This is my first Mini-Z, and my first proper RC, however i enjoy tinkering and playing with things like this so i decided to get this, after being steered clear of the Xmods :P. I decided to go for an AWD so that i can both race and drift, drift being the most desirable for me :)
Went for the 2.4Ghz after being recommended to get that over the AD/AM.
Got it a couple of days ago along with some Fujicell 1100's and so far have the following:

Atomic Full Bearing Kit,
Atomic Ball Diff (only rear so far)
GPM Battery Heatsink (not on as of yet)
Insulation Tape on Stock Tyres for Drift
Atomic Tyres for Racing.
Atomic MultiTool

I also bought some cheap used shells off ebay so that i won't ruin my GTR, as it is a fantastic car :)

Try using all wide rims w/ tape. I noticed that w/ drift tires a full wide setup is much more controllable than all-narrow.

yea i've got tape on the standard tyres on the standard rims,
and switch the tyres over to the race ones occasionally,
but i'll eventually get some good rims, are there any specific ones that you'd recommend?

You've been saying wheel-well clipping aka "flush" is good, which it isn't. I haven't had much luck fitting W fronts into many bodies before thus haven't really tried using this setup. For that matter, smoothing out the drift tire edge does wonders for making front Ws work well- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhCv4tXZ-pY If it wasn't for this tech that VaZRacer & Tallgeese showed me originally, front wide drift would've failed miserably.

I'm not sure i see the point to that vid, doesn't that just make the contact patch the same as a N tyre?

Wider maybe better, but I still prefer the Subaru WRX and that shall be my next one soon. If I want to go wide for super-grip racing, I'll get the Mercedes Mclarern SLR if I can still find one since that proved to be very good for me.

im running narrows all round with the edges rounded but not to that extreme.
when you get the drift tyres use narrows and key up the tyres with some 120 grit paper, much more control:)

I would simply round the edges off but not that extreme. I think the narrow tires are a bit more round themselves whereas wides are flat, so they should provide a better contact patch regardless.
