Oh, fount it!

I just modified my module to fit directly into my 3pk radio. I was able to eliminate the steering glitch that I had. After tonights race, I'll probably convert my AWD with 03 board. We'll see..

Thank you Matt!

Nice work Matt! Is this the first working AWD with an 03 pcb?
It looked to be working well, from what i saw today. :D

Btw, Matt can you do me a favor? Can you take a video of the front wheels and then gradually pull the trigger. I want to see if it'll catch glitch.

Thanks in advance!

That's great Matt! Thanks for sharing! I've deffo got to do this... No more AM for me hopefully!

It's awesome how the sterring is more or less the same, regardless of the servo motor! :D

jayce,i think it could be,was good seeing you today:)

tjay, ill get a vid of it on full throttle gradually, driving the thing it doesnt do anything it shouldnt:D

tom,the steering is a little faster than it was,i just hope the awd servo motor dont draw too much more current than the 03 one..

Matt

Your Gyro MUST be put in the center of the chassis, otherwise the balance is difference with be not good.

also please note the orange and green to the pot need swapping along with the red and black to the motor,if you are using a kt18(i have the steering reversed on my tx)

thnx philip,i found that out the hard way :)

Awesome work Matt!!!!! THANK YOU AGAIN for all the pics! The info too of course!

What a car:D An AWD with 03 electronics - This is on my "Need To Get" list:D

So you're saying I can just reverse the settings on my radio and no need to swap the wires if I'm using a non-kt18 radio?

yup,if you have servo reverse on your tx wire it the same as the pics:)

Matt, if using a Tx with steering-reverse capability (Such as an EX1-UR or Helios plus the Mini-Z ASF module), do you still have to swap-around the orange and green wires to the POT? (I understand that you don't have to swap the positive+negative wires around on the servo motor if you have steering-reversed.)

Just want to make sure:) Thanks!

looking goood. was wondering did you change the power switch also as i cant see it in the pic with the cover in place

de-solder the original and solder the stock awd one on.

if you wire it the same as in the pics the steering will need reversing on your helios/ex1,you can just see the writing on the board by the servo wires, red to - black to +

Interesting idea, the only (perhaps) real benefit of which would be to allow the use of the gyro.

So...

Tell us about the gyro?

I think the 03's don't have the reverse delay the 02 2.4's had too.

Yeah, as Jayce said, the main reason I would be using the new 2.4 board is for the reverse. It's perfect... Here's a video I made of it:

it makes a big difference, the steering is so responsive and not one problem yet:D

i thought the stearing motor was smaller and u could not use the old motor

the breaking is awesome on my AWD with the 03 board and not to mention reverse, big improvement.

Done 2 conversions so far, both an improvement over the stock 2.4 board

Thanks for the pictures and instructions. I just converted my old 010 and it works great. I feel that I should offer a few more tips...

Power wires: Instead of directly soldering new power wires directly to the battery back, I desoldered the black power wire from the original 010 board and put it in place of the black power wire on the 03 board. This way I could use the original power conneciton point making it easier to remove the board if I need to later on.

Switch: I just soldered the original 010 switch onto the white wires from the 03 board. The length of these wires is marginal and it took a few tries to find a routing that would work. Run the wires straight across the top of the 03 board and down to the switch at the little notch in the board.

Servo: I just desoldered the small servo motor at the board and conected the original wires from the original servo motor as shown in the picture. I reversed the action in my radio.

Moto: I switched the motor leads because even when I reversed the throttle in my radio, I found I had to double pump the throttle to get the car moving. I think the board is confused about which way is the brake if the motor is reversed.

No chance to play with a gyro yet... but it works really well so far!

dab of solder on the motor tabs to prevent any shorts

if you are converting an AM car you will need to make room for the fets on the bottom
