PNRacing and MBMZR are getting together again. This time PN has decided to let MBMZR host the PNWC finals!

The event will be held October 29th - 31th, and will be an action packed weekend of intense competitive racing.

The event will be run under the typical PN finals style, with 4 rounds of qualifying, each rounds finish will be re-sort, and then the mains. The lower mains will be 8 minutes with a bump-up awarded for each winner. The A-Mains will be run in the "Triple A-Main" format.

Rules and classes will be the same as what is run at the regionals. Here is a link to them (with the regional layout pictured): PNWC Rules. (http://www.pnracing.us/pnwc2010/pnwc-2010-rules.htm)

Stay tuned for further information!

VENUE
The event will be held at Ultimate Sports and Fitness, in Myrtle Beach, SC. Their exact location and contact data is:
568 George Bishop Parkway, Myrtle Beach, SC, 29572
(843) 251-9482

Ultimate Sports and Fitness charges $5 a day for visitors. On Saturday and Sunday I am covering the costs for entry, but during the week if you want to practice, you will be responsible for this fee. It is a daily fee, so you can come and go as many times as you please during that day.

We held our regional at this location, and it was successful. It was a bit hot in there in June, but average temperatures for the end of October are low 70s, which should be perfect weather. The building is not climate controlled, but we do have some fans, and space heaters for when its necessary. We added a couple of huge lights over the track, so visibility is excellent, but addition pit lighting is usually preferred (I don't use it, but most of our other locals do).

Here are some pictures of our section of the facility.
http://i671.photobucket.com/albums/vv77/MBMZR/The%20Cage%20-%20track%20pics/2010-06-07006.jpg

You can see that there was plenty of space to go bigger than the regional layout. Philip says we may run something in the range of 22-24x14, but we have the capability go much bigger.
http://i671.photobucket.com/albums/vv77/MBMZR/The%20Cage%20-%20track%20pics/2010-06-07007.jpg

This is our typical pit spacing, with two people to a table.

HOTEL
There are a number of hotel options in Myrtle Beach. For people driving in or renting a car the options are endless. I will pursue a discounted rate at one of the recommended places on the beach, if there is enough interest.

For now, I have struck a deal with the Hilton Garden Inn. The hotel is directly between the Airport and the track, and they have offered to provide transportation on demand to and form the airport, and on a schedule (probably once in the morning and once in the afternoon) to the track.

There address is:
Hilton Garden Inn Coastal Grand Mall
2383 Coastal Grand Circle
Myrtle Beach, SC 29577
You can click this text for a link to the hotel. (http://hiltongardeninn.hilton.com/en/gi/hotels/index.jhtml;jsessionid=B0TEGVADNC1YECSGBIXM22Q?cty hocn=MYRAPGI)

The room rate is $69/night plus applicable taxes (and other small fees I'm sure) :D Their regular rate (if you book online direct) with no discounts, is about $160/night, so this is a substantial discount. They will allow you to have up to four occupants in each room as well, so this could work out really cheap for people traveling in groups.

If you call them you can request to speak to Debbie, but you should not have any trouble getting the discounted rate, as long as you tell them the dates, and let them know it is for the "PN Racing World Cup RC race".

Debbie is no longer with the Hilton Garden Inn, but any one should be able to give you the discount, as long you tell them you are with the "PN Racing World Cup". If you have any troubles what so ever, Jenna and Wendy are the folks in the sales department who set it all up, and they will sort anything out the front desk can't.

There is a dead line for the special rate. You must make your reservation before October 15th. They will not hold the rooms or honor the discounted rate after that, so please make your reservations. They have another large group who is wanting some of our rooms, so the urgency is there! Please don't miss out on this deal. Their regular rate for that weekend is around $120-160 per night, so we are talking about ~50% savings if you book before the dead line.

You can email your reservation in to Jenna @ jennifer.hicks@hilton.com

Other points of interest for the weekend travel plans, I am working on a list of local activities that is going on for the Halloween weekend. Hopefully we can find enough things to do, so that family obligations do not impede any one from making it on this holiday weekend.

