Hey everyone!

Last year was a lot of fun but since then I have been practicing and am looking forward to racing with you guys again. Of course, I can't promise if you come that you won't "lose to a girl." ;)

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2628/3956841052_286bbfb462_o.jpg

Please post here and let me know who would be able and willing to make it. Otherwise I guess I'll be bored and just fall asleep under the tables again.....

-I read some of you guys suggestions, this year if we can get enough track, we will have a seperate track for pro racers (hint-hint, PM me if you can bring some track!)

Here is the info I have:

-Race is free, however, membership to the convention will be $40

-Nekocon is November 6-8, schedule in the works.

-Event will be held at Hampton Convention Center
address- 1610 Coliseum Dr., Hampton, VA 23666

-Convention Hotel Reservation (reduced rate for attendees) click HERE (http://embassysuites.hilton.com/en/es/groups/personalized/PHFCCES-NKC-20091102/index.jhtml) (RESERVE BY OCT. 7)

-Reflex has offered to sponsor the event again and Christian Tabush himself MIGHT be able to attend!

It was a lot of fun last year I hope that even on this delayed startup we can have a great event!

I don't think I am making it to Barcelona this year, so I will consider coming. Sponsorship of the event is a definite. Maybe some of the guys from the NYC area want to come play...

I'm in, but if Neko's big enough I prolly won't be sticking around the track for too long ;) Also, given its an anime con, please include drifting race/time slot/something. I'll expect most of you to bring at least 1 car from Initial D or Wangan Midnight.

I'm down... I can bring track if required, although my cargo space is limited to about 1 WideL's worth with the new sled. (Also depends on how many others from my crew want to attend as well)

Wow! Really? We appreciate Reflex Racings generosity and overall support for the hobby. Brandon (Action B) would be really excited if you could make it. He orders from you frequently and has even talked to you on the phone a few times. His AWD setup is based on your car from your website but hes not as fast as you so maybe you could give him a couple tips lol;)

Great! I'm really glad you can make it. A wide L would be great. We could set your wide L up for the general attendees and the large track setup could be for the pros. This will ensure everyone gets plenty of practice.

I'm up for a drift session. There will be sufficient practice time for you to get in some drifting for sure. Maybe I'll make an initial D drift car too. I assume you'll bring an FD?

Race info at top updated!

There are several hotels in the area, however, the closest and most convenient is just a short walk away at the Embassy Suites. We get a discounted rate if reserved by October 7th. So don't delay!

I beleive room rate is $134. Those rooms have two beds per and I believe a couch so you should be able to accomodate a few people in each room! Lets get this together and make it a great event!

Besides my game FD and KPG, I'll have plenty by then- Evo 6es, Kei's FD, Ryo's FC, Night Kids R32/Reina's R32, ex-driver europa, "monster machine" Supra, God Foot R34, maybe God Hand S2000, maybe white Testa from Wangan Midnight as well. So the question should be, "what won't you bring?" lol

no, haven't booked anything yet. money is tight and i can't afford a room to ourselves (me and my son). the room is only used for sleeping and your only going to end up spending maybe 7-10 hours in it. i get there early sat. morning and leave sunday afternoon.

Yeah, its 6-8th. So it would be two nights. Arch2b probably plans on staying one night, however, PM me if you need a place to stay and I'll see what inexpensive arrangements I can find out for you. I'm going to work on a group room for those wanting to make a cheap trip of it (like a true con goer).

The race is really designed to bridge a gap between the two. I think a lot of convention attendees would enjoy racing. We hold the event to raise awareness to our great hobby and hopefully attract some new racers.

Hey guys, sorry I haven't been too active on the forums lately, especially in regard to our own event. I've been really busy, and this year I'm not in three, but 4.5 departments for the convention. I'm hoping to delegate considerably *pokes Action B* and perhaps insist we revisit the org chart this year.

Aaaaaanyway. It's always a blast. This year I think it would be cool if the racers could crash a local joint for dinner or something, or even just beer and pizza back at the hotel. Lookin forward to seeing everybody!

