Well that certainly looks wide.

I wonder how it's gonna look when done.

Thanks for the comments guys! Yea, the chassis is a little too wide IMO, would be better if it can get some OL axles. =p

Update: The F-150 is back from the chop shop. (All cutting are done by hand, no machine cutting.)

Started a new project for another member on here. Its another S2000 project from me. This one is very simple, just need a little body work and a new paintjob.

This is how the body looks when I first got it.

F-150 Update: Start to work on the front left fender, chopped up a lot of plastic and then fill it up with some putty. Also starting to add wheel well for the rear fenders.

S2000 Update: Have been spending a few hours into the front bumper, and this is how far I get now. Cut up the rear bumper for the exhaust and made the headlight looks more like the AP2 headlight.

Update: Just got the chassis back from the owner yesterday, so I started to work on it right after.

I installed some Bridgestone Desert Dueler tires on the chassis.
http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk124/Dr_Kustom/Mini-Z%20OverLand/IMGP0990.jpg
Then start to work on the rear end of the truck.

Thanks kryten, those Bridgestone Desert Duelers are from the Aoshima Pajero model kit.

Update: Got the front left fender re-build and also start applying putty on the rear right fender, as you can see...I'll have a lot of sanding ahead of me.

Thanks for all the comments guys. Btw, Ron can you PM me that link to the Mugen spoiler again?

Update: Its been a while since I update this thread. :o I got a bad news and a good news. Bad news is that, last time I used Dupli-Color clear as a clear coat, and it completely ruined the body, so I spend a lot of time sanding and primer the body. Good news is that its finally got back to shape.

Here's a iwaver Saleen S7 I cleaned up for a member on forum.Update: Got a work request on an iwaver Saleen S7 body. I received the body few days ago, just got a chance to work on it yesterday. All I have to do is to clean up the body, total spend about 2 hours in it. (without counting the time for putty and primer to dry)

This is how it looks when I first got it.

http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk124/Dr_Kustom/Mini-Z%20MA-010/IMGP1696.jpg

First, I have to say great work Dr. We have to appreciate the time you are putting in to these projects and keeping us updated.
Second, what primer do you use on these bodies? I am having an issue with the primer peeling up with masking tape. Do you prep the plastic with anything before priming it? I prepped the body I was working on with scotch brite pad then a wax and grease remover before I sprayed it with tamiya acrylic primer. I let the body sit 24hrs before trying to mask it with 3m blue automotive masking tape(the low adhesion tape). The primer peeled right off.
Thank you for any help and suggestions and please keep the kustoms coming!

Thanks tdmr02, I use 2 kinds of primers, depends on what color I'll be using later. I use Tamiya white surface primer for light color and Tamiya grey surface primer for dark color. Before I apply the primer, I usually sand down the body using 1500 grit sand paper, after the sanding is done, I'll wash the body with water and soap, and use a tooth brush to clean up the small area (vents, grill, etc) where dust can hide. Once the body is clean, dry it with a tower (make sure there's no water anywhere on the body), then you can apply a mist coat of primer, wait about 10-15 mins to apply the 2nd mist coat, wait 10-15 mins again, then you can spray on a cover coat. Wait at least 24 hours before you do any masking to the body, make sure you wash the body again before you mask. As for the masking tape, I use 3M Scotch (blue) painter's tape. Hope the info above can help you. :)

I got a chance to see his work in person, let me tell you, its good!!! And, its durable too.
Thanks EMU! The races from last night was fun, hope to see you again. :D

Also if there are any proportional differences between the R32 and R33, I hope you'll address them, because they WILL make or break this project. Keep up the good work!

How do these hold up in racing conditions?
I've used my Amuse S2000 GT1 when I first got into racing, by the end of the day, the putty does have a few hair line cracks, but they are still holding together. I still wouldn't recommend racing them though, because they are heavy.

Thanks herman! I think the wheel size are just about right, maybe it's because of the long wheelbase that make the rims seems a bit small.

Beefy tires wouldn't be too bad. I sent out your GT-R on Tuesday evening, you should get it within this week.

yeah probably so, thus my suggestion of matching them up with square inch up rims (they are 21mm dia vs kyosho's stock rim 20mm dia) :D

from the other iwaver pics i've seen, it looks a bit bigger than the other cars (it's 102mm chassis setting right?)...

seems like more of a 1/24ish scale compared to the mini-z's 1/27ish average scale...

can anybody post pics of it compared to a kyosho body (preferably kyosho's bmw version)? :D

Square rims would looks perfect on it! You're right, the wheelbase is 102mm, I don't have a pic of this iWaver E92 compare to the Mini-Z E46 body. I took a pic of it next to Sai's Odyssey. This M3 is as long as a mini van!

That AWD chassis that the M3 was sitting on is a roller, it have no electric in it. I didn't have the 102mm spur gear on it either. I believe 3Racing make 102mm spur gear for AWD, but I'm not sure.

EMU
2011.01.16, 12:24 PM
3Racing makes a 102mm spur which they include with their wheelbase extension kit, but it doesnt work well. I believe that it is molded, not machined. There is a little wobble on the driveshaft, combined with the length of the spur, it makes poor gear mesh on the rear diff. If there were a central bearing, like the Kyosho DWS has, it could work... but I dont think that it will work on the DWS bearing setup...

is it the normal white one, polyester or epoxy?
i'm trying to fix some cracks at the front of black slr for awd and maybe try to widen it a bit since it will be heavy for the race anyway.
