Davey G

Hi MIke, would be great if you and your crew come and experience this event, not sure exactly when NITRO SEASON ends, but this race is going to be in JULY

Mike Keely

We have had some issues with the county so we are hoping to get started around the end of May. If they had it at the beginning of May that would be great. I know Matt will come and if in any way I can make it I will be there.

With the racer list growing...this is going to be one of the Best Regional races of 2010. With the Finals being in Myrtle Beach in Oct. it will be a good event to size up the competition. Make an A main at a regional and you qualify for the World Cup finals in Oct.....

6 months ago when I got into this hobby with a ready set package, AM glitch was only noticeable on the furthest end of the straight right hand corner of the track & draw back is that it is the fastest corner. If you have a upgrade better AM Radio then OEM, then maybe much better condition. Since I am local, I had to convert everything to 2.4Ghz because it was getting to be annoying.

TKS! I see FRONT WING VERSION 2 (Assembled) is what I want but it is back ordered. :(
Since picture shown as Renault Yellow, Can it be order to color desire like Silver to match my Vodafone Mclaren or I have to paint it myself and assume thee is no matching decals available in the market? Also Installation is retaining stock nose cone and clip off orignal front wing & then install V2?

Marcus might be able to answer your questions better than I can but they don't come painted. He may be able to give you some info on the decals too, from the place he got all of his from. I know they had alot of different decal sheets for f1's so I would imagine they would have the matching set for your car.

You remove the front wing and plastic bumper to install everything and you leave the nose cone bolted to the chassis. The bumper istalls with only one screw but is extremly strong.

If you have any friends w a private jet you can fly into Teterboro Airport. Thats about 2 miles from the track. Sony Aviation is based there and that is where all the entertainment people fly into.

Newark is the next closest about 25 miles away.

Kennedy or Laguardia airports are about 35 miles away but taxis will charge for tolls ($19.00) plus cab fare.

Thats about a 2 minute Jerzey ride......averything is faster in Jerzey...
I had a customer come up from South Carolina and I took them into NYC
and one guy commented.....even old people walk fast in NYC.....;)

As far as traction.....Maj being the master of hosts did something awesome....
He took the layout up and relayed it moving the tiles around. So now the track is new for everybody and no group of racers will have an advantage.....

Majs has plenty of space and during weekly club racing usually only about 25 pit spaces are needed. For the BIG events he rents tables and chairs filling in the free space. I know he has enough room for 75+ drivers....
and he has a huge driveway for racers who like to sit under eazy ups....:D

Friday:
Doors open at 10am. Practice will be 10am - 7pm.
-The "PN racing team" guys will be holding a casual Q&A session from 7pm-8pm (racetrack will be closed). This is where Phil NG and team will be showing off some new upcoming products either in prototype form or CAD files through his I-phone. Team drivers also have some new parts on there cars to show off and in there pitbox. You can ask questions anything mini z related.

Saturday:
-Doors open at 8am. Practice will be 8am - 10am. Two rounds of Qualifying will start shortly thereafter (this could change)

Sunday:
-Doors open at 8am. Practice will be 8am - 10am. One round of Qualifying will start shortly thereafter. Mains will start once sorting is done and posted.

that is early for a friday night practice session. we probably wont get to the track til around 2:30, doesnt leave much time to set cars up especially with the amount of drivers. is there a reason the cutoff is so early?

EMU
2010.07.25, 11:55 PM
I had thought that it was going to be a long practice night before the race. That means I cant get any friday practice. I get home from work around 5:30, which means by the time I would get to the track and unpack practice would be over.

I might be able to get a couple practice runs in on Saturday morning, but wont be able to get any work done... People have been running this layout for months. Racers coming for the event that dont run on the layout are at a severe disadvantage with such limited practice the day before the race. Mixing up the tiles for the event wont do nearly enough to remove the advantage of running on the layout.

Is there another time to do show and tell, and allow an open practice that will help level the playing field and make it a fair race for all in attendance? As much as I do want to see the new stuff, open track time is most important.

second that, i have not raced since the carolina cup and i have not been on this layout yet. i will get more practice than most it looks like. but for the amount of money i am spending on this trip i would like to at least wear out a set of tires!! squeezing 50 racers in 2 hours of practice on saturday morning is insane. i have three cars to get setup.

