Ive talked it over with the fam, and its looking like Im going to be able to make this trip. Weve got a group of three committed, and Im going to see what I can do about bringing a few more :D

Im not settled on what classes to run, but Id be most interested in AWM, AWS, F1S, and of course 2WS. Id probably run all four of them if they are available. Ill have to see how my pan cars fair at the SC race before I say im interested in either of those, lol.

Same as 2WD Stock Class, just change the following rules

Body : 86-90mm body only (except Ferrari F40)
Wheels : front and rear narow rims 20mm wheels only
Tire : front and rear 8.5mm width only
Motor : Handout PNWC 70T motors only

this is kinda off topic but there is a little bit of talk around about increasing power for the F1's to maybe a speedy 07 just for that class. is this a possibilty, do we need to get a petition going, what are the steps?

EMU
2009.05.15, 02:44 PM
I agree that the F1 is perfect with a Speedy 07, which is the motor I do most of my setup on. If the motor is switched for that class, will it be that way for the World race, and other regionals? I would want to run the same motor that is being used for all of the regionals, just to keep consistancy, and see how the lap times and lap count compare.

Hi Philip

You should consider taking out the Ferrari F355 also since that body is a 90mm and you can put almost the same offset has the F40 (keep everyone from running just the F355). In fact it would really eliminate the advantage if you would say in addition to the above rules the rims front and back should be zero offset.

EMU
2009.05.15, 03:08 PM
You have to cut a pretty big hole to make clearance for the damper plate on the f355. When Ben Lee used his at the KO race, it had to have been hitting the body, which made the car very hard to drive. You cannot use the same wheels offsets on the F40 as the F355. F40 is 2.5N/2W on an MR015, F355 is 1N/.5W on an 015. I run 0N/0W on my f355 in 94mm position. If we are running narrows all around, I do not think that the offset should be limited. As the widest that you can get a rear wheel (3N), would be equivalent to a 0W. So you cannot run a very wide offset in the rear anyway.

JuniorWKR
2009.05.15, 03:32 PM
EMU... I love it when you post...

And im all for the speedy 07 in the F1 as I am running the equivalant atomic stock right now... it would make for a very godd and exciting race... and its only a touch faster than a 70t in 015 due to the weight... so we wont be flying around the track... we will just be keeping up with the pace..

Ok I stand corrected on the offset of the f355 but I still think keeping everyone to a zero offset would really even up the field and remove advantages that some bodies may have. Like squeezing a 1 offset on a car that suppose to have zero offset also that would keep racers from running/looking for one or two type of bodies to run.

I agree more power for the F1:D

EMU
2009.05.15, 04:27 PM
If you limit the offset, then some of the wider bodies, or higher bodies, will lose their competetiveness. If you want to restrict the front to 0N, thats fine, but leave the rear open to find the offset that works best. A 0N rear is very narrow. Almost all bodies should be able to work with a 2N in the rear (equivalent to -1W).

There will allways be better bodies, and wider offsets do not necessarily mean faster around the track. Otherwise, the LP500 would dominate the 90mm class, since it is the widest 90mm body available.

Yeah I agree larger offset is not always better, in fact I prefer a narrow car to a wide car. But at 90mm, if the chassis is a 015 then offset matters

what chassis is allowed for the 90mm class? if its the 015 then offset will matter, unless they have the EMU wide track front end for the 015:D. If its the 02 then it shouldn't matter.

The LP500 has larger offset then the F40? wow.

Well, if I make that race, I have a ferrari dino, mini cooper, and the nissan skyline 2000 gtr kgp I could run. Also, if they allow 86mm to be rimmed to 90mm then I have a Martini Porsche I could run, also, the PN 90mm mid mount fits it I tried it :D

P.S. EMU Slip Angle Chaser's Grotto is almost ready for some more time trials:D

Any 90mm chassis, I do not think it is 2wd specific... it is a 70t class, so motor gearing and drivetrain loss will slow the AWD too much to make it competetive against 2wd on the same track...

LP400 is 1.5N/0W on the MR015. Although, I am pretty sure you can fit 0N/1W (at least) on an MR02. LP500S is 1N/3W on an MR02. So it is wider, although it really cant take a hit or a brush on the boards at all.

I did a lot of testing on my MR02 90mm MM tonight at NYRC. I started with Audi TT, moved to RX-7, then S2000. I then switched from the MR015 tower bars to PN A-Arms, with -1N fronts. It is almost as fast as my F430GT with the ATM USA motor. If I push it too hard into the sweeper, I can roll it. Funny, that I can push my MR015 355 harder through the sweeper :p

I still need to work out a few details with the suspension, find out which damper plate position I like the best. Started with the forward most position, then changed to the rear most position. I liked the feel of the rear most position more.

Definitely need to do some Mini-96 time trialing... :D

Cool!!! so 90mm is not specific to 2wd. Yeah I agree the AWD with a 70T may not be has competitive with a 2wd. I have a bone stock(well, alum universal joints, and alum motor holder) AWD at 90mm ready to run its lighter than my other 2wd I think it was around 175 grams maybe a couple grams more. Its fast with the ATM USA motor and the Ferrari Dino fits it nicely :D.

