Hi everybody!

I have a lot of fun in projects with big challenges, and I just started one yesterday.
I will mount a iwaver Brushless!

The engine choice is:
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/catalog/HXTB2030.jpg

Specs:
Engine Size: 2030 (130Short)
Speed: [b] 4300kv [/ b]
ESC Required: 15A
Voltage Range: [b] 6 ~ 12v [/ b]
In the Load Curr: The .7
Max Load: 14A

Diameter: 20.2mm
Front Mounting Hole Distance: 16mm
Front Mount Thread Size: M2.5
Shaft Diameter: 2.3mm
Shaft Length: 15mm
Weight: 53grams

Yesterday I bought from hobby king, it's already left Hong Kong, should arrive in about 20 days, and I hope, without taxes.

Along got 2 batteries LIPO 2S 500mAh, a ESC 30A of aircraft models (for tests of power, and that seems to have the brake function. I just do not have reverse), and a charger, which was the main reason for buying (a turnigy that at that appear on the site). NiMh, NiCd, lipo, Life, Pb, and whatever... 5A top current, with cicling ... etc.. I put the pictures of everything, taken from the site.

Some questions have to answer:

1. Why the hell I'm this?
A: I like challenges ... the idea is the fun of assembly, of the project, and then, if working, to take a walk with the little monster.

2. Battery?
A: I am bringing 2 Lipos of 500mAh, so I can try with 2 and 4S, simply reduce the EPA's throtle for about 70% (would be the equivalent of some 3S), avoiding melting the engine. The goal is to go "only" with 2S. :)

Ah, the battery will also be use on my son's iwaver 05, as soon as you get the new servo of Toyeast. I 'm curious to see the little monster walking with 2S 1000 mAh, to see what happens. :)

3. Tires?
A: Probably from pure latex, I did not find any other tires for greater grip so far.

Some questions that still unanswered:
4. Where to race with that?
A: No idea. For testing, has a gas station close to home with a relatively large area and a flat surface.

5. As electronics will be adapted to the chassis and engine?
A: Only after reaching the parts. The plastic pieces that have to be modified to be bought part (Motor holder, Batery box to hold the car body and Rear suespention). Estimated spending of some 15 bucks on local stores.

6. RX?
A: HELP! I need an RX for this. The idea would be to import a INOPO of 27Mhz, but only has AM, then lost control of 02M Exponential, which would be a crime, it helps a lot to control the grip. If anyone knows of small RX, 2 channels for sale, please show me where import, or make a deal. I can use pay pal now. I'm not searching for another radio, as I am with 4 at home, 2 AM and 2 FM, all 27Mhz!

Hello,

First af all let me say that this it's an interesting and challenging project. Good Luck !

Some of the members here have tried similar builds:

http://www.mini-zracer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24976&highlight=brushless

For the RX, I don't know a such small 27Mhz ( AM or FM ) but if, by the chance it happened to have on hand an FM 40Mhz, you could try this RX: http://www.******.com/catalog/rc-receiver-scanner-universal-4041mhz-srx4uh4041mhz-p-27385.html?cPath=36_1028

I was trying to replace the iwaver PCB with this and an xray esc and can be fitted, the size it's small enough.
However, I'll try the micro 3500 RX from Spektrum.

Keep us posted !

I dont think that the motor was a good choice. The motor is going to be large for the chassis, and the 2.3mm shaft is going to make it pretty difficult to get appropriate pinions.

Something like the Xleron or Orion Vortex would be better...

Red Team, thanks for the link! I already read the entire post, and it is very helpfull for my project, and what to expect from it!

I'm not thinking about 40mhz, 'cause i want to use the 02M radio... I like it very very much.... but if i can't use it, I will think about this one, or may be a DSM!!!

EMU, about the pinion, i'm thinking of use this one:
http://www.***************/Products/Atomic-MB4Vendetta-16T-Aluminum-Pinion--23mm-Rotor__13992.aspx

They have the 12T, 14T and this one above... 16T.

I think the brushless runing with lipo wil have enought punch to run a 16T pinion whith no problems, but i must see the pitch of the diff of my iwaver to match it. If don't, must find one to get the whole pack :)

What do you guys think?

I am pretty sure that the pitch of the pinion will not match the Mini-Z/Iwaver spur. That is one problem many have faced using brushless motors in the Vendetta, finding motors with 2.3mm shafts. Until recently there were no 2mm pinions that had the right pitch for the Vendetta, so you had to use the stock pinions with a motor that had a 2.3mm shaft.

I think you may be able to use a motor that has a 2mm shaft. There are many more pinion options at that size.

EMU, before asking, i already made the mistake... it's already in Brazil, being delivered in a few days... :(

I saw a selling pinion with this specs:

Comes with set screw to hold better.

9T
2.3mm bore shaft size
Module 0.5M

Use loctite to hold set screw in firmly and you can even use loctite on the motor shaft to hold the pinion firmly.

Comes from 8T to 14T, and costs 3 dollars.

I found that the spur of the iwavers / miniz are 64 pitch (milimetric scale), or .5 (???)

If the really is .5, I can use this one.

What is the forms to name the used pitchs? And most important... is the .5 pitch compatible with the original or 3 racing spur?

Thanks in advance for your help here! :)

Well... it came today my first international package with all the stuff i mentioned above...

I'll have to do a special motor mount (probably with alloy) and make the all the things above (except the chager :D plus a 27Mhz FM receiver) get into a mini cooper body!

This saturday I have a 1/10 championship, so probably won't do anything about this project... Soon I post the news!

Wish me luck again!

Good luck with the project and with the 1/10 champ.

I think it will be easier to fit them under the Mini Cooper than to Saleen which it's very low, race body.

i have the same charger. For the price you can't beat it.
