JuniorWKR
2010.03.10, 11:38 AM
your gonna need a good 98mm pod... either the pn or atomic i would suggest... a good dps set up... i would suggest the atomic metal dps plate and the pn delrin dps discs.. some dps springs, reflex front end set up... some toe bars and knucklel... i would suggest the murcialgo body...

Slubben

The Lambo Murceliago body seems to be the ticket for mod class so that and a 98mm Low CG pod and you should be on your way. The speedy 07 is a good starting point. I wouldn't worry about a faster motor just yet.

and for mod your gonna need a really really good diff, so invest the money into that... or getting the power to the ground will be a nightmare.. especially going through the tight sections... i would suggest having Maj building you a qtec setup with a pn limited slip diff.. thats what i run and i really like it..

ROBG
2010.03.10, 11:58 AM
awesome feed back from the both of you, Jr., how much for the custom diff?

JuniorWKR
2010.03.10, 12:16 PM
probally around 80 to 100... for the pn lightweight shaft, the Ultra smooth diff rings, the ceramic balls, the pn limited slip diff and the qtec parts...

ROBG
2010.03.10, 12:24 PM

I've read both pages of this thread and these caught my attention:

1. Lambo Murc body 98mm
2. modified 2wd
3. PN8 fronts

So, is this the hot body to use for modified 2WD in East Coast?

When I was learning how to drive, I always ask for steering. This is the time when I used this pn8's. Which is about 1min on the track. The softest I've gone was PN10 and that was a year and a half ago. I'm stuck in PN20 and PN25 and have the suspension do all the work. My question is, how much traction do you guys have? Does your car traction roll with PN8? What does the fast drivers used for their mod cars, 94,98mm?

Hey TJAY, for mod here 98mm seems to work really well here.always have.Stable & plenty of steering & rear bite.Best of both worlds.PN8's fronts work good on the 98mm.As for body the Murcielago from all the majority run that body including myself. But there are a couple that run Ferrari F430 which is another great body that works really well here also.In stock class its used again majority of the people that race here at Maj's Hobby Shop.Hope this helps.Any more questions...ask.

Awesome! It's cool how different areas have different race bodies/set-up. I can't wait to see what you guys run up there and how the traction is... Maybe I'm missing out but I will definitely consider trying that PN8's after RCX race.

Thanks!

the popular cars for here are definitly the ferrari 430 for stock and the murc for mod... there are some others being used here and there too... the tire setup is the same for both.... for the guys running pn tires its pn 8 slick up front and pn 6 treaded rears... the rears vary from the standard treaded to the new Xpattern... i personally like the xpattern...

as far as the guys running kyosho tires its the 30 treaded fronts and the 20 treaded rears... some guys are also running the kyosho 20 slicks too...

no issues with traction rolling.... the track probally has the highest amount of traction then any other track around... but because the entire track was purchased new and the floor is so perfect you will not get any bump steer or quirky transitions... this enables us to run our setups slightly stiffer then most and use the sticky tires to get all of the power and steering to the ground...

in my pan car im running a pn 37t balanced armature in a pn bb can with a power cap and trp 900's and i runn my diff with no slip and i can t even break the tires lose... its pretty sick...

i got the spring holder and new arms for the 03 on my mod car and the springs look like they can pop off very easily, i have the same on my stock car and it fine. why is there more space on the mod 03? i'm using the same arms and spring holder on each car.

JuniorWKR

you may have less shims on the knuckles or you are using the lowdown springs on ur mod..

I know. It's amazing what the painter could do.

What rear offset are you using there?

JuniorWKR
2010.05.14, 12:38 PM
2 rear 1 front... the 2 rear feel much more balanced then the 3 rears

on the lambo murc, did you guys have to dremel out the front end so the wheels don't hit? i have one but never really gave it much time. maybe i should. we just started racing on the 2010 pn regional layout down here in myrtle beach. do you guys post your lap times anywhere? just wondering what you guys are running in mod and stock. thanks eric

EMU
2010.05.22, 11:04 AM
Eric, they post results after ever race, here are the last race results: http://mini-zracer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=384478&postcount=6134 They have been running the PN layout for a little while... so you can look back a few weeks and see the development of the classes.

Most of the stock class cars are F430GT's. Mod, you see a few Murc's, since they handle the extra power pretty well, and have aggressive steering with good stability.
