They are checking out two places in Queens. Mini-z racers tend to hibernate during the summer especially with this heat wave. Even myself now only race once a week or once every two weeks, relax. Landlords in NYC are still not being realistic.

Summer is usually low attendance, and very difficult to get racers to attend races regularly. I wish I could have come out to NYRC more, I am having trouble finding time to race. And my racing is suffering from it.

You would think in the metro NYC area there is roughly 20 something million people and we can only get a handful of racers at a track. I hate to hear about any track closing.

I can attest to that! Action RC has been open for over 6 years. Honestly, I attribute that to NOT catering to the high-end pro racer, and catering more toward the beginner and intermediate level drivers. (That's not to say that you don't want to make everyone happy, of course.) The pros will fit in too, but there are far less pros (who tend to spend less than intermediates, actually) to help keep a track open. I hate to see NYRC go because the larger the community of Mini-Z racers, the more the word spreads about all of the area tracks, and drivers can go (more than likely) to the one that geographically works out best for them. The NYC area tracks are far enough away from each other to not step on each other's toes, and that's a good thing. Two tracks in Staten Island would be ridiculous. Even with the higher population in Queens, two tracks is too much. Between Action, Maj's, and NYRC we had the area covered pretty well. I wish everyone luck, because I for one know better than anyone how difficult it is to keep a track open. For now, until Willy, Roland, and Bennett know what the next step is, you guys are more than welcome at Action RC. - Al

I'm in the same situation. New job has really cut into my time to race.... I was really sad to hear that NYRC closed.

It's all location, location, location. Hopefully they'll find a better spot for us to race & also attract more racers. Off course a little a/c would probably help as well lol. :)
