It's a scam to get your personal details, how can you win a lottery you never bought a ticket for?

if it wasnt a scam the agent would have a proper email adress relating to the company not a @live.com email adress, they are made by anyone and like kryten + other dude said its to get your details and you cant win if you dont buy a ticket.

These gangs mostly run out of Nigeria. They'll contact you and ask you to pay them a 'processing fee' to claim the money. No prize for guessing what happens next. A lot of gullible Indians have been scammed in the exact same way with the exact same modus operandi at play. There's no such thing as a free million bucks.

Remember, if you haven't actually gone out and bought the lottery ticket, it's either the wily telemarketeers or some Nigerian scamster. Just wait till you get another mail from a renegade African king/East European business magnate asking you to hold onto their billion bucks for a commission. Oh yeah, a 'small processing' fee is involved here too :D

I just heard yesterday how one guy dealt with a situation like this. He supposedly sent money back to the guy with a decimal point moved around a bit, but wired it to the wrong bank on purpose and then sent him a confirmation that it was sent. Apparently the scammer couldn't find out how much money was actually wired to him, so he basically had to travel through all kinds of tough terrain and through a warzone to get to this bank to find that he was something around 15 cents richer. I wonder if he still scams?

Could be urban legend, but who knows...
