What is it that makes the turning circle of an mr01 so much tighter than mr015/02's?
As far as I can tell, the steering servo gears are identical to the latter models.
I don't know if the steering pot is a different rating,or if its a mechanical thing.
Even with the steering range turned down quite a bit it still seems quite twitchy compared to 015/02's.

The front knuckles on the MR01 can rotate more than the MR015 or 02. Which gives a tighter turning circle. On a high speed track, it doesnt help, but on a tight low speed track it would have a slight advantage.

Yes the knuckles have can move more, however the steering is also more responsive. It seems that you don't need to turn the wheel so much, very sensitive to steering input from the controller.
Just curious as to the reason for this really, not trying to fix it.You are right, once you get used to it,it's can be quite handy on the twisty bits.

I would think that the lack of a servo saver would reduce the lag in steering response.

The thing I like is alot less slop. The 015-02 servo saver with the extra linkage between the servo gears and steering bar accounts for the extra play. The MR01 servo motor seems like the magnets are weaker than the 015-02 servo motors have. That may be the fact that my MR01 PCB sets are older than the MR015-02 PCB's. I think the pot is the same. That's from turning the pinion with my fingers with the servo pulled apart.

I believe it has more to due with the MR01's Ackerman making the steering quicker. As others have said this is not always a blessing. The MR01 had/has much more play in its steering that has to be addressed to make the car handle precisely.

You're right.I certainly find it quite a challenge to drive compared to the newer chassis.
