Hi,

I noticed that retailer stock of Mini-Z Monsters and Overlands is very scarce. Will they be available in greater numbers for the holidays?

Thanks!

Did I ask the wrong question, or in the wrong forum? I assumed that a Kyosho rep would peruse this subforum to answer questions.

Thank you for your response, Tim. I suppose I should have worded my question a bit differently. Will there be more models to choose from, other than just those three, in the coming weeks?

And, as per my original question, what about Monster availability?

Hmmm, well, I was hesitant to ask this next question, as I did not want to put you on the spot, but the curiosity is killing me...:D

Can you expound on what you mean by "something new"? New Overland/Monster releases with new bodies, or a total redesign of the chassis/drivetrain?

I just bought a Land Cruiser Overland from somebody and have looked at all of the previously-released bodies, and wish I had "discovered" this series sooner. To be honest, I am not crazy about the models that are available now.

Any info would be appreciated.

I can't say anything exact, but I can say there are new bodied Overlands, and Monsters coming soon. Nothing really for a chassis redesign. As soon as I am given the green light I will post what is coming in the "Whats New" thread. :)

Any chance these new Overland's Monsters will join the 2.4 family? How about some AWD versions of theme?

a 4wd OL or monster would be good, for the monsters maybe rear wheel steering like on real monsters :p new bodies sounds good, i was watching mnster truck racing today on tv, gravedigger and blue thunder [ i think ] was cool, shame they dont relli do owt like tht here in uk.

2.4! 2.4! 2.4! 2.4! 2.4! RAW! RAW! RAW! RAW! We don't want no stinking 27, give us 2.4! 2.4! :D
I'd buy Overland's and Monsters if released in 2.4! PLEASE! :) :D :o

Oh, what was that tiny Mercedes SUV that was recently released? That was awesome, it had carbon-fiber interior, and decked out body, it was sweet! I forgot the model of it, but it was a sweet Mercedes SUV! I think it was a late 90's model is the one I'm thinking of.

that one? i saw one of those in france, they nice:D

2.4 would be cool, but would push costs up:( id like 4wd too... looking at the chassis tho, it wont happen unless the chassis is re-designed, which would also cost alot. it would be extremely cool tho, if kyosho made it like the ssmt custom trucks, using a transmission in the middle, two axels either end and a steering servo up front mounted on frame rails, with links going to the axels for steering.

No, not that Mercedes. This one was a little more modern looking and more aggressive looking.
I'd rather have 2.4 upgraded chassis than AWD. AWD would make it more expensive I think than just placing in the current 2.4 board.

Well, now that Overland stocks are depleted, I wonder if Kyosho has dropped this Mini Z line...

I wonder the same.. Honestly, I think they would be better off making something more like the Micro T. The videos I've seen of the overland don't seem very impressive to me in comparison..

on youtube someone who works for AM, said kyosho was thinking about making 4wd overland but would be $300 RRP

heres the quotes

Kyosho isn't shipping any at the moment...I'm hoping they're stopping production on the 2wd and starting 4wd production. - Jay

I've talked to Kyosho and they have been kicking it around, but they think they would have to charge around $300.00USD retail. They think no one would by them at this price seeing as how you can get a 1:10 scale off road truck for much cheaper. So I wouldn't hold my breath! - Jay

Wow. I wonder why their thinking that for AWD Monster's and Overlands when it was cheaper doing the MA010? I'd buy one for 250-280, but not sure about 300. I hope they continue to think about it. I'm very surprised we haven't seen this by now considering how long the MA010 has been out. Tell you the truth I expected them almost before 2.4's.

They also need to consider the popularity of the 1/28 scale. Also, have they looked at Radio Shack's Xmods? Sure their lesser quality, but they still made AWD Trucks for less than $300.
I bet it would sell.

250-280 isn't too far from 300, but I still don't see anyone paying more than 200 for one of these (assuming it'll be AM). No one races overlands/monsters and racers are the primary consumer niche feeding Kyosho.

marc

Okay, how about 200 for AM's and 250 for 2.4's?

paul_england
2009.09.24, 05:16 PM
tbh id guess that the $300 would be for a 2.4Ghz

CristianTabush
2009.09.24, 07:29 PM
The electronics are actually cheaper on the 2.4GHz. What you are paying for so highly with 2.4, is that it requires a more expensive transmitter. As for the reason why a 4WD overland would be so expensive, it is simply because of parts. The chassis would be terribly complex as well as the suspension, where the MA-010 is not.

I think you all are calculating the price based on what you are seeing in the 03, coming from the 02. This hike in price is because it uses a FAR MORE complex front end. It requires investment in a lot of things such as R&D and new molds for everything except the motor mount and diff. :)
