hey guys, been a while. ive had the iw02m for a while now, and when i first saw it and the carbon fibre chassis you could get, i thought it would be cool to make my own, and i wanted to change to dedicated electrics aswell, just for the hell of it.

being the layout it is, allows for a fair few different ways to do things.

i bought some 1.6mm cf sheet and started playing about a month ago now.

i bought all the alloy parts for it, bar the steering tie rod(was going to make my own, havent yet)

electrics are as follows

iwaver 02 am tx
esky 8g servo
team associated TR203A rx
LRP quantum micro reverse esc
1300mah lipo battery
atomic chili motor with plasmadash armature

this makes a pretty potent combo, im going to buy a speed checker next week probably, see how it goes.

chassis consists of 3 layers of cf, base, electrics base/battery cover and the shock mount and nylon spacers.

all the cutting was done with a drill press and a dremel, with files for cleaning up.

yesterday and tonight i decided to further mod it, so it could fit my old iw01 bodies on, the short wheelbase ones. i hacked up the front shock mount and drilled a few new holes on the base plate.

the esc and rx i took out of the cases and joined using some coated solid wire on the power wires for the servo plug. also attempted to remove the servo pins off the rx and use right angle ones, almost rooted the pcb doing that, but its working, so all good. also relocated the crystal so it lays flat. velcro holds the elecs down on the cf tray with a piece of plastic for insulation from the cf.

ok, enough rambling, pics time(128k upload, so bare with it :p)

How much does that huge LiPo battery weigh? 170g chassis only is a bit on the heavy side I think.

Looks cool though, very impressed that you cut all that with a dremel and drill press. :)

battery is about 50g by itself from memory, the same as a set of 4 energiser 900ma batts, the 170g is fully loaded with battery and elecs

Nice setup. I have been wanting to do something different but could never figure out how. Looking at your setup it has given me some ideas. I would like to see how it runs. Thanks alot and good job. Keep up the good work. :)

hi, missed your post somehow, yeh, its pretty good, been doing small tweaks here and there, yet to get it out on a decent area again though to really have a play. got a smaller battery coming aswell, should lighten things up a bit more, also got some more tyres and such coming to try and get the power to the ground a bit better.

will try and get some video sometime.

i did Cherub1m's motor stay swap the other day(see "best iw02m setup" thread), definitely an improvement over stock placement, though now im worried about fitting anything bigger than a 10 tooth gear on, as it might munch against the springs. we'll see, got a 12t coming, but might have to go back down to a 9 or 10, but in aluminum(running a 9 now)

might also add, the other day i got bored and made an adjustable steering rod
works pretty good, but i fear it will break easily with enough driving around, but so far so good. thinking of making one up like the tgr one, just need to find some small alloy ends.

LOL. It looks strong enough from here but idk I think I would have stuck with the first setup. Does it give you any steering issues?
