So you guys know I like to make videos at the meets. Now I've gone and made a rolling tripod. Inspired by a video Arthur showed me, I wanted to acheive a smooth pan effect on cars as they passed me. So I got some wood, some strong adhesive to push it together with and some cheap caster wheels and wala!!:

I've yet to mount a camera mount on it but here's a video of it so far with me and my dad balancing a regular tripod on top of it:

Sorry it's on Photobucket but only my proper videos make it to the youtube.

I look forward to shooting some track action next month!!

Let me know what you think!

EDIT:
The camera work isn't so great - it takes some getting used to and a device like this is best used at a longer range. So actual footage I take from meets will be a lot better. I promise! ;)

Thanks for the feedback guys... Here's the finished product!!

I've used a cheap tripod stand and fixed it to another two pieces of wood that glued together. I then glued that to the main board and have given it a few coats of satin paint.

Wala!

It works really well and the fixture and positioning stand works a treat. :D

Nice one Tom, some kind of pulley system might work well for getting a smooth roll across the floor, easy to do with 2 people, but not sure if a pulley system would work with 1 person without getting too technical!
Cant wait to see some proper video with it!

Here's some quick shooting that was done last night:

The ones of me drifting are hard to see because my cars so damn black, lol. You get the idea though. I thought it came out nice.

To get a decent view of the cars as they pass, I've added some slow mo clips at the end too.

I figured a shot from further away would be better than close up for control reasons. So I'll try those next...