If any one has any other questions about travel, or anything else for that matter, please do not hesitate to post away, or PM anything that needs more personal assistance.

kromie - I will get a sign up link from Philip soon, Im sure. I believe there will be a drivers list on the sign up sheet, but if not, I am prepared to keep up with it manually.

Otherwise, just to get an idea if any one planning to come, it would be cool if they dropped the hint here ;) I don't know about the NJ guys, but almost every one else who was at the regional should be here.

Going back a little ;)

Landon, i assume there will be practice Friday?

In case you didn't see where I edited into the top of the page, Philip will be down Thursday morning and we plan on setting the layout up so its ready for first thing Friday morning. There will be a layout down earlier in the week, so you could get some time on the RCP in our environment. We plan on running a regular club race on that Wednesday, and any one who is in town is welcome to join us. I think Matt said he was going to try and come down early enough to run that night.

I should have everything covered :D I'll just need you to drive :D

Landon...again congrats on the new child.

Thanks Larry! Hopefully it doesn't hinder my practice time too much between now and then ;)

The facility is open from 7am til 10pm on weekdays, and stays open until 12am on Friday and Saturday night. I will have the track available upon request during those hours. Our 'cage' has a pad lock on it, to keep our stuff secure, but I live and work close by and will open it up to any one who needs it.

Any one who thinks they will need to get in, I will give my phone number to, so we can make arrangements to have it open.

I always give you the credit for the glitch fix;). If it wasnt for you I would still be suffering from it.

You know, there are some nice big houses down by the beach that would be great to take the kids to. It would be different for them too, how many times would they have the chance to trick or treat at the beach.:p

On that note, every one please consider any young racers who you may know that would enjoy participating in an event like this. There seems to be a mistake on the sign up link, so I will wait for Philip to confirm.

I will contact Debbie today and see what her preferred method of contact is via the internet for taking reservations. Hopefully I will have something posted within a few hours.

On a serious note it is too bad you are not coming because you really stand a chance at a podium postion and a shot the PN World Champion spot. The fact that no one knows the layout until the day of the race is going to make things very interesting.

Larry I promise to take it easy on you buddy! I have been practicing trying pilot through traffic better and letting faster guys by.

After several years of trial and error, I have come to the conclusion that less wrecks = more laps and more friends.:)

Eric, I don't think Lincoln is going to make it for this one. I will have my hands full without having to mechanic an additional car. Besides I am not sure he can stomach three days of racing just yet. He will be at the next cup race though.

So I haven't been able to get online on a PC for a few days, so I have a few updates to add :D

We have some new sponsors for the event! PN is working on Kyosho, KO Propo and a few others, so this list could grow a bit.

For now we have:
CFI
mantisworx
Sticky Fingers
Ultimate Sports and Fitness

CFI is providing pretty much everything that it takes to run the event (track, CPU, counter, etc..), as they do for our local club. Marcus of mantisworx has promised some of his new innovative parts for the raffle. Sticky Fingers is offering a 15% discount on all meals for all participants and their guests! Sticky Fingers is a rib house (the have other foods too) and bar that is located right next to the hotel, and close enough to the track that take-out can be arranged very easily on race days. Ultimate Sports and Fitness is providing us with the floor space to set up the track, and allowing us to put up a fence (also donated by CFI) to keep everything secure overnight.

Of course this is in addition to MBMZR and PNRacing, who will both be providing some great give-aways for the raffles!

Also there are deadlines to be met for this event.

October 15th is the cut-off for the discounted room rate at the Hilton. See the front page of the thread for more information.

October 20th is the dead line for sign up. You must be registered and paid before this date. There will be no exceptions, so if you want to race this event, get your information sent in!

Also, on the front page, all of the recent edits are highlighted in cyan so they are easily spotted. If you haven't checked those info posts in a while, please read through them and make sure you don't have any questions.

^ I don't have to travel anywhere and I want this to be the race of the century :D I am putting a lot of effort into the event, so any reward will be good.

