the gold on that looks really nice,

before I saw that you painted it I was going to ask what special editions that chassis was.

That turned out great Arch, I've got a clear 02 chassis that I've been thinking about painting. I'd like to try painting the inside of the PCB cover to avoid any scratches or wear from maintenance.

thanks, i'm sure it's going to get scratched up for sure but i tend too replace my car every year so i've got another 6 months on this one and i'm not one to worry about scratches, etc.

does anyone have a tip for getting the e clip off the ball diff? it was an enormous pain and i know there has to be an easier way.

i cleaned the bearings last month so i left those alone today. i won't bother with the motor as i'll be replacing those next month.

i was amazed at all the rcp dust inside the chassis. i'm not sure how it all gets in there but it does. today was the first time i've opened the car up in 4 months or more as well.

just passing the time :) spent about an hour tonight tweaking stuff on my test track tonight too. i really should have cleaned my car a long time ago. i just slapped it back in the box after racing and took it out again before the next race.

how often are you guys cleaning your car thoroughly?

I usually clean mine after every race. I just try to get the dust off the diff and remove any dust build up around moving parts. I would say I do a thorough cleaning every few months if i'm actively racing or my lap times are getting slower.

Don't use a metallic paint for that though. I would hate to think what a paint chip would do if it dropped onto the board while the car was running. Maybe nothing but then again. By the way. You will be at the top of the list for a side AMPER when we get cranking. It was good to see you again.

ahh, already thought of that. the interior is not painted. i masked off the interior so as not to fiddle with the tight clearances and reduce the potential for paint chips inside the car:p

ran it with core and absolutely no issues whatsoever. those concerned with weight should not do this however. any little bit adds weight but my hfay goal is top 20, not top 10;) to paraphrase imx, it's not worth getting there if you don't enjoy the trip. it was something like that but you get the point:p

Have you taped over the massive hole in the left battery tray? Without a crystal to block debris (and the hole below blocked so everything that enters stays) it's like a big track dust funnel. Only a matter of time before it ends up in your servo gears. ;) After my first big servo bind with the ASF I taped over it with a thin strip of packing tape on all of my chassis.

I did last night- SP^2 I suppose, since I put 2.4 sticker on the AD cover(and I noticed that newer batches of probably ANY covers come with AM/AD/2.4 holes cut out and have stickers for both headers and smaller, color matched stickers for holes not used at the moment).

And nothing beats a little personal touch ;)

Plus I might kick back while practicing and use my xmod foam tires to save tearing down the good rubber ones.

yep, i have the plug that covers the xtal hole. over 5+ months it must just work its way in through every tiny hole.

Thank you both for the helpful advice about the PCB cover painting. If I do decide to try painting the inside of the cover I will experiment with non-metallic paint and use one of my older AM cars to try this out.. Mleemor60, it was a pleasure to see you again as usual, let me know when those side-dampers are available and I'd love to pick one up...
