Reminds me of the MR-02 Special Edition chassis which I bought as a collector's item. But this one comes with a board!

Couple of questions/observations.

Is that a black main chassis with gold terminals? Nice touch. The SP chassis is grey.

Bearings and lock nuts are nice, as well as ball diff. But MR-02 came with red ball diff.

What are those red spacers on the king pins just above the upper arms???

To answer your question, my buying the MR-02 special edition was a mistake and I would guess this would be too unless you like running RM with std pitch gears.

Considering it retailing 400+ , indeed so.

I don't see how it could retail for that
high since you can build one yourself
using all K parts for about half that...
unless they make extremely limited
copies and one off bodies...

I wouldn't be surprised if it is actually
for sale at half that price as they have
done that before with the previous SPs,
Euros, URs, etc.

I think it is shown with the yellow and
red alloy spacers used...

If you paid anything over 110 for that
SP 02 yeah it's a bad choice. Also,
collecting is a crapshoot sometimes
(probably moreso with a niche market
like the minizs)... Give it some time.
Who knows... down the road it might
be worth something to someone. :)

anyone catch the rc.p.sanda (http://rajitensanda.blog73.fc2.com/) blog update regarding a u.s. spec kit?

This specification "North America", which is confusing black and white images, the MM is wide with mount options.

Sick part is that retail selling price in Japan is around 17K yen which if USD ever gets out of junk value to at least one to one, it will be $170.00 vs. such crazy Kyosho America retailing at $280.00. Also now a JDM limited edition re-release Gloss Coat edition of Advan Supra along with this JSCC MR-03 chassis for 19K yen which around $200 USD!

Has anyone priced this chassis out? I saw they are selling at a few places for $289. Is this worth it?

I think the chassis could be for a spec Kyosho race...

I dont think its worth the price, I still feel that the MR03 is overpriced as it is. But if you look at the retail price of the MR03 chassis set, at $180, and add bearings, springs, DDS, ball diff and oil shock... It looks close to the same price if not more. I dont use these Kyosho parts, so I dont see any reason to buy this unless I were to use it for a race that only permits Kyosho parts.

+1

Definitely not at that price. Get a cheap chassis
set and build up one to your specs...

Might be a good thing in Japan, where it's priced
more within reason (JSCC Advan Supra is around
215) and where I believe they might be restricted
to K parts, but the markup here is just too much.

If you are using the stock front the K long SS kingpins
aren't bad and the K oil shock is decent. The K dds
is garbage.

If you are intent on getting it though, it might be a
good idea to check some overseas shops as mach
noted you can get it at alot cheaper.

Seems more of an item to collect...

Well I just got one for 240 shipped so I think its a pretty good deal considering I would have purchased at least the bearings, Ball Diff and rear shock anyways. All K parts at least ensure a solid fit so I am okay with that but I will post back later once I get it.

Make sure to rebuild the diff before you use it. Using a tiny bit of glue on the diff rings to hold them in place, otherwise they will spin and cause the car to misbehave.

Wow really? I only use Kyosho diffs in my 01 and 02 cars and never had a problem with them. Something up with the new MR03 diffs?

Same diff, but I have always had problems with them. Especially the F1 ones. I also primarily run modified motors :) You can see a tutorial on the ReflexRacing.net site with how to rebuild a ball diff, and where to add the glue. Just a tiny bit to keep it from slipping is needed. When the rings start to slip, it feels like the car is a little tweaked, then it continues from there to very tweaked...

Kyosho does not use D cut rings like ATM and PN do. They have some of the hardest rings, and are actually my favorite, but they need to be glued in place. After that, theyre great :)

Has anyone priced this chassis out? I saw they are selling at a few places for $289. Is this worth it?

We have, and it turns out to be a pretty good deal! Here are the upgraded parts the JSCC chassis (http://shop.tinyrc.com/product.php?productid=20718) comes with:

●Ball Bearing Set No.MZW1
●Color Nylon Nuts (blue) No.MZW13BL
●Ball Differential Set No.MZW206
●Rear Oil Shock Set No.MZW207
●Friction Shock Set (RM) No.MZW216
●Front Spring Set (orange installed, 4 types included) No.MZW401
●Carbon Rear Suspension Plate Set (soft installed, medium & hard included) (for RM/HM) No.MZW404
●SP Long King Pin Ball Set No.MZW412
●Setting Tie Rod Set No.MZW402

The retail price of these items is $192.91. Purchasing those parts from another online retailer the parts would add up to $189.71, and even from shop.tinyrc.com (http://shop.tinyrc.com/home.php) they'd cost $180.91. Then of course you have to add in the chassis which brings the retail cost to piece this chassis together to $435.91, and from shop.tinyrc.com (http://shop.tinyrc.com/home.php), $360.90. This doesn't even include the upgraded gold terminals as found in the Kyosho Mini-Z SP Main Chassis Set for MR-03 (http://shop.tinyrc.com/product.php?productid=20319). :)

Now, of course no one putting together a like chassis would go for the expensive Kyosho Ball Bearing Set, but even with the PN Bearings (http://shop.tinyrc.com/product.php?productid=17562) substituted in, you would expect to spend $335.86 to put the chassis together, even with shop.tinyrc.com (http://shop.tinyrc.com/home.php) low prices. :)

And, just to note, this chassis comes set up as narrow and RM, but comes with the MM Motor Mount and wide tread parts, so you can run any body, not just the skinny ones!! :p

We've sold a number of these at the suggested retail price of $289.99, but may have the opportunity to put together a special promotional price...thoughts? :)

IMHO, worth it or not really depends on individual, some find it worth while, some find it not so. If you ask me, the feel good factor of getting a limited edition which I like, brings a smile to my face whenever I see or play with it. Limited edition is just another version of the same thing, except that whether it plays to your emotions thats all.

If you like it and you have to really get it, then I would say its worthwhile, rather than to get a standard spec MR-03 and mod the hell out of it, in the end you are still thinking of this JSCC spec.

If you are looking at this in terms of specs only then I would say its not worth it. If U want something really special then may I recommend you get the MR-03 Red Limited Edition Chassis, that is something that is really special to me and worth a slight premium.