Halloween is a big holiday in the US, and a lot of the guys who I know race are having a hard time convincing their wives (and themselves) to spend the weekend without the kids. If this wasn't in my town, I probably wouldn't be able to attend either. Luckily for me, I should be out of there Saturday night early enough to take my little one trick or treating! She is 2.5 going on 18, and she is READY for Halloween!

We have some nice neighborhoods close to the track if it helps any of those other parents wanting to come! There are always a large amount of festivities at Broadway at the Beach!

its going to be tough with us running 4 qualifiers. im sure we will run 3 on saturday and 1 and mains sunday. it all depends on the number of heats. you can always leave and possible miss what could be your best run.

im with emu i signed up for all 4 with the likely hood of dropping one if im not doing so hot in one class.

Haha, It'll be good to run with you. Hopefully some of my cars that work, are in the same classes with some of your that work :D I'm really looking forward to F1. I've been steady working on that car since the last cup race, and think I finally have something that can hang with Matt's car. Now it'll be a matter of whether I drive it or not :D

5 may be a little hopeful. We shouldn't be long after that though. Philip wants to do a group dinner that night (which I will post details abut as we get closer), so we are shooting to be done in time for that. If trick or treating is going on in my 'hood (IDK whether they are doing it Sat or Sun), Griff is welcome to come down and check it out.

The current plan is to run all four qualifiers on Saturday, and only have mains on Sunday. I know it seems like four rounds is going to be hard to get done in one day, but its easily within reach, unless there are a ridiculous amount of entries (which I would welcome with open arms). At our typical events, we usually run 3 rounds of qualifiers (albeit only 5 min long), and all the mains for 3 to 4 classes in a day. We also start around lunch for practice and morning travelers. For this event, we will start a lot earlier, and should be done with two rounds by lunch time. There will be a lot of racing going on, so practice/down time on the main track will be minimal. That's why I urge people to come in on Friday to get their time on the layout for tuning. I will have a smaller test track set up so practice can go on while qualifying is happening. It should help people with finding traction, but I don't have enough tiles or space to set up something as large and flow-y as the main layout should be.

You know I'm gonna try to run all four! Hopefully Ill have four ready cars before Saturday gets here. I don't usually have time for anything but batteries and driving :D

Are you trying to take away the "Mini-Z IRONMAN" title from Bill??? :D;)

I don't think any one can take anything away from Bill :D but you will likely see a bunch of southerners running all four classes. At most of our local events pretty much every one runs everything :D Every event is an "Iron Man" event down here :D...especially with our new race series ;)

I am sure that having the race on Halloween has something to do with the low entries, but I expect that many are waiting for the last day (like I normally do)...

I am putting my job at risk by going to the race, because I cant find anyone to cover my shift due to Halloween. If I find coverage, Im good... if I dont, I dont know what they will do, but Im committed to race :) Nobody wants to work Halloween for me, even for an extra $100 on top of what they would get for the shift :(

The low participant count is probably also due to the current economic times.

What is cool is to note that most people are running 3-4 classes, so the entry count will actually be kind of high. This is pretty cool. Out of the people that were on the list earlier today only 2 were not running GT Mod!!! Awesome! This is kinda why we wanted them combined in the first place. Jacob is still yet to sign up, so that should be a +1 on GT Mod and Pan Car/Stock (up in the air).

I'm sure the economy has something to do with it as well. There are plenty of people racing, but traveling is always much harder on the budget than staying local.

When was the list up? Did it show up only when you registered?

I wouldn't think the lexan body would be that much different from the plastic version, it's thick lexan and with the addition of the mounting bracket and front bumper the weight should be almost the same. Maybe a little different balance.

Hope the weather will be good cause itīs snowing here in Sweden right now and I like the sun better.

if its anything like it has been for the past 2 weeks it will be as good as it can get. mid to upper 70s low humidity, no rain and sunny skies. what more can you ask for?

That'll be the first time Collin has been able to practice in a while, so I know he will want to bring him out pretty early.

