View Full Version : Custom PitBoards by DG Designs

I wasnt sure where to put this on the forum, hopefully this wont get deleted. 3C Grafx is now providing custom made 11" x 14" pitboards. These are basically a small work plate that you lay on top of your pit towel to personalize your pit area. Any sort of theme, logo, or color I can do!

Whatcha think??

I really like those a lot Dave. The older design you were using was nice too, although it took up too much room in a pit bag. I guess it was for your 18th scale stuff... I definitely want one. I have a few ideas... I will send you an email.

Just as an idea, a possible border lip, to prevent small objects from falling off the work board.

As usual, anything you do, looks good.

looks good, Davey - I think we need to "talk" :)

Will work better than my aluminum Tamiya board :)

Davey - is there a shadow of a body in Larry's pitboard? or is it my imagination?

Davey G, I do have HFAY arework that you can use. I know arch2b talked to you about that. shoot me an email and I'll get you what you need. the artwork is .psd files at 300dpi.

I also have Kyosho Racer, F1, Overland and MZM logos at 1000dpi. it took me awhile to recreate them.

dave,
couple suggestions if you don't mind:p

1. edging material, i'll be looking this weekend form somethign suitable, maybe autopmotive door trim? i used this last weekend and screws rolled right off and onto the floor.
2. additional cork shims/spacers on the back.
3. acorn nuts for the screws. this would help protect the finish of whatever surface it sits on as well as keep the bottom sheet of acrylic from backing out on the screw. this would require thicker shims/spacers on the back to accomodate the increased hieght. maybe reverse the screws and have the bottom almost flush with acorn nuts on the top?
4. removeable/disposable screen protectors to protect the acrylic finish on the top surface. these are too nice to scratch up:p

Hey Davey G, happy new year to yea. I've been wondering. Can these be made smaller for say 1/43 scale Dnano cars? I plan on collecting Dnano's again soon and would love to have one of these made for it. Maybe carbon-fiber finish with the green Dnano logo's on it? How much for one?

Another cool idea would be if you could make these into step's for displaying your cars?

Davey G

Would also suggest adding some of the car's logo's and emblems on the board as well. If you drive Lambo's, would be cool to have a Lambo theme, Ferrari=Ferrari theme, et'c. Just some more ideas for yea!

The biggest I can do is around 11 x 17. I like to do these for mini z's because they dont weight much and dont need thick plastic. My current boards measure 11 x 14

i'm a bit confused here, i didn't say anything disparaging about the quality of your work? it was technical characteristics of the materials/construction of the boards relative to the conversation there.

if you want me to clarify my opinion of your work, i'll again stand by your boards 100%. i thoroughly enjoy mine and find it to be very useful and at the same time attractive. the custom artwork you came up with was also top notch. after all this time, mine is still in perfect condition.

nice, so roughly 1" larger than an actual mini-z. perfect size for a setup board for those with limited storage and or pit space as it should tuck nicely into most pit boxes.

if you don't mine me asking, how are the they held together? i don't see the edge bolts my large board has.

Ive got to give Dave two huge thumbs up on this one! I bet he revised this thing close to a dozen times it seems like, lol. He was very responsive, very helpful, and most of all, very artistic in getting this to blend together just like I wanted it to.

All he had to base it on was a picture of two of my cars, and the jibberiush I typed in emails. Im very happy that it came out just like I envisioned it, and thats a testiment to Daves skills. Ive never had him paint a car for me, but after this excellent transaction, Im considering giving him a chance to do one up for me :D

Davey G hello there! You do do amazing work! I have a question.
I'm very tempted to get back into the Mini-Z scene with the addition of the new limited edition MR02 chassis and the new pearl white Murcielago bodies. I'm wondering if you can do a custom pit board for me that will some how incorporate the two together?
Maybe some sort of fancy white/black pattern, or carbon-fiber aluminum look, or some mixture of both maybe? How much are these pit boards and how long does it take to get one done once a price is agreed upon? And how much are they?
I'm not exactly sure if I'll be racing my new chassis/body, but would like something very cool to display it on!

How much for making a smaller one for 1/43 Dnano? I'd really like to have one with c/f look, Dnano logo, and Murcielago in the background if possible. Thank's!

Just want to give Dave at 3C Grafx kudos for his thoughtful, professional and artistry. Dave did 5 bodies and a pit board. He listened to my ideas, interpreted them into a scheme and delivered on what I wanted. He does a fine job, would use him again and would recommend him highly to anyone who wants artistry at a reasonable price.

If you send over a pic of your car I can easily get this done for you. The reason for all the words/logos is to represent the companies the racer uses or is sponsored by.

I am making a 5 -1/2" x 7" pitboard for TJAY as we speak.

Hmmm, I know I made the inserts for the mbmzr race but I didnt make the plaques. Landon and Daddy Rabbits pitboards are examples of my work as well.

Very cool pit boards! Nice work.

What materials are they made out of? Does the board sit flat on the table or is it elevated by the screws in the 4 corners?

Are they airbrushed or printed?

Thanks!

Hello, thanks for the comments. The boards are 2 pieces of acrylic screwed together, that rest on 9 felt feet. These are designed in either Photoshop or Illustrator then printed on high gloss photo paper.
