View Full Version : My Autoscale collection!

Well, after a lucky break, I was able to acquire some pretty rare Mini Z bodies. Why yes, those bodies are the #5 WRC Ford Focus and a White Altezza! Not exactly new in box, but these bodies have never been used, just put out for display. Best of all, it was only $80! I will post some camera phone pictures soon, for all those who are interested.

My current collection of "rare" bodies consist of . . .
Mercedees CLK DTM D2 Mannesmann Ford Focus WRC #5 White Toyota Altezza BMW X5

I've been pretty lucky acquiring all these. My CLK purchase actually made me money, and my Focus/Altezza buy only cost me the amount of a new autoscale, but with the ability to sell for double the price!

Edit: Here are the pictures of the new cars. Excuse the quality, then were taken on my camera phone in my room.

Edit #2: New pictures taken on my Nikon Coolpix E5600.

Yes, I know I don't have the original Focus case. Still very happy of my purchase, though!

Man I'm jealous too.

I have the other focus, just missing the one you have.

Do you mind sharing what the backstory is on how you scored these?

Yea, I guess it was a very lucky score. Just managed to contact him about these bodies before somebody else bought the chassis!

It all started when I bought a MR-01 lot from him, where I got the Dodge Viper body I'm currently using on my MR-015 along with the MR-01 board. I noticed he had an old thread selling these bodies, and I notified him on the price increase and how much he could sell them for. A few weeks later, he lists these bodies along with another MR-01. I wasn't so interested until one day, I decided to make an offer to him again. Amazingly, he took my $80 offer and at the same time, somebody contacted him for the chassis and a few other opened bodies. He was only selling the second MR-01 lot for $150! That includes 2 Altezza bodies (White and Blue), Porsche 911 Red, Calsonic Skyline R34 (Beaten to death) and this Focus body; all offered with a MR-01 with an external turbo and some spare parts.

I never thought I would start collecting these bodies, but with a deal like this, I couldn't pass it up. I'm still trying to sell my Mercedes CLK DTM, though. Just one Ford Focus is enough to brag about in collecting!

By the way soulstice, could you post a picture of the other Ford Focus? I sorta knew there were two models, but I don't know the differences.

I don't have my own picture, but if you google "MZC29W1" click on the first link and that should have a pic.

Collecting is a fun part of this hobby. It's too bad the new autoscale prices are so crazy now. The tricky thing is putting self imposed limits. I started collecting much in the same way you did . . . but 90 bodies later i can't say my self control has been convincing.

I would say this is the rarest car I have.

On the two Ford Focus's, the very first one that came out had the blue on the rear of the car sweeping down the sides and wrapping around the front where the skirts and around just underneath the front air-dam. It also had the blue strip in the middle of the roof from the nose to the mid-roof section. It was more than just a number, it was color scheme, well same colors, just different design. It's the one I'm after if I can ever afford one. I particularly dont' care for the newer one.

Alright, thanks for that! It's basically just a new livery. I'm not so sure about collecting, as I don't want to spend anymore money on this hobby (much different than my point of view 2 years ago, when I left).

Well, I wasn't shooting for any Focus' until a few days ago. I saw this for sale, and nobody was asking about it. I finally thought to myself, "Oh, what the heck!" and finally decided to make an offer. I'm happy with my purchase, the previous owner is happy about making money; it's a win-win situation for all of us!

That Teile AMG is probably one of the only bodies I would want to collect besides my Focus. A full collection of BMW bodies would be up in my list too, but not all are rare besides the Z8.

My Altezza, although in 100% original packaging is one I would probably get rid of first along with my D2 Mannesmann CLK.