Once I am done with the basement and put the track back up, I'll let you know:D

EMU

I would choose the LP500... low, wide, and light ;) just sucks in any collisions. I need to look into a few different bodies. The Silvia looks remarkably similar to the F355, although it is a little narrower 0N/-1W max, while the 355 can fit 1N/.5W

Cherub1m

I was just wondering, 86mm and 90mm bodies are allowed what if someone wants to extend a 86mm body to a 90mm is that legal? Also, if someone wants to take a 94mm body and rim it forward to fit a 90mm is that legal?

Personaly I would prefer only 86mm and 90mm bodies only and allow riming 86mm to 90mm or 90mm to 86mm(I dont think anyone would want to rim a 90mm to a 86mm but you never know:D)

Hey Larry, this is fun class, I want to open discuss the rules here, because I want everyone can get fun from this class.

For my concept all 86mm and 90mm body can use, just except the wheel and tire rules, No wide wheel and tire (11mm), must be use narrow front and rear wheel and tire (8.5mm)

a class with all norrow bodies only would make the competition tighter... you wont have a runaway car then... so any body that comes with 0 narrow offset front and rear would be great... i dont believe the 70t motor will push the suspension that hard that we wont be able to tune the cars not to flip... i built my 02 chassis with a mini cooper body and it does not flip so im confident in running it... i also built a 015 with a silvia body... so im good to go...

this is being called a FUN class.....
lets keep it fun and use the unusual body. Something that is not sleek and is low to the ground. Im gonna be running a mini cooper or vw bug or my vitz....
I would like to see all hi mount bodys only but I know there are a few trophy whores  who only care about winning....
I believe the spirit of this class is to run something that is sort of non competitive and make it compete.....:D

That is exactly what I mentioned in a previous post. It would be best to run the fun class with all narrow bodies meaning bodies that originally come with ZERO OFFSET all these bodies: Ferrari F40, Ferrari F355, Lamborghini LP500, are all very low to the ground and can accommodate much wider tires then there original offset. I just got the Lamborghini LP500 I can tell you if you get two equal drivers and well set up 90mm MR02 chassis, the LP500 will win especially on the infield.

Furthermore, I feel not only should the 86mm, 90mm fun class should use originally narrow bodies with narrow offset only, that class should only use zero offset rims and narrow tires only. I am not sure about semi wide tires, because the Kyosho and PN narrow tires are true narrow tires and if someone uses ATM narrow tires those are like Kyosho (I dont know if PN makes semi wide tires) semi wide tires. So, not to limit choices then I would say semi wide should be allowed, does that make a difference I think it does, I've used semi wide on my Mini Cooper and it does make it track a little better.

I think with these rules that class will truly be a fun class and will even the playing field and would eliminate one body running away from the field. We have ENOUGHlow CG and wide bodies running in other classes its time to see more of Mini Cooper's, Ford Focus', and NISSAN Skyline 2000GTR (KPG10) running on the RCP :D

Junior, slow down for a minute buddy. I understand what classes PN offers for the PNWC series. We just hosted one down here in SC, so I am very familiar with the rules and the classes. Most places that host these events though, dont get enough participation to have 8 people in every class. In those situations they offer only the classes that they can actually fill.

Does Maj's plan on filling all 8 classes that you listed? If so thats great, but if not, Id like to know which classes will be run on that weekend in Maj's hobby shop.

FWIW, we only had interest enough to run four of the classes. At RCX they ran Pan mod, Pan stock, and 2WD stock, and in Sweden they ran, Pan mod, 2WD stock, and F1.

JuniorWKR
2009.05.28, 02:59 PM
we have about 20 guys alone in our shop alone and all the guys are running a min of 2-3 classes... i will run all but am undecided on awd and wether or not it will be stock or mod... from the responses on the is thread and the conversations with other racers from other tracks i believe we will easily be greater than 50 racers...

JuniorWKR
2009.05.28, 03:01 PM
if all classes are going to be run including the 90mm fun class what classes do you plan on running and have you decided whether or not you will run mod or stock from your recent experience?

hrdrvr
2009.05.28, 03:17 PM
^ I dunno. If I had to choose my favortie classes, Id say F1S, 2WS, AWM, and AWS, but after our last event, Id like to get my pan cars on the track again, and Im not sure my stock 2WD can hang with you guys. If I had to decide today, Id say pan mod, F1, AWD mod, and either pan stock or 2WS whichever has more participation.

Oh, and as far as misunderstanding, its all good. Its hard to portray things in text sometimes....heck most people dont know what Im talking about when we are face to face, lol.

The Ramada is about $70 a night. Rochelle Park is the next town over. Remember the track is in Saddlebrook.
Paramus is about 7-10 minutes away and Fort Lee is about 10-15 minutes...

If you are traveling east on Market (from Paterson) The building stands out.
It is on the corner behind the gas station.

