*** January OLPS Schedule***

Seems like only yesterday we were wrapping up Season IV, because we were. We won't know the results until January, but it looks to be our best club season yet.

Season V begins in January, and sees the return of the hotly debated 2-Drops. This will also begin the shorter five month season allowing a break in between. Good luck everyone.

The first scores from the Season V OLPS are posted. Brad and Bill are off to very strong starts, the rest of us seemed to stumble a little. We picked it us some in the second race though.

The Ann Arbor Dojo club is making a commanding opening bid to claim that Club Championship title by placing strongly in the top ten. But there are still eight races to go, so we can still get it!

There were a great many cars finishing on the same lap, so I'm including a new section in the scores to show those gaps.

We have some tight scheduling for March and April, so we have the OLPS coming up without our usual break between race weekends. The first of the month as it turns out is not good for the clubhouse due to renting business they must conduct there.

So to work with the clubhouse staff and prevent hoards of potential renters from walking in front of us during the race, DJ is opening the garage the additional day for us to use. Thanks DJ.

Second race of the season and there is a tie for First Place in the standings! AA_Endo from the Ann Arbor Dojo club has driven in Hamilton-like fashion to a set of 2nd place finishes last month and 1st places this month, which elevates him into a battle for 1st overall against the reigning two-time champion, Brad of Mini-AZ.

Overall the Ann Arbor club is storming away toward that coveted Club Championship with six drivers in the overall Top Ten and large groups in the top of Races #3 and #4. Mini-AZ has a strong showing with three in the Top Ten, and 2-4 drivers topping the races. The DC GTG club is in the hunt as well placing drivers at the top.

There were some even tighter finishes for position this time. Check out the gaps where drivers finished on the same lap.

Driver's Championship: (Field of 69 drivers)
Place --- Driver -------- Points
2nd ------ Brad ---------- 796 (-1) (tie for 1st)
3rd ------ Billy C --------- 786
8th ------ Hood ---------- 751 (+6)
11th ----- Joe ------------ 743 (+4)
12th ----- Dusty---------- 742 (+4)
31th ----- DJ ------------- 651 (+3)
56th ----- Wes ---------- 335 (-22)

We've reached mid-season and the two Drops are now being figured into the overall scores. That's shaken things up a bit with some losing ground, some gaining, leaving a near even mix of the Ann Arbor and DC clubs dominating the Top Ten.

The competition is very strong this season with plenty of close points fights for position. Brad has retaken the lead, but a thin two points separate him from AA_Endo. Look at Endo's two Drops on the HFAY site- both are 198, which means he's never finished below 2nd! Brad would have a similar result but for March's mishap! We've got us a race to the overall finish now!

Locally, we somehow made a pretty good hash of the first race. Ouch. Luckily my poor finish was eliminated by one of the Drops or I'd have felt that sting pretty hard. In the second race however we rallied back to our good form.

The level of competition out there can be seen by the close finishes. In all but one case we finished on the same lap as others and separated by as little as 1/100th of a second!

DJ is setting up at his shop on the 12th from 10am-3pm if you'd like to get some practice in before the April round later this month.

Keep digin'!

This was a tough track. Ironically it would appear those of us that switched to the new 64 pitch gears were hindered by not being able to gear lower as could be done with the stock 48 pitch. This course was about acceleration off the corners. Mini-AZ was clobbered in the Clockwise round, but recovered some in the Counterclockwise.

Unfortunately Brad was not able to get his run in this month thus putting two Goose Eggs up on the board. We figured the championship was over, but Endo also racked up a zero! He has taken the lead but by only four points, and Bill lurks in 3rd 11 points out, so the battle is still on.

Both Endo and Brad need to drive flawlessly going into the final round of the Season V campaign. Who will blink first? We'll find out in June!

Last race of Season V, last race restricted to 3010 board and the HFAY4 motor. Going into the final two races, Brad's lead has slipped but he trails by only four points, and Bill continues to claw away in third, 11 points behind.

Despite some setbacks, Mini-AZ is still in the running for the coveted Club Championship. Let's give this our best and bring home the Championships!

The difficult scheduling continues in May, and the OLPS had to fall on the 31st. Again, the end of the month is not good for the clubhouse due to renting business they must conduct there. So to work with the clubhouse staff and prevent hoards of potential renters from walking in front of us during the race, DJ is opening the garage the additional day for us to use. Thanks DJ!

The May races were the Season V finale

10 races, 76 drivers, and 10 clubs from two countries

And the Driver's Championship goes to................. Brad! He pulled out from a four point deficit at the last moment to capture the title three-peat! Very well done. Bill stayed at the top as well taking 3rd Place overall and capturing a second podium position for Mini-AZ.

A second Club Championship title however was not to be. The DC GTG club drove away with it for Season V, putting up a solid performance from start to finish. Congratulations DC.

And congratulations to all the drivers. This season had a smaller field but the competition was the toughest I've ever seen. Every hundredth of a second had to be wrenched from the opposition by focused driving and daring do.

Season VI begins in July with the entry of AD Band and 2.4Ghz electronics, a new Spec motor, and the addition of a Formula 1 class! It's gonna be the best season yet.

Dusty Weasle, FYI I had a calculation error. results might change slightly,

won't affect the winners, but might change a few positions. :o