Can't get membership badges a head of time, but there is a reg line and a pre-reg line, the latter of which moves much faster. Unfortunately, and entirely my fault, we're too late for pre-reg. I have not been on point this year :( Next year I'll try to get the post up the same day that pre-reg begins.

i only say should be because there is always some last minute list snafu where have been left off a list, overlooked, whatever. never a problem, just another 30 minutes or so saturday morning in registration while it's getting figured out. lets hope the staff site is keeping a better list year:p my son is old enough to help out more with cars too. he knows enough to marshall, etc. he's still not allowed to drive unless he practices more.

Yeah, most cons that comp rooms to staff do so on a limited basis and with some strict regulations, ie no co-ed, and you may not get any say in the people you room with. All said and done, you'd probably prefer to get your own room if you have the means.

Anyway, Ray, you're on staff :)

Looks like the status of the amatuer event is questionable (the event for non-racer Nekocon Attendees). Since we gave away cars from our own collection last year to amateur race winners, I'm not sure we have enough cars to loan out for amateur event. Right now all I have to offer is an MA-010 and a lancia delta body (not the most suitable for the event but its all I have). If anyone else has any cars that can be *borrowed* for the amateur event let me know. I can't guarantee that no damage will be incurred but last year all cars survived (with some minor repairs throughout the day).

This is to help build interest in the hobby so if you can spare a car let me know!

I'm still working on track layouts but it has been tough. Everyone says they are bringing track but its difficult to determine how much!

Here is what Seven Cities Racing is bringing!
1 Core Lapcounter and 2 Computers
Tiles:
Straight wall tiles- 64
Straight bump tiles- 8
Finish line tiles- 8
Outside corner tiles- 16
Inside corner tiles- 24

Foam walls:
Straight Foam walls- 70
Bump foam walls - 8
outside corner foam walls- 16
inside corner foam walls- 24

I'm preparing to finalize the track schedule. For you and others, would it be better for a saturday event or a sat/sun event? I'm considering a single day because it allows for racers to only have to buy a single day membership which is cheaper, and allows commuters to come without having to worry about lodging. However, two days of racing is nice too if there is enough willing participants. Lets get some feedback so I can finalize this schedule!

Right now were thinking:
1. ASC class - no major body modification (96mm wheel shaving permitted etc)
2. Pan car
3. F1 class

Let me know what you guys want to run, if there is more interest in a stock/mod asc class then pan or F1 then I could always adjust the lineup. I'm looking to finalize this soon though.

I'd prefer 2 days... no point in driving that distance for just one day of racing. (IMO anyways).

As far as the classes go... Pan Car last year was just an assimilation of the Mod class so I would just call it Mod and allow Pan Car bodies. Stock is always better with the 70turns... I say we stick with that for this event, closer racing will always draw more spectators! F1 is always good with me!

For the spectators... a lighted drift class will attract interest 4 sure. Just a fun race really.

Oh yeah... can't wait to fly the MCX there again!

Alright, we certainly don't want to disappoint. Perhaps we could have one main day of racing (saturday) then setup sunday as an optional day. Great idea with the classes too. Were always open to suggestions. If we can get enough track were looking at having the pro track open fri-sunday exclusively to pros with a dedicated small track for AMs.
We could have a serious race day on saturday and then a lighted drift expo on sunday. I could even get a small panel of judges to rate the drifters style. That or we could just spread the events over Saturday and Sunday like last year with prizes given out on sunday after the final races.

Oh, yeah, and i'll be there this year with my own Eflite MCX. I purchased one after I saw yours :)

I think you should keep the racing going both days, maybe 2 heats Saturday and 1 heat and mains on Sunday knida like the PN events. This should leave plenty of time to fit drifting in too.

Yeah, we've decided to go with the original 2 day event as you have specified. Thanks for your input and we will have a track layout and schedule up in the next two days.

We've decided on the following events

ASC stock class (70 turn motor)
Modified - open class (pan bodies allowed)
F-1

Post up what you want to race in! Post up what your going to use to race!

