With the current market for cells being larger than ever, I'd like to hear from those pilots at the PNWC as to what cells they chose to race with please?
Also, my experience with the new Orion 750SHO cells has been less-than-stellar, but I'm curious if any pilots were running these.
Thanks in advance everyone

I am sure that most used AAAs. :p

I used R1wurks for stock, Orion 900s and Team Screams for mod/pan.

I didnt see what the winners used...

Thanks for the reply EMU. The R1wurks cells you used for stock, they are the 990UHO type? And were they matched?
The Team Orion 900HV's you used, were they r1wurks matched Orion 900 cells also ?

I have yet to try the R1wurks 990UHO cells, I have not been sure about whether to try the standard/non-matched 990UHO R1wurks packs that are $10, or to go with the matched packs of r1wurks 990UHO Pro-Comp cells that are $18.50.

I have tried the r1wurks matched Pro-Competition Team Orion 900HV cells and I've been very happy with them. They've gotten better with every charge, I keep charging them @1A-1.5A instead of the 3A charge rate suggested by r1wurks instructions that came with the pack. The lower Amp charge rate has lowered the IR.
I also have some TSR matched cells and they have been my favorite along with the r1wurks Orion 900HV Pro-Comp matched cells.

I hope to hear from more of you guys.

Thanks for the input yasuji & DJ Kyosho. But could you please verify exactly which matched r1wurks cells you use:
Matched Team Orion 900HV Pro Competition batteries by r1wurks, or
Matched r1wurks 990UHO AAA proprietary competition batteries?

Also yasuji, I remember you were one of the first guys to try the Team Scream Racing matched cells earlier this year. Just curious - Why did you stop using these cells? Did you have problems with them?

Thanks again guys

i use Matched r1wurks 990UHO AAA proprietary competition batteries
the tsr batteries were great cells....but they have the same characteristics as the r1 matched orion cells i.e. super punchy....but then they taper off alittle after a min or so to a driveable output... if i was a stk class driver that would be great... but i am not:D
Matched r1wurks 990UHO AAA proprietary competition batteries have a little less punch at the beginning and stays the same all the way thru a 10 min main....so i can go hard from the start without having to taper it off;)

yasuji, thanks for the detailed info. Much appreciated:D
I tend to run a lot of hot Top Secret Motor custom hand-winds and the r1wurks matched 990UHO competition batteries sound great. Now I'ma hafta give'em a try.
Sorry to hear about your struggles at the PNWC this weekend. You still had some crazy-fast laps though - Including the Fastest lap of the weekend @10.0-something.... WoW!

Thanks DJ Kyosho. I appreciate the help. I was hesitant at first to try the r1wurks matched 990UHO AAA cells, I read on Reflex's site that they are "mellower" than some of the other cells, great for 2wd modified racing. With guys like you and yasuji using these cells against the toughest competition, they are going to be the next cells I try.:)

On Friday for practice I used both R1 and TSR... Race day I used my $10 orion batts for my AWD mod and $17 Orion 750's.

Lex and Jacob used prototype R1 750's for stock (not sure if they will be released), I used 990 matched in every class. Jacob used regular Orion 900's in 2WD mod/ Pan Mod and I know Chad Nelson used TRP's.

EMU, yasuji, Tjay, CT, DJ Kyosho - Again thanks for the info.
I do run a lot of custom handwinds so I will charge the 990UHO's @1A like you recommend yasuji.
I love my Orion 900HV's, but for the life of me I can't keep the new Orion 750SHO cells from venting. I've tried setting the Cell Master at 03mV delta-peak, @0.7A linear charge rate and I had a newly opened pack of 4 cells all vent on me. Now my PN charging tray has all the orange anodizing on the inside/bottom "melted" away
I will pick up a couple packs of the matched R1 990UHO's for sure. If they are good enough for Cristian to use in every class, then r1 must be doing something right:)

Any more tips/advice is very much welcome and appreciated guys. Thank you

The R1 Cells are great cells, for sure I was not lacking power... I was charging at 2.5A for all of my cells.

I used matched 900 Orions and 750sho's:) I think Z_408 used Tenergy's to tame his beast around the track.

just posting to clear up some confusion, the batteries that Lex & Jacob used at the PNWC are "not matched Orion 750's". They were running R1wurks Brand 750's.

just clearing that up due to some request that we have been getting.

Yeah felix2010, I've had the same problems with the 750 orions. Bought 2 sets of them and 1 set vented. I'm afraid 2 charge the other set anymore.

R1wurks is working on a charger that will work with our 750mah batteries.we will only release the batteries if we resolve the charging issues.