If you are traveling west on Market (from Hackensack) instead of making the left into Majs....Make a right at Krausers. The new shop is directly behind it.

You too!!!... LOL... i signed up for 4 - 2wd stock, 2wd mod, pan stock and 90mm.... i will make a decision that weekend about f1 and awd depending on the amount of people... if there are alot of people it will be a slower pace and i can probally handle another class... as it stands now with the head count by word of mouth this point we are already looking at close to 60 racers... so i figure 4 classes will be a good pace...

Can Maj's new shop handle 100 racers? There are probably 61 racers who haven't signed up for the arce yet. Go make it an all week event!!!! 90mm here I come. Does Ro-lan-do still have his reserved pit spot sponsored by Burger King?

Philip, I have a question. For all the 70 trun handout motors, do you randomly give them out or is it already assigned when racers pick up? Our local racers must know the answer before we sign up. Some won't come if the motors are already assigned.

All handout motor is not assigned, all handout have serial number and take the motor by drivers himself, all PN race is same rule, I think all drivers knew that, if they attend PN race before.

I know the motors are numbered but are the motors randomly given? Which means there is no order in which motors with serial number is given out?

Example:

I walk to PN tech table. Philip hands me motor 123 which is already recorded with Sai Tam in the computer. Does it work this way?

Or

I walk to PN tech table. Philip picks the next available or random motor and records the serial number in the computer?

A group of racers here need to confirm. I remember PN Regional was random motor has the rule changed?

But we have a 300ft private driveway that can accomodate tents and pit tables. So yes 100 + racers is not a problem. Just the first 75 gets the luxury of an AC enviroment. Mid summer july get's to be a tad hot!

The new shop is now closer to Burger King, Roland should have no problem seeing the track from there.:D:p

Some guy who raced at a recent event in CA told me he got the pre-assigned slow 70T motor from you at an event. I remember PN Regional was random motor.

All motors show on the tech table, drivers picks the motor by himself, then we mark down the number, after the race tech guys will be check the motor number same as our record.

WE NEVER PRE-ASSIGNED motor to drivers, we never know which one is FAST or SLOW, this is NOT true story.

Sai, tell everyone you knew, if they don't like PN race, tell them save their money.

I know the PN regional was always random motor. However, the KO race in CA was pre-assigned. I wasn't there to witness it but this is what I was told. Rules may change and newcomers are not aware.

Everybody loves PN here; but many just can't get your parts at NYRC. I had to drive extra distance to buy a 90mm PN motor mount because NYRC doesn't carry it.

I drive an all PN 90mm Beetle from time to time to compete with MR-02; the local drivers know how capable my Beetle could be.

In our lot alone we have 70 parking spots. Then accross the street there is another 100. Also the MHS private driveway. ;) It's NJ parking is never a problem...:p

But carpooling is always welcome. MHS is always pro green. : ) "That for all you environmentalist" ;)

This is not the point; the people have plenty of money to buy or race. There are people who are new to Mini-z here in NYC and they wanted to know. I cannot tell them a definite answer for the motor rules.

Thank you for your information, you had race our event before, please explain to them.

You said the KO at CA was pre-assigned motors, I don't know, that is KO race, NOT PN race, I just go there to race, my handout motor was pick by myself, so this question I think you need ask Binh (Insideline racing owner) to explain.

Chad, sorry about that, because this is bigger regional, we forecast around 150 entries, if everyone add or cancel the class at the race day, all schedule should be too much trouble come out, so we need force to everyone sign up before cut off day, and we post the heat sheet at 7/21, all drivers can read it, if something mistake on heat sheet, we have time to correct it, I hope you will understand.

That is the cost of an organized race. Just think of the positives from it.
On raceday before you even get to the track you know what races your in.....
Now you can calculate when to peak your cells....what times you have to eat get lunch and what time your first day will end....
You have till the 19th to sign up so you should know by then if you are in or out. Now if your worried about pitting outside possibly well then sign up now for one class and the most you will lose is only one entry.
If racers have to pit outside it will be just like racing at Jackson or Blue Diamond.....the only difference is the racing environment is in AC.....

Hey Philip

Earlier you mentioned a 90mm Hatchback fun class. However, from the posted rules it looks like you can run any 90mm body. Could you clarify if the bodies are only 90mm Hatchback (I hope so:D) or any 90mm body (I hope not:D). I may have missed your decision on this class, but, if I didn't, make it Hatchback:D.

I havent signed up yet, but Im 90% sure Im going to run AWM. Im torn on some other classes though. I know I want to run F1, and two other classes as well. For the other two (AWM + F1 + 2 more), Ive got everything but a good 2WM, and Id like to run all of them, lol. Im thinking Ill run 2WS and PCS, but Id like to get to run with yasuji and Davey G.....hmmm.......

If you need another racer for Pan Mod, closer to the race, I will pick it up just to have the class race...

I can switch from 2wd mod to pan mod since the 2wd mod already has enough people.

If it comes down to it, I could switch from 2WD Mod to Pan Car Mod.

The number one class I want to see is AWD Mod, been waiting for that...
