i've been following your site for a very long time, and have been really amazed at all the modifications you have done to your cars...

i have so many questions... (but just one for now...)

how is the performance of a 3 cell mini-z f-1??? was that intentionally done to simulate the power decrease for the 2009 season??? hehehe

Hi,herman.

We had used a normal motor up to now.
However, a normal motor is too slow in 3 cell specification.
If it is this speed, Max Mosley might be overjoyed. :D

We decided to use V-motor in 2009 Seasons.
The pinion gear sets 8T.

At last, we obtained the V8 engine(V-motor + 8T Gear)!!!:p

The problem is not in the responses other than the speed.
(Steering wheel responses,Throttle responses)

is there anything special about the v-motor? so you mean kyosho x-speed motor?
and do you also mean that pinion gears are mandatorily set at 8t only?

are there any other problems that happen when using a 3 cell specification f-1?

thanks again...

>is there anything special about the v-motor? so you mean kyosho x-speed motor?

Yes.
The X-speed motor is called V-motor in Japan.

>are there any other problems that happen when using a 3 cell specification f-1?
Well, other problems do not exist at present.

The radio wave condition when the number of running on the course increases cannot be tested yet.
The machine ran up to four in our test.
The problem did not occur there.

>Is 4 cell + stock slower than 3 cell + V motor?

"3cell+V-motor" is a little faster than "4cell+stoc" in our test result.
However, "4cell+stoc" used 6T pinions.
Those differences might be actually few. :o

We use only the pinion of 6T or 8T.
7T and 9T (...Teeth of odd number) are too noisy!

>Where is the driver though?
These pictures mimic the symposium photograph. ;)
The driver made of KYOSYO tries to make it greatly because it is so small.

It is a link of the references.

No idea, but I'd like to try it. The forward weight bias may be good or bad. It would also put the car in the high 190's in terms of weight.

very carefully :D...

Could you make a tutorial or something?
have you got the time and patients?

i really don't know how they do it... but the results pretty much speak for themselves...
i believe that they really do their research... they take their time, care, and skill into their work... and tada, the finished work is really magnificent...

for the the three cell f-1, i believe that they made a response in the link above... just re-routed the wires for the power supply to accomodate 3-cells and linked them to the board...

No but I mean, how do they build the add ons? with plastic cards or something?
they use styrene... (my guess) which is like a type of modelers plastic.... build them up from scratch and reshape what needs to be shaped... also they use some modelers putty... haven't done any kind of custom work myself, but i've seen some before, during, and after pictures.... it gets pretty tedious...

Hello everyone, do you know where i can find this F1 body???? Do you think i can ask the owner of those mini z to sell me one of them?? Thank you

you would have to buy a whole car because they modify the chassis to only use 3 cells!! here is my first attempt at it, not too bad but i made the wing too tall..looks good on the track though! the wing is actually stronger than the stock one and when it gets hit too hard it comes apart at the seam instead of breaking the plastic

if you are willing to pay the price i can build you one but it will not be cheap!! the MIA guys spare no expensive in making them perfect and it shows but i cant imagine them beating the crap out of them on the track!! i actually started making a braun car last week! do you already have an F1?

MantisMMA
2009.06.04, 10:52 PM
It depends , do you have a car? do you plan on racing it? i can build it but that front wing would not last 5 minutes on an RCP track!! i just sold an F1 today that could have been used.

to do exactly the way they have done it would probably be around 500.00 or more and would take a long time to build (probably at least a month).

if you look at most of those pics the cars have stock knuckles ,tie rods, tires look unused. which tells me that they dont race them ( at least the ones in the pix)

i believe the pics posted on their site... http://www.mirai.ne.jp/~nobu-f/ is more like the media presentation to the press of the real cars...

i also believe, (as hard as it is) they do race them... the site goes back a while and i've seen video's of them racing their cars... such a delight to see... kinda cringe when i see a mishaps happening here and there...

personally i would like to have kept some as shelf queens...

I'm a newbe to the F1 scene because its starting to get popular at Fast Pace racing. I was think of using the Life packs just because I want to reduce the number of times I have to remove my Mantis T-plate (which imo hooks up much better than the 2 side plates).
I was checking out this set up you posted, what are the benifits of using the 3 battery set up? Thanks and I'm drooling over those F1s you posted.

hi easy rider... pretty cool idea using life packs... i guess if there's a will there's a way...
anyway to answer you question... one thing i can think of is reduced weight...

if you follow the mia (http://miaf1.blog67.fc2.com/blog-category-13.html) (mini-z japan f-1) they reproduce the f-1 during the season... so i guess they just outdid themselves by reproducing the 2009 cars up to the extent of hacking up the chassis... ingenious as ruf put it...

if you read through the thread... here's a summary from the first few posts regarding the new 2009 cars... looked like for 2009, they had a 3 cell regulation... as for all those f-1 pics... you can thank miaf1.com... hope this helps... :D

===
how is the performance of a 3 cell mini-z f-1??? was that intentionally done to simulate the power decrease for the 2009 season??? hehehe

===

We had used a normal motor up to now.
However, a normal motor is too slow in 3 cell specification.
If it is this speed, Max Mosley might be overjoyed.