I can understand you are coming from out of town and want maximum practice and are trying to be conservative in your spending. I have been racing RC for several years and any of the really competitive travelling racers I have seen come a few days early to practice.
Maj is open 7 days a week. To arrive midday on the practice day is not ideal.
If thunderstorms come in on Friday(flight delay) you may miss practice all together. Matt was up racing and he got his F1 dialed really quick so Im sure you know what to do for F1. As far as your other cars all the racers at Majs will answer what is working for them for your other cars....

Eugene you live local....Maj is open 7 days a week...the layout has been down for a while. You only have yourself to blame for practice time.
Im lucky if I make the c main and I took vacation days this week to practice.

Maybe Maj will extend practice but in his defense. The Majs team has a big weekend planned and he doesnt have 20 employees to run the show. It is Maj, Oscar, Dave and Mikey. Majs Hobby is a full service hobbyshop/racetrack.
Try and free up some time this week I will be there practicing too....

to come a day early is another night in a hotel and that is an additional 100.00 and another unpaid day off of work. besides that it is too late to change flights even if i wanted to. if i had known there was going to be limited practice at an earlier date Jacob and i could have worked something out but we both assumed we would be able to practice til late friday and that would be enough (every other event i have been to had been this way). im not so much worried about car set up as i am track time. no matter what parts work i still need to drive on the track. im not trying to be argumentative but anyone who arrives on friday or have to work on friday is going to be at a severe disadvantage to the locals. it would be different if this was a smaller event but this is turning out to be the biggest qualifier of the year but with the least amount of normal track time and that makes no sense to me. personally i would much rather be on the track than to see what new parts are coming out in the future, especially since all of it will be on the forum by monday. i dont expect anything to be changed i am just giving my opinion, as it looks right now i will have more practice than most. i still dont understand why the track is closing early on friday if the presentation is from 7-8 than open the track back up til 10. we will personally volunteer to help out if that is the problem(Jacob,Mike and I).

Just want to inform everyone about the time guidelines that were set from the PN race last year. From what I can see, most of the people who are having issues with the practice time are those who were not able to participate in last year’s event. Bearing in mind how much time racers needed last year for practice, I told our Track Coordinator to prepare his guideline base from that event. If I may recall, I believe most of the out-of-town racers arrived around mid afternoon on Friday and was all done with practice by 6 to 7 PM.

Nevertheless, I will go over this matter with the TC and see if there is a need to extend the practice time to 9PM while the PN Q&A is going on.

Please understand that large scale events, such as this, can only run smoothly and on-time when proper structure is in place.

Thanks

Coming a few days early for the "really competitive" racers is "really unrealistic."

If you come to win and need practice it isnt unrealistic.
What is unrealistic is to be a just in time racer. Things happen that can alter your weekend of racing. In my real job I service and repair pharmacuetical machinery that when is down the customer loses up to $500,000 an hour.
When I make my plans I make sure Im always early for those unforseen things that happen.

George, if MHS was accessable by public transportation, I wouldnt have a problem getting there for practice. In order to get there, I need a ride to and from the track. Coordinating that is not easy. I primarily race at Action because I know I can get a ride to and from the track without a problem, and if I cant, I can always take the train/ferry. Right now I am working two jobs, mon-thurs I work from 7:30am-10:30pm. Making any practice during the week is impossible.

Conditions change on the track, and practice the day before the race is most valuable, even a week before the race conditions will change a little. Track time is most important, as Marcus said. Its not necessarily the setup time, but time on the track that is important.

Also, I think it would have been nice to inform us more than a week before the event what the practice schedule would be. Normally there is friday night racing, that ends around midnight, so I anticipated that the same schedule would be used.

Regardless, we just have to work around these difficulties, and not try to blame people. I was just surprised by the early termination of practice.

I am not upset, but more discouraged. Especially since I have to rebuild my F1 for the event after a bad practice incident on Saturday night. I still dont know if I can get the parts that I need before the race.

Philip, I appreciate the effort that you put into the PNWC series. I dont want it to sound like I am attacking PN or MHS in my posts. I reacted quickly when I wrote my first post, and may have written things a little more harsh than I should have.