We could race without racing... might be fun to help coach new drivers through a race. Each Stock class will be required to "hire" a willing spectator as a driver, and try to coach them through one stock race... say, 20 laps? We could do this at the conclusion of each full set of heats. Just be sure to throw a beater body on your car and let them have at it! :D

Good idea, and this is from personal experience, until you get used to driving these any technical advises are sorta pointless because you simply can't keep up with that. When I was just starting if anyone told me whats the best racing line I wouldn't be able to keep it, so I'd say we should do several pre-race basics lessons and then see how newbies do.

There is a good chance that we have 3 wide Ls to borrow from some other members of the DC club. Space seems to be the issue so we've offered to pick them up before the race and return them after.

tear inducing conflicts...

anyone from northern va, md going friday night/saturday please email me.

long story short, work requires me to be on site at restricted access facility friday night and saturday. i'm hoping to avoid absolutely crushing brandon with the news that he won't be able to go saturday. he's been talking about this for the last couple weeks and has already packed a bag. i won't be able to get down there till saturday night/sunday morning depending on when work finishes up saturday.

i was absolutely heartbroken when i got the news as this trip is one of the big things i get to do with brandon every year and something we both very much look forward to as a father/son trip/experience. being the only income generator requires me to not miss work however.

We want you to know Ray, that while were sad that you can't be here racing and enjoying the convention, we certainly wouldn't want you to go out of your way on Sunday on our behalf. The room the track in is only open from 10am to 3pm on sunday. Things end sort of early on that day.

The attendance for the pro event is nothing compared to last year. This isn't unexpected on short notice but we do have sponsorship from Reflex Racing just the same for the die-hard racers that do make it. They sent some really nice stuff and as usual were very thankful to them for supporting the event. We hope next year many racers will be able to make it and remain hopeful for some Reflex Racing members to make the race as well. Another big thanks to reflex racing for the continued support!

Amateur track attendance remained strong, however, our AM cars didn't fare as well this year as I already have one with a blown FET and another with a destroyed rearend. I'll try to get the cars up and running tomorrow for some more AMs but board repairs are a little more time consuming then simple part replacements. Igor (Skv) did a great job in gaining interest in our AM event, While Maya and I spoke with attendees about the cars and let them have a shot at driving them.

People were very enthusiastic about the track and many expressed interest in racing Mini-Z with local clubs etc.

As far as the track, here it is! There is also a wide L for amateurs to race on.

big thanks to reflex racing for providing the driver prizes! walked away with a wtfv2!

thank you expecially to brandon and maya for taking the reins and making due with what was left of the event. i know it's a lot to take on while also participating. i really enjoyed sunday and the trip was well worth it.

we had even more space this year that last! the track layout was very techincal while still having a good flow to it. once you got the rythm down it was a lot of fun.

next year i will make sure to take the time off in advance so i can spend more time at nekocon.

I'd like to thank everyone for coming that could attend and Reflex Racing for the great prizes. Reflex Racing has been very generous with sponsorship. So to the racers and reflex racing, thanks for helping us in our goal of growing the hobby. This has always been the point of the Nekocon racing events. There were a lot of interested attendees, all of which were pointing in the direction of this website and reflex racings website to get started. It was nice to see so many people from last year returning and still interested. I gave contact information out to several people and expect that some of them, may be racing alongside of us at next years bigger and better Nekocon.

One attendee insisted on getting involved and helped run the lapcounter software for most of the qualifying and Mains (two different days). Another has already ordered a Z after seeing us last year. The winner of last years event returned to run on the track with us. The list goes on and on. Were making a difference here and inducing interest into many others at these events!

Skv012a- Good racing even though you didn't have your Mars, bring it next time I'd like to race you when were both at our best.

VaZracer- Thanks for coming and dominating us. If nothing else it let me know how much further I can bring my hobby. I see an MR-02 in my future after driving yours. You let me see how much more there was to the hobby I haven't even touched on yet. This is what makes Mini-Zs so exciting to race.

arch2b- I'm glad you could make it on sunday. We have some big plans for next year. I'm sure we can see them through together. Your son seems to have improved from last year.

Soundwave raced well and no one left empty handed thanks to Reflex Racing. Overall, a smaller event than last year but no less memorable.