We decided to use V-motor in 2009 Seasons.
The pinion gear sets 8T.

At last, we obtained the V8 engine(V-motor + 8T Gear)!!!

The problem is not in the responses other than the speed.
(Steering wheel responses,Throttle responses)

===

>is there anything special about the v-motor? so you mean kyosho x-speed motor?

However, "4cell+stock" used 6T pinions.
Those differences might be actually few.

We use only the pinion of 6T or 8T.
7T and 9T (...Teeth of odd number) are too noisy!

>Where is the driver though?
These pictures mimic the symposium photograph.
The driver made of KYOSYO tries to make it greatly because it is so small.

It is a link of the references.

Toyota is scheduled to be opened to the public at the end of this week end.

>miaf1 are all of these three cell????

Yes! all three cell car.
It is Our regulation!

Thanks Herman,
That makes sense. Over here I think we are going to use Atomic USAs in our races but I've been using a Speedy 07 in my F1. I have a SP2 Carbon Limited that I just had FETTED and want to try an Atomic AD. I let Tjay test with it and he's hooked! lol
Now that I look back at it, I wish I would have bought 2 or 3 of them because Kyosho only released 1000 of them.

I never bother to even look into F1 threads. lol I don't have an F1, I don't want to even bother to play with one. F1 cars just sucks in handling! It's suppose to be a great handling car just like the real thing but mini-z F1 just really feels like iwaver or xmod cars. Ok, maybe not that bad but still doesn't interest me and others who got spoiled on how MR02/MR03 feels. Then mantis came...

Imagine an F1 that can run on worn down rear tires w/out spin outs. What about not doing anything to the car but just drop it off on the track and drive? An F1 that runs like a Pan body on a 98mm config with round bumper, whaaat?!! These things are just unheard off, at least not for F1.

I spent at least 2 hours on the track with the same lube on the damper plate until it dried out, same tires until it was slicks and ran it with speedy07 on hot packs over and over... The car was fast with zero tuning needed. This is due to the new rear end providing tons of rear traction and round front bumper that makes your car glide around the corners. If you have an F1, you MUST have these parts and that's that. :)

Btw, thanks easyrider for letting test drive your car for two days. lol

Do you now which version (v1 or v2 or the improved v1) front bumper was on the car you were running, sounds like you were happy with the results and which one would you recommend if any?

F1s are loads of fun & offer a completely different driving experience in a good way. don't have Mantisworx parts yet because F1 class is not raced here much, however I saw huge improvements by switching to PN rear mount and was keeping up with 02s on practice runs with everyone on PN70s. The best novelty class IMO & needs to become more popular.

mugler: Sorry but I have no idea which version but I'll find out for you or easyrider can post it here if he doesn't mind.

Yes, I'm very happy with the F1's now and if you enjoy and like how your F1 feels now, you will like it even more with the mantis parts. It's night and day difference for me and the rest of the guys that drove this F1 with mantis parts. It's just not the same kyosho F1 with PN/ATM parts that we know. It's another beast...

Mugler- The bumper on "easyrider" f1 is the mantis worx V2. I put this car together for easyrider and I am hooked now! My F1 with Mantis parts should be finished tomorrow :) Never drove an F1 that felt just like a touring car but more stable.

Thanks Ryan for hooking me up and Tjay's right. The tweaking and maintenance on the F1 is very minimal which I love about this car. I'm looking forward to Thursday's F1 class. The only thing that blows is, you go out thinking you're running fast lap times and here comes Sagisi and Tjay running .5 second faster lap times and consistently! LoL
Back to the front bumper, I heard somewhere that the V1 bumper isn't allowed in some races. Can anyone verify this myth?

All races that ive heard/been to allow the V1 front bumper.

V1 - more protection and looks pretty good.
V2 - a little less protection (from wall snagging), but looks slightly better.;):)

^When the bumpers first came out they were banned from the PNWC but later the ruling was changed to allow them. Both bumpers are legal in all the races I have been to, I haven't seen any other bans on them.

V1 has more deflection on the boards, V2 has more downforce...

This is the wrong thread for this discussion, if a moderator reads this, please move these threads to the Mantis Worx section.

Hey thanks all for answers and input. Looks like an F1 MWx purchase binge will be a good idea:D

Going back to thread subject needless to say these bodies are off the charts in the coolness category...I wonder if we'll see a new chassis from Kyosho and therefore new creations from MIA after the 2012 season when the cars go turbooooooo.

Herman, I know its not as pretty as your F1s but here's mine with the Mantis parts. Sagsi hooked me and installed everything and changed my diff to a 64 pitch. We decided to only run USA motors at FPR to make the racing equal.