See you guys soon :)

It is what it is, i'm not sure why there is always drama around rc races...show up when you can and have fun, i havn't been to maj's for almost a year and will not be able to go until sat mourning...and i can't wait to get on the track. Realistically there are some who already have 5 bazillion laps on the layout or at that track, 2 hours of practice friday will not change that for out of towners so who cares, we all will do whatever we can to get up to speed the day of. Crotty you got them kick ass battery labels again?

Hey mike,

haha i loved my nude cells. But i don't think i can make some out of triple A's. I wish i could though. Maybe i will bring my 2/3 nude cells.

Can't wait to race with you again.

How about shuffling all if not most of the RCP tiles prior to the race? Is qualifying order random?

Practice is always an iffy thing when it comes to race weekends...part of it is working around it. I don't think anyone's truly upset. Hope that nobody got any feelings hurt.

Bill, don't make any predictions...practice at school has been at a minimum since Barca. :) (HOOOOOOLLLLLLAAAAAA)

I have a prediction for the race.....
Some racers with the least amount of practice on Majs track will do Very Well...;)
I think a lot of our drama revolves around anticipation and the fact we want to do well. We are able to turn a hobby into a dream and the dream
becomes a reality for 3 short days.....The atmosphere at the track is pure Race with a side of Fun....
Again I live local I took off so if I can give any of the out of towners a hand let me know.....

...... I've decided not to race so that I can give this program 100% attention!!...... This weekend will be like no other...... EVER!!...... You will all witness history and drama........ and we still have the Mains on Sunday to worry about.

........ The grand stage is set....... We are going to try to accomidate everyone so that the only thing you need to worry about is bringing your A game, nothing else...... So get your rest this week and prepare to go to war.........

......... So......... "Let's get ready to R-U-M-B-L-E!!!!!!!!":eek::eek:..........:D

I second that. Alex is fast as h*ll on the track so it will be a shame not to see him run, but the guy is an amazing announcer. Adds to the excitement for sure.

THe shops floor is freshly painted, the entire building is spotless, pitroad has been added for when you are called "done".

For the out of towners: Below is what people are using as far as tires (most popular first)

Stock:
- REAR PN6, PN8, Kyosho 20, Atomic 8
- FRONT PN8, Kyosho 30, PN15

Mod:
- REAR PN6, PN8, Kyosho 20
- FRONT PN8, PN15, Kyosho 30

The PN6 and 8 rears are radials and most guys say they are the best. I use kyosho 20 slicks but i think the PN6 radials are the way to go on the rear.

Fronts are slicks. some guys put a groove or two in them with a truer.

what kind of tire wear do you get on the track? here in texas you can wear out a pair of 20 radials in one or two battery packs! every where else i have been i can run a seet of tires the entire weekend. if the track does not eat tires than i need to scrub them in before i get there.

SaiTam
2010.07.28, 10:56 PM
I think the 20 Radials get worn out on most RCP tracks anyway. I get better performance when they are somewhat worn. However, for this race I'm using Atomic's prototype rear tires; which work surprisingly well at Maj's than the 20 Radials. Correct me if I'm wrong but most people prefer other tires than 20 Radials at the track.

One more day of work and then its a long overdue vacation day for me to be spent testing and tuning before saturday.

On a side note and speaking of Jersey Fist Pumps I want to throw one up for Davey G. He has done a ton of work behind the scenes and we want him to know that it does not go unnoticed. From the flyer to the updates on the site to being there to help everyone tune our cars each and every friday im throwing my fist in the air for the guy.

Also when you guys see some of the bodies he has painted up for people trust me you will want him to do multiple for you.

Thats enough A** kissing for one morning. Im just trying to get him to hook a brother up with that unreleased MR-03 A-Arm that he is testing for PN. Buttery smooth.

Pn 6's in mod is 1 run (8 minute qual) in stock you can get 2 decent runs in but.........I know most of the locals are planning on running new skins every run.

Hi Philip

Just wondering if this AWD modification would be considered legal in the PN GT Mod class? I am in favor for it because it uses all Kyosho chassis parts for modification and even after the modification you can use PN performance parts.:D

Thanks
