z so much that he now wants it to be his TEAM BODS....;) I have been told that people can definitly tell what bods I have painted, that I have my own style. The Green Mercedes I tried to make a little simpler and not go with what I would normally do...Tried to astray from "MY STYLE" Not sure if I pulled it off or now, but it does look different. ENJOY!!!

Davey G

Hi Jude26: For the bodies that you see on this page, the prices range from 25-35 plus shipping and paypal fees. Yes the body must start off white. I am moving in less then 2 weeks, so for now would rathe not take on any more bods at this point. In about 1 month I will be ready to do more. Thanks!!!

Nic-Z
2008.07.25, 10:10 AM
if you can't get a white body you can always take one and soak it in brake fluid it strips the paint and doesn't melt the body like paint stripper. just a thought

marc
2008.07.25, 12:59 PM
Brake fluid? How did you come up with that idea? The plastic on the Dnano is much thinner than the 1/28 scale body, so it would be weaker against some chemicals. Brake fluid, any particular brand or type?

Here are a few for EMU who is going to the KO race in California. I hate taking pics inside but due to inclement weather here in LongIsland I had no choice. Here are photos of the 4 bods but with 2 different lighting backgrounds. Hard to tell but that is actually Silver and Copper in the back. ;)

I think you have a lot of talent, however, flames/water/whatever on the front of the body changing over to another color afterward isn't much my style. Could you do a post showcasing some of your themed paintjobs? I saw a couple but its a lot of pictures to look through to find them. I'd like to see some of your other original ideas compiled in one post. Very cool thread.

Also, I'd like to thank you personally for sponsoring the Myrtle Beach event. Maya won one of your custom pitboards in the raffle. We decided its a great pit board, but, we want to conserve it by placing it up on the wall! A momento from the Myrtle Beach race!

"We specialize in Lexan and Hard Type plastic bodies for all scales of R/C Cars. We use Parma Faskolor paints exclusively because of there vast range of colors, ease of use and lack of toxicity. All hard plastic bodies are clearcoated then buffed." I got the previous quote off of the link in Davey G's signature.

Hey Davey, I noticed your paint jobs almost all seem to have the same theme or style to it. Have you done any "normal" looking paint jobs? Like a stock-repaint or a simple color change?
Can you post pic's of any flame jobs you might have done? I love your work, and you are an artist, but I keep saying the same styles!

Davey G
2009.07.08, 12:15 PM
Page3 has a few flame jobs on it, and also page3 has a Jason themed body, a Monster Energy drink theme, and a firework type body on it. I think the 1 color wonder anyone can do so why bother. Just my opinion. The very last page I have been trying to show some other styles like ROB D's body with the crazy tribal mask with pinstriping.

The PANCAR has a ton of body work done to it, the side louvers were covered, the top louvers were covered, the original wing with cut off, the top side dams were lowered, the lower side dams were lengthened and the bump on the hood was shaved off.

my "Bondo" is actually CA and baking soda. I ran the Mclaren often when I 1st started Z racing. This body dimentially is smaller in all aspect then the 360/430 so it only seemed right to try it in 94mm.

That looks excellent! Are you offering this service to others or is it a one-off?

Sure why not, it would have to be customer specific, depending on what they wanted done.

Overall testing proved that the Mclaren still has what it takes. I am pretty certain I will be running this at the PN regional next week. On the PN regional layout it was pretty quick, lots of 7.7's with a hotlap of 7.5. Daddy Likey :)
