first up is my return the RM racing with one of my tried and true choices, the Ferrari 360 GTC.

this paint scheme is modeled after a real scheme however the true inspiration is a fellow club member, soyverde, whom has a custom body that looks like it was painted with a highlighter. it's very easy to see on the track and stands out easily. i choose a scheme that incorporated this color.

Great 360GTC arch2b. I love the 360, awesome car in real-life and in Mini-Z. I especially like your choice in wheels for the 360GTC. The Atomic 21.5mm wheels are really cool and look great but getting them to work properly (ie no body rub!) isn't exactly easy, at least not for me. You made the car's stance look great and still have it performance/track ready. The paint is very easy to see I agree, which is very important to me as well. And the lightning bolt is cool, I like the flames that people do on their custom paint jobs but the lightning bolt is different and looks excellent.

Nice F1 too!:D

thanks.

i needed something that was both easy to follow and easy to paint. with only 3 colors on a white base, this was easiest team scheme i've done so far and should hold up well as i've avoided paint in high impact areas like the bumper faces. the nose splitter gets beat to hell but a black sharpie fixes that easily.

mantis, i'm saving up for the F1 SP2 so i don't have extra to spend on F1 parts right now. by the time i'm good to go you'll have them flushed out and i'm sure easier to aquire.

here is the actual car this was modeled on; peterson racing white lighting ferrari 360 gtc

fyi, if your ever looking for racing livery's, here (http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php/27911/31A07.jpg&imgrefurl=http://gtr2field.webs.com/alms.htm&usg=__TexZU_t-sB52-n06ujnAxxBYLzY=&h=628&w=900&sz=85&hl=en&start=12&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=ZSESCJI9OWLddM:&tbnh=102&tbnw=146&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dwhite%2Blighting%2B360%2Bgtc%26um%3D1 %26hl%3Den%26tbs%3Disch:1) is a nice single source point for a large collection.

it's actually tricky to take pictures of these due to the gloss and bright colors. i always get a halo almost around the car. i need to tweak camera settings to really bring out the gloss and color clearly.

+1 for team arch...
got a question... looks like your f-1 is 2.4ghz... is it necessary to put a hole in the body and have it stick out or can you just keep it under the body without any glitching?

thanks...

arch2b

f1 can be so finickey that i put the hole there just in case. it doesn't need it but i do it anyway. i'd rather eliminate that as an interference issue from the start.

Thanks for the post on the livery's. I like that Ferrari F430 GTC #61. That green paint they used w/ the blue looks sweet. I'm thinkin' I might have to track down a white Ferrari F430 body and do it up like that! :)

just wrapped up 2 new additions to my team

1. trp mosler
2. nissan skyline gt-r gt500

it may seem a bit plain but it's based on a real racing car. it's proven to be easy for me to follow on the track as well.

Spiffy. I painted my mosler today and my impatience got the best of me. Needless to say I'll be touching it up tomorrow. I managed to get a coat of silver on my evo x body though.

Good job!

the paints used were the following;
tamiya fluorescent yellow
krylon fusion safety red
tamiya flat black
future floor polish acrylic clear coat
pactra trim tape

I've read about this floor polish clear coat a few times and I don't recall any mention of how it's applied. What method do you use to apply this to the bodies after they are painted?

I'm really liking your team paint job, very eye-catching.

arch2b
2011.02.11, 06:47 AM
personally, i use a flat broad brush. i'm sure there are better ways but my budget doesn't go past brushes.

xmodcanuck
2011.02.11, 07:58 PM
So do you brush it on after everything is painted and put together? Over the windows and light lenses and emblems and all the little bits that may need to be glued in.

arch2b
2011.02.11, 08:00 PM
always last step.

most of the time i just coat everything but sometimes i try to avoid going over the windows.

arch2b
2011.11.25, 11:47 AM
just put on the clear coat to a new body this morning. i'd show some pictures but the gallery is not working at the moment:(

jumping ship from the usual highlighter yellow and red lighting bolt to my MZR theme.

had to resize all my images to below 2000x1500 to get them into the gallery. thankfully photoshop has a script to process folders making this easy to do.

so, here is my latest work.

again, this was done with cheap spray paints, tamiya acrylics and tamiya clears with future floor polish clear coat. most of the decals come from my collection of gi joe reproduction sticker sets. the rest are shop and site stickers.

the colors were stenciled the same way with tamiya tape with lines sketched on and traced with an xacto knife. i laid down the black first and then red.

I like the new scheme man, the highlighter from previous cars didn't blend that well with the general white base. As far as image sizes, why do you shoot them at such a high rez?

arch2b
2011.12.01, 04:57 PM
point and shoot pictures with my iphone 4s, nothing fancy or high res about it really. the gallery is just having fits it seems as i've had nothing but trouble with it over the couple weeks.
