Hi, after the MR02, after the Mini z catamaran boat, pepeuch continu on MR03 !!!!!

Photos represent the minimum for now, but I will disclose everything to the right time. there is so little space that it becomes a personal challenge, the 02 she had much more space.

hoping that you like it. ;) :D

le 15/03/2011: modification of direction's servo

since the beginning of this project and even from version MR02 brushless, large problem in this direction was because the electronics of the servo controller was too close to the servo, and it was because of lack of space. I look very long to find an electronics very small, and I put Apas bit of time finding the ideal location in the new chassis 03. Now it's done:

Hello, already a year since I could not work on my MiniZ brushless!
involved my soldering iron that passed away, and not wanting to reinvest in a bad mark I saved to pay me a welding station.

and now I test it on the MR03, it took me change the electronic servo because it was not fit and I have remodifier the front to install an electronic more consistent. it was not easy to integrate all this but it is done and the direction is very reactive.

tests will be done this weekend and a small video on the training track. I still have the parameters of the controller to study and later pressed the engine replaced by a motor "NEU proton" more torque because it has four instead of two poles on the Feigao.

you will notice that a resistance is added to the potentiometer of management, it is normal, futaba had put so I was rewiring the same, a micro condensatuer is also under the steering motor is just a surge suppressor.
feast your eyes, and do the same.

PS: pecifications the chassis and the list of used electronics is updated, now do just as I was not the only one;-)

Hi, sorry but for now I only shows the minimum, because I am not yet sure how to move the son and the location of the receiver is not yet final. and then there is very little space (less than the 02). but party like it's gone I will finish this project quickly and there you will have all the details.

Do you notice a differance with so much more motor on the left side of the car?

Awesome car:) I like it a lot.

What's the Race-Ready weight for this badboy? - including batteries, body, transponder, etc?

I have wanted to build a "hobby-spec" MR02 for a very long time but since the MR03 arrived I have been extremely happy with the new 03's electronics -> The RA-22 PCB unit is extraordinary I think. So now my KO SS-Rx is headed towards 1/10th glory (I hope:)). I just need lots o' time to hit the books and do some heavy research into the 1/10 Electronic Racing scene:cool:

But it is still in the back of my mind to build an MR02/MR03 using a KR408S Rx. I have a TGR Spinner I bought specific for the job (No brushless for me).

Also what brand & part# micro steering servo did you use to power the MR03's steering on your Brushless MR03 Pepeuch? I'd appreciate your help in choosing a servo. Thanks for the info, and for the great project:D

Do you notice a differance with so much more motor on the left side of the car?

Hello, no I did not feel any difference with the extra weight on the left side of this motor also is lighter 5grs that brushed motor, and I even think that the weight is better distributed because it offsets the weight differential that is found to be the opposite side.

Felix2010: the weight of the MR-03 is 168.4 grs RTR

electronics used for the Rx is a spektrum who happens to be perfect and without its top radio electronics for servo I used a pico servo (5grs), the servo electronic is very small and I replace the potentiometer of the servo by that of MR-03, and the motor.

Otherwise the frame will soon compete in an endurance of 8 hours, shook his first appearance, the inconveniences of this race is to be used tire rubbers then another less torquey engine shook used (short cage motor in 8000Kv ).

For this reason the engine is prepared with ceramic bearings and reliability of the cage (which tends to déflasquer). I will explain in pictures how préprer these small brushless motor.

sorry for my english (google trad)

Hello everyone, but lament the videos wait a bit, because that test this weekend on the track CMZ31, I would find that Lots better than before. However, as we say, sleep on it and she told me good advice! I decide to go on a direction simply remove the analog and digital, and I believe I have found the solution and managed to change the axis of a potentiometer futaba S3154 for integrating in the direction. the pictures are coming tonight. These changes give rise to the MR03v3 because it shook a major evolution. but do not worry the video comming shortly.

Tanks you for comments, it's very dificult because it's very small.

great projects you've done! where can get esc & motor from?

hello, first as my supplier is in France I think you better find to United States. Besides, I switch brands because Feigao motor is exceeded and Neu is now an engine that has an excellent know-how, so I advise preferes this brand, it is also possible to order directly from them but I think the delays are very long, about 6 to 8 weeks of the time but there is better quality. when the controller I think Feigao do that manufactures custom now but it remains to be confirmed, but a small bulk order of several people interrested is certainly possible.

Motor:
http://www.neumotors.com/Site/Proton_series.html

Controler: I search the feigao but the product is stop, so hobbywing make this controler ;-):

Choose 18A, 25A is big.

25/02/2012: manufacturing is setting up my new motor mount, with all this stuff and more the car weighs 177.1 grams (lapZ chip included), I still work on it to gain a few grams:
- Remove the receiver terminals and solder the controller is seeing a 2 gr less
- Solder the chip on the ESC
- Rewire the motor and shorten the cable (see 2 and 3 grams less so of copper it weighs 0.5 mm)
- My new motor is right now on the road to France so with any luck the next two weeks will be installed into the chassis, there are very strong chance that it weighs heavier than the Feigao.

How did you make that motor mount?

pepeuch
2012.03.13, 04:21 PM
Hello everyone, sorry for this long time of absence but things are still well advanced:

- New engine test NEU
- Modification of higher aluminum hood reflex racing
- Change of ESC Feigao by hobbywing (the Feigao has overheat during a welding)
- Design of a new dual hydraulic shock absorber (not finished) you can see it in the last 2 photos.

