this just arrived at the shop... haven't gotten myself to purchase one just yet...

based on initial impressions, this particular motor mount is the high mount and is angled a bit forward... it comes with a rear shock which counts as an added bonus... however, due to this setting, some bodies might not be compatible with this set up...

the motor is mounted more centered (closer to the centerline of the car) compared to the stock - which favors one side, and the spur gear is supposed to go on the left side compared to the right side of the car... i could imagine that this was done to avoid the left hand turn spin out syndrome...

haven't tried it out on the track though, but i'm highly inclined to do so in the near future... :D

anybody else try this motormount?

Herman,
Sonny has been running the mount for a few days now and it looks like it has a lot of rear traction over the regular high mount. No drifting of the rear end at all! Paired with the GPM Silver (mid) steel h-bar, there seems to be no need for roll shocks.

With the HP that everyone is putting down nowadays, it looks like something worth trying.

Herman,

Any chance of posting a pic of that mount, I'd like to see one installed on a Mini-Z

Thanks

Here are some pics from my own car. I decided to get one, and its great! Very quick transistional response, flat cornering attitude and loads of rear end traction.

Diego50,

Thanks for the pics, it sure does look progressive.
Question: Will it fit a standard (non-GPM) motor?

Mondo. It looks like it does because I can't see any screws holding the motor in.;)

Yes you can mount a non-GPM motor. In the pics, an Xspeed is installed (not drilled). There is a grub screw on the top of the motor mount that serves as a hold down screw. Stock Kyosho spacers are then used at the bottom, for proper gear meshing.

Its available at GPM parts dealers (LHS) or from GPM directly.

if i'm not mistaken it holds both gpm motors and kyosho motors...
hey diego50 does it eliminate the left turn spin out syndrome?

That sounds more like a problem with tires. I haven't come across that since I made the switch to foam tires, so I couldn't confirm that.

No problems whatsoever! As a matter of fact, its a really good motor pod. The balance of the car is improved, as is the traction in the rear. You will notice quicker steering transitions, better turn-in feel and a more stable rear. When matched with the proper H-Bar, it really make a Mini Z handle!

zizou... the motor mount comes with a rear shock (didn't you see diego50's picture?)... since the motor is angled towards the front and is placed a bit forward the rear axle, i don't think you can add anything else... :D

Mini-Z, any chance you can get any of these soon? If not, how do I contact GPM directly? I'd appreciate your help!

I need one of those. My car makes left turns like a mofo.

Yep, we can special order GPM parts for you - however our GPM distributor has been really slow getting back to us recently. Email us and we'll see what we can do - thanks!
