Hello,

I just bought a 2nd hand non functioning Sanwa M11x which caused by a wrong battery polarity. I think it might be an easy fix but since i dont have much of electronic knowledge, i hope good ppl here can help...

Here's the pic of the burnt/cracked diode...

M11 x runs on 2 cell lipo or 6 cell NiMh...hope that someone can help me figure out whats the value of the diode so that i can replace it.

Merry xmas and happy new year!

hard to tell from the pics but if you google the board number it should tell you

as it is a diode then its main job is polarity control so this will have saved the rest of the board , and it may not need a direct type for type replacment

i'll try to google around and see whats comes up...

only this came out

engineering project stuff...might not be relevant to RC i guess :) ...
do u have any idea of what alternative diode i might use?

as i said chances are any diode will work as its just flow control

what i would look into is how much circuitry is between the blown diode and the battery input
if its direct then the diode will have "saved" the board , if there are IC's before it then these may have taken some voltage and blown

wohoooaa...anyway, is is safe if i bypass the diode for a while just to check if its will turn on or not?

you could but i wouldnt recomend it , just to be safe

rip into just about any elctrical item and you will find a diode you can steel :)
radios are a good supply ;-)

haha ok i'll scout around for any potential diode to steel :D...thanks Dale!

that is the sort of diode you will find , notice one side has a silver band that is the polarity match it up with the symbol on your board :)

power it up and see if it works (fingers crossed bud )

hehe hope it will turn on tmrw...i better get some sleep now...its 3am here in Malaysia :p...thanks again.

:( it doesn't turn on...even if i bypass the diode, still no power...:(:(

Did you check to see if there are any other electronics before the diode, or is the diode the first thing after the batteries conect? Also, how did you bypass it? If it's thru-hole construction, you could just make a short jumper wire.

Here are the two sites I mostly use for electronic parts:
http://www.digikey.com/
http://www.mouser.com/

its very hard to detect what other component spoils, so far only the diode confirmed dead...there's other component after the battery.

I bypass using wire jumper.

with an adapter board.....
Does anyone make this adapter board? And where does this adpater board connect to? Tx or Rx?

It plugs into the Tx and the module plugs into the adapter board. Check this out.

There is no module in the M11x so I don't think it is compatible. That's ok, I don't mind picking up the KO Perfex Transmitter for the mini-z.

Correct. It works for the M11 but not the X.