First test of my new engine:
- Very very torquey
- Less latency
- Less heat

I test the handling with and without the exhaust fan, and I do not hide that it is better to stabilize with the train ar, be careful I do not say that it plays on Aerodinamical (which must be negligible to 40km / h)

Wildthing: to drill, hacksaw, sandpaper P1500 and P2000 for the surfacing and after the elbow grease to polish it :p

Plans and dimention of my pieces for engine will soon publish the first post in the topic, I want this to be done so that everyone pofite.

again thank you all for your comments, I see that my topic is looked across the Atlantic and it makes me happy, soon I'm 3 years on the MR03 brushless and I can tell you that I'm finally on the end of the project really has not been easy.

Seems quite small for this size and could possibly overheat.

Hi pepeuch,

I went to the hobbywing web site

and they have this brushless combo for 1/18 scale. I know you use their ESC but not the motor. What is the reason?
I was thinking doing a brushless MR03 too and with this brushless combo, ESC and brushless motor. What do you think? Is it a good idea ?

hello, I do not use the motor Hobbywing (Feigao) because fiabilitée not adapt, it opens in several parts because of vibration and shocks, so I chose the NEU because they have a much more reliable. more as they are 4 poles they are less problem to demarage and are much more flexible. what pictures are meant to be shown? what does a video on the brushless chassis have to do with new autoscales?

Hi guys new to this world I was trying to decide on getting a MR-02 or MR-03 want to race but not on the upper level I've raced HO's, R/C 10's 1/10 pan's R/C gas boat's. SO I thought this would be nice for a old timer to get back in to some form of eazy raceing cost is a issue. from a outside looking in the cost of the car for a new guy getting in is a little high a lot high even for a MR 03 after all the cost to get it track ready and I know up grades will come with the new BL one so all and all the cost could be about 500.00 to get it race track ready way to much for a start up cost for nebews. So I'll go with a MR-02 and mod it up and have fun at the back of the pack lol. My first post on this sight speed and fun at a low cost I'm just saying

If you already have a radio compatible with 2.4 miniz it should not cost $500.00 to start.

Car with body (MR03)
189
Bearings
12
Ball Diff
30
Damper system
25
Motor Mount
30
Modified motor
20 to 25

In short $286 if you use the stock motor
$306 to $311 if you buy mod motor

It may be + or - depending on what you buy. Just remember you don't need all the options to make the cars competitive. Simplicity is always best:D

He talks about the MR-03VE and not MR-03.
And nobody knows what price it's going for but they asume.
So...

It's all an fictional discussion.

Keep going:

oil for the damper disc
t-plates
wheels and tires
springs
4th steering gear (it will break eventually, just change it out now before losing it in a race)
rechargeable batteries
battery charger

if your really competitive... a tire truer. The tracks in my area spoil us with a hobby shop supplied truer.

but it all depends on where you are, how competitive you want to be, and what classes are available in your area. In my area nobody wants to run box stock.

My 70t class car has about $400.00 in it, including the car. Not including the needed items for it to run... batteries, charger, tx.

Yeah its true you need T-plate and oil. T-plates about $6 to $7, oil not much more.

Now with any hobby you can got all out and spend a bunch. I am just saying someone starting out does not need to spend $400 to $500 just on the car to start racing. I don't own a tire truer I just use a dremel tool and some sand paper and true I tires that way if your running on RCP now I run on carpet and have no need for tire truer

I still have my stock 4th steering gear, never broke one. I think that is usually the result of not setting the steering travel to 65 and steering balance to 70 like its recommended from KoPropo

I was mainly focusing on just the car, but yes you need Batteries, Charger and Radio. The problem is you could start buying battery matching hardware,....etc and run your cost up very high. Do all need to do that? not really I knew this guy that was beating top drivers with a KT-18 while others had the latest top of the line radios and they were excellent drivers. In short get started and do a few things at a time and be patient.

Steering this one back ON topic, you have to ignore the costs when you're trying to do something as thoroughly and completely as Pepe has done with his BL MR03. It's essentially R&D at this level of tinkering, and if anyone ever told you R&D is cheap, they'd be lying. If you just want to race there is no need for any mods, you can go take a box stock MR03, give it some tires, grease up the top shock with heavy industrial grease, and you'll have all the damping and grip you need to dice it up in 70t classes. When you want to go nuts (Pepe's car, ph2t's BL MR02, any custom chassis prototype) you ignore the screams of your wallet and just do it. ;)

This thread is a little confusing. It started out as someone showing their sweet homemade brushless system for their mini z, then went into talking about the cost of starting out in mini z.

I think its confusing to put that pic up ed, the pic makes sense filtering water to drink but sneers more then the pitcher can hold. I haven't read any other part to of the thread to no if its confusing

Really haven't read it much myself either... but the picture felt semi-appropriate to post.

I agree that Darth is doing the right thing by filtering the water, but wouldn't you think he would've had a Storm Trooper do the task?

Or maybe this is after they blew up the Death Star and he was tumbling out of control... and he landed on some planet to get a drink of water?

But then again... if he's so "in with the force", couldn't he just use it to filter the water as he dipped his hand into it or even utilize the miticlorians in his bloodstream to filter the water once it gets into his system?

I hope that isn't salt-water... his legs are robotic, and I'm sure that'd be hell on them.

(bored here... just havin fun)

better yet use the force to filter the water while standing on the beach... then vader doesnt have to get wet.
