Looks like everything is modded out with K parts sans the
knuckles and springs of course. Doesn't look like a top
shock can be fitted.

Was thinking about shipping my two out for the asf swap...

This looks like a better alternative. Red alloy is a nice touch.

I wonder how much the retail on that would be over here. :D

i'm sure it won't be cheap but i'll be swapping my converted chassis out for this one when it gets here.

you can install the rear damper, you just have to shim the bracket up above the ics port. i've seen this done using bushings.

I need to get one of those. The battery contacts alone are a good selling point. Should also be stronger... I wonder if they fixed the tweak?

Yah, all I'm eyeballing is the black chassis. Wondering what the flex characteristics will do with the handling.

finally a 2.4ghz asf f-1... :D
looks pretty good too... bearings, ball diff and heat sink... not to mention all black chassis, and are those gold battery terminals?

just hope it's not a limited release run though...

there was no clear indication it was limited edition as the awd and mr-02 sp kits were.

Dunno.

The red alloy and black chassis are alarming
in that they are similar to the limiteds for the 02.

If it is a niche, I suspect these numbers will be
similar to the 02s as that 10th anniversary stamp
appeared on every other limited run...:p

-----

You'd think after all these years, the f1
would have a few different options for
skeletons like the other rides...

i have no idea if they are available now in japan yet. tack on the month delay between japan release and u.s. release and they are not going to be here anytime soon in my opinion.

however... the anniversary mr-02 is already in the u.s. and both i believe were disclosed at the same toy fair.

The Limited MR-02 is available at Atomic. They haven't even released pricing yet on the 2.4 so I am going to guess Sept-Oct in the US. I just bought my first F1 car and I am so stoked on getting to the track tomorrow to drive it.

EMU
2009.05.01, 03:40 PM
I checked with my Atomic distributor, and they do not have the Mr02 limited chassis... I assume you are referring to Atomic-Mods.

Please do not call Atomic-Mods Atomic. Atomic is a parts manufacturer, Atomic-Mods is an e-tailer. They are not related.

I hope the F1 SP chassis set is released soon. While I already have 2 ASF F1's... I really want this chassis.

arch2b
2009.05.01, 03:49 PM
correct, PLEASE do not refer to atomic mods as atomic. totally different meaning.

atomic mods and tinyrc both have the 10th anniversary chassis available for preorder. i did not check rckenon

does anyone know if they created a new mold for this chassis so it doesnt have the tweak in it or did they just go with a black plastic...

i really hope they went with a new mold or it is no different to me than just converting a am like i have...

ruf
2009.05.06, 07:44 PM
I doubt they created a new mold, but I think that the tweak in the clear chassis is more likely a manufacturing issue with the plastic than the mold. Can't say for sure until we get the black chassis in.

Just got word today that the new F-1's are in stock!! I've ordered two through Gyro Hobbies in Lake Forest! Should be able to pick them up tomorrow!!
I'll be trying them Wed evening at Matshushida's-- after picking up the OLD version F-1's and discovering a MASSIVE tweak to the left:rolleyes:-- I hope these will have that issue solved. After putting 1/8" of washers under the chassis and removing the middle 2 screws--I was able to get the car around the track with stock front tires and the 10's in the back. But it's still not a nice handling beast. Hopefully, the new cars will have some serious upgrades. I'll let you know what I find Wednesday night!!:D

Well I've gotten a couple of these new F-1's! I haven't been able to make enough changes to them to get them to handle well yet--but in their stock form--they DO come with the "sticky" 10 degree tires on the rear--and neither car exhibited any "tweak" that my original F-1 car had. I'm putting a PN rear motor pod on and did have to put the hardened king pins in to get the front end to work. I've ordered new front springs and 2 degree knuckles -- in stock form they still have FAR too much steering bias.
I've got shocks for the rear--but I'm wondering how the disk dampener would work in the above pics---it appears that the entire board could easily be moved forward from it's current position so you wouldn't have to cut the shock mount like in the picture.
I'll let you know in a week or so--how the changes I"ve made work out. But so far--it appears the car is far superior to the previous offerings. Oh--BTW--it come with ball bearings and a ball diff!!

Don't use the 10 degrees F1 rear tires they do not grip the RCP like the 20 degrees. Kyosho 20 degrees F1 rears are the best for the F1. Then try 40 degrees F1 fronts in combo with the 20 degree rear, if that does not give you enough steering then try the 30 degree F1 fronts in combo with the 20 degree rears.

In short the 10 degrees are to soft. I don't even think they grip has well has a 30 degree tire

EMU
2009.08.20, 04:10 PM
This chassis set comes with 30d front and 20d rear tires.

Try Kyosho 20/23 slick fronts, PN 15d fronts or 40d Kyosho/ATM fronts...

Timmig
2009.08.20, 07:59 PM
Thanks guys---I'll try the different tire suggestions once I've finished putting the new knuckles in the front also. I won't have a chance to run on RCP track again until Matshushima's new 1/28th Speedway will be open Sept 1st. But I'll be prepared with the tires/ rear shock etc.

There is a new conversion set that was just released in Japan. It has the black chassis, 2.4 electronics and battery cover. I think that this is what is going to be available for the masses. I will post more information later when I get a chance.

I almost bought a new 2.4 f1 just for the chassis, I found a listing for the chassis and small parts set on a japanese Kyosho page. I am curious to see the handling differences and see if the tweak issue is still there. Release was set for August so hopefully we will see them soon, guess I'll just have to wait a bit.

There was also a listing for a inner tube damper set for the F1, wonder what it looks like.

Here are the part numbers-

2.4asf small parts set-MF13

Damper tube set-MFW15

i bought mine from the shop here :) took 3 days to get is which is normal in my experience. i will post more picture tonight. i have not put it on the track yet as the thick hfay motor wires pinch between the body and motor heat sink. there is 0 clearance back there. i may have to go back to my pn motor mount.

off topic
the keyboard is the mac number keypad keyboard. $50 and works great! they have a shorted model without the number keypad and wireless model. mine is usb. the only thing i have not fixed is the ctrl+alt+dlt combo. it's an easy fix i'm told but otherwise it looks as good as it feels and works. i hate clunky keys/keyboards.

sure, it's an all black f1 with nice shiny red parts with the bonus of being 2.4ghz :p i'm still trying to get mine dialed. the diff was way to tight right out of the box. i ditched the stock motor pod and red motor heat sink for my pn motor mount. i still need to get a rear mono shock installed to see if that helps me any.

it's a nice update to the tried and true f1.

ran mine at the shop track for the last week, its MUCH better than the clear one!
i was already running 2.4 in my old f1 but this seems punchier for some reason, even with a 9t pinion it flies:)
my only problems were it has stock white servo gears that are really noisy and the red diff/rear pod and gear side rear tyre were coated in some kind of oil out of the box.
also one of the rear stock springs was almost 2mm longer than the other!

it has 10r and 20f tyres fitted as it comes, the 10r seem a little squirmy over here so went back to the 20's i usually run
overall its a better looking chassis, the red bits are a good touch(shame i wont be using the motor heatsink)

Are these chassis long gone? Where can I find one?

EMU
2010.01.05, 04:23 PM
They were sold out at my Japan source before I could get all the ones that I wanted...

You should be able to get the chassis itself, without electronics... It is much better than the old one. Primarily due to the battery compartment. No longer do slight taps on the boards momentarily disconnect the batteries, which turn the car off, then on (about 5 seconds). As the springs age with use, they get softer and softer... The new chassis uses similar terminals to MR02/015/03, instead of the ones like the MR01 (spring). So you have a much better connection.
