Is it just my keyboard?
I want to use the * key in the name box under "Race Car Registration Information" to denote under 16 and/or female.....like so **AtomicAlec or *MaryAnn. Should I be able to do this? If not could it be made possible?
It would help when exporting results to the HFAY OLPS format. In the past I have forgotten to include ** or * when submitting results to the HFAY director thus causing extra work.
Thanks.

No it is not your keyboard. I have most of the fields limited to accept standard alpha numeric characters. I did this because some of the extended characters can be interpreted differently by the different functions the program does and cause problems with various functions of the database. In the case of ", and ' it would would probably break most things while others may just be problematic with imports, exports or other functions. So I limited it to characters that were easily certain to be safe.
I expect * to be safe though let me test it out some to be certain since it is something the HFAY requires.

Was it safe? I now use 2 spaces which reminds me to include the * for under 16 when submitting the results.

What if a racer is under 16 and a female?... then what?
Sorry Brian... I usually try to do at least one annoying post a week.

In Season 9 it was 3 stars and green in the standings.

The next release will allow *'s to be put in the name. I checked the code and tested it and it does not appear to create any problems. My main concern was with database queries where * has a special meaning but it looks like I properly escaped all the related queries so that it would not be a problem.
