I have 3 questions:
What is a H-Plate (why is it different, what does it do differently than a t-plate)
and
If I have a DDS, can I drive without a T-Plate?
and
Why doesnt an RM t-plate work with an MM mount and vice-versa?

Thanks.

1. same thing T and H plate...differnet Kyosho models have varied looking plates that perform the same function

2. No

3. They work fine....as long as you are trying for a differnent length wheelbase than the normal uses of RM T-Plate and MM t-Plate. The only difference in the concept is the length of T-plate and their usage precribed by the style of motor pod(nothing says you have to conform):D

You have been of infinite help ;)
Thanks man, cleared up alot!
Well, I bought a carbon tplate when i had an rm setup, but just switch to mm, so it probably wouldnt work, huh?
also, can i use an hplate somehow with my 03?

You could set the chasis up with the same T-plate, but the wheelbase wouldn't be 98/102 for sure as RM T-plates are longer than MM T-plates. In that case, you should adapt you body to fit.

H-plates were meant for MR02. these do not fit the MR03.-

How would I adapt my body to fit it? The thing is that I only have one Tplate, and I need it to fit the same body, but instead of RM, I now use MM.

^ What wheel base and motor mount are you using?

You should be able to use your RM plate for MM, you just have to move it forward a set of holes (the mounting holes on the bottom of the chassis) as compared to running a proper MM plate at the same wheel base. If you motor mount and wheel base holds you to the furthest forward set of holes, then your only choice is extend the rear wheel wells of the body, or buy an MM plate.

I do plan on buying an mm plate, but I am leaving for 8 days and wanted to be able to drive the car. I am using 94mm wheelbase

hmm.... to elaborate...
What is a H-Plate (why is it different, what does it do differently than a t-plate)
h plates were basically made for mr-015 / mr-02, while t plates were specifically made for mr-03
the mm plates are generally shorter than the rm plates... they come in plastic and graphite, and in some other materials...
they also come in different types of stiffnes... from soft to hard... which is dependent on what type of surface you run on...

If I have a DDS, can I drive without a T-Plate?
er like cowboysir said... no :D

Why doesnt an RM t-plate work with an MM mount and vice-versa
actually you could, but you would have to work out what wheelbase setting you need... a bit hard to explain... but its not that complicated... some experimentation could be done here...

hope this helps :D

jdv28... what body do you intend to use?
i believe the shortest wheelbase setting for a mm and mm t plate is 98mm... (?)

Whew! I got it to work. 94mm wheelbase and Mercedes DTM body. I just had to adjust the DDS and do a good bit of shimming. But it all works. As a side question though, I just got the PN 70T motor, and it is a bit harder to turn the pinion by hand and to roll both wheels one way. Is this normal? There is more resistance to turn the pinion then on the stock motor.

^ The magnets in the PN motor are a bit stronger then the ones in the stock can, so yes, it is normal for there to be more resistance.

Also, IME, the PN 70t cans come with pretty tight bushings. A good break-in, or lots of track time will free the motor up some.

i believe the shortest wheelbase setting for a mm and mm t plate is 98mm... (?)

This is true with Kyosho parts, but Atomic and PN offer 94mm MM pods which use the typical MM T/H-plates. FWIW the 94 MM set up has been one of the strongest combos at a lot of competitions, and its what RR 96mm set up is based off of (it just uses 2mm longer plates).

So what changes should I see in going from RM to MM?

Greatly increased stability. Easier to drive when the tail doesn't wag the dog.

Perfect. That plus a new motor gives me a whole new car haha. Thanks everyone