Hello everyone,
Just to let everyone know the track will be open at 1:00 pm Tuesday thru Friday and will stay open until at least 5:00 pm and we may be able to work out where we could stay later. Keep in mind that we are still pulling together some last minute details, cleaning, ect, but that will not keep you from runnig laps. Also as a reminder those days are $5.00 US for all day, to be paid to the Plex at the door. Just tell the person at the door you are looking for the race track and they will direct you. I look forward to meeting everyone.

Thursady night will be change the PNWC layout for Friday practice, no one know the layout, only Landon and me.

All drivers in practice time you can use your own transponder, but in the race all drivers MUST be use house transponder, we have two sets for the race, because whn you finish the race, you must be stop your car at PIT IN zone, the tech man will pick up your car for tech, as the same time they will pull out all transponder form the car, they dn't which one is personal or house, so that's why we not allow personal transponder in the race, for tech man easy control.

I think everything is covered pretty well. I just got back into town from a long hard trip for a family funeral. I am getting back into the swing of things, and trying my best to get things finalized for the weekend. I will have a basic schedule up this afternoon, and will have the full schedule up tomorrow sometime after I get the final registration list from Philip.

I think everything else has been covered but if Eric or Chad missed anything, or you need more clarification, feel free to post. I should be checking in here very often from now until the event.

Talked to Philip extensively today. He is going to post the official race day schedule tomorrow at some point. At that point I will link this schedule, and his to the front page in printable form.

For now, here is this weeks practice schedule for the track for the folks coming into town. Of course I will fill in the details for the weekend after I have talked it over with Philip.

Tuesday - Practice - 1pm-5pm
Wednesday - Practice - 1pm-5:30ish - Race Program 5:45ish-~9pm *
Thursday - Practice - 1pm-5pm **
Friday - Practice - 1pm-10pm
Saturday - Practice - 7am-8am followed by drivers meeting and qualifying
Sunday - Practice - 7am-Racing starts for mains

* Our race program usually runs from 6-8:30 or so. With the influx of racers it may last a little bit longer. The classes will be stock and mod. Stock means a 70t motor, and you can run anything in mod, including pan cars. I won't separate the pan and GT cars out, but you can run whatever you want to practice with for the weekend. I would like to run a heat of F1, but that will depend on participation. There are four of us here who have them, so if we get a couple more, we can run this too. If it looks like we are going to have a long night, I may cut F1 to one qually to keep it short (if there are a lot of heats in the other classes). We will play it by ear. I am very flexible...until the racing starts... :D

** On Thursday, I will commit to practice until 5pm as a definite. With Philip coming into town to set the layout up, I am sure there will be folks who want to run on the actual layout as early as it is available. There is a very strong chance that we will be there practicing until 10pm that night too :D

Again, the Saturday/Sunday times posted are what I think will be the start times. The place opens at 7, and we will have some one there for the track to open up, so you can count on that. The actual racing start times will be decided by Philip, which should be posted tomorrow.

SPONSOR UPDATE!!!

This week has been a busy one for the mail man. :D I got a box from KO Propo, and a box from Kyosho. They sent some high dolla goods! KO sent a key chain, an MR03 setting card, and an EX-10 Eurus!! Kyosho sent and I-series VW RTR, and an MR02 DBR9 RTR! These will be some very nice give-aways, to go along with the other garb we are collecting.

Also, just a reminder, Ultimate Sports Facility (we usually refer to it as "the plex") charges $5 per day for you to get in and use the facility. You will have to pay this to get in to practice, but it is covered for you for Saturday and Sunday. You'll just need to sign in on a special sign in sheet on those days. They also have a snack stand on site, which sells chips, candy, ice cream, and cold drinks (water, soda, gatorade, juice, etc..). They have a grill that they are going to set up for lunch on Saturday and Sunday, so a good cheap lunch will be available on site. It will be something simple like hamburgers and hot dogs. There are other restaurants close by that have take out and delivery, as well as a few fast food places within a short drive.

Philip sent a good quantity of parts for me to sell to you guys. The list is everything from tires, to PCBs, with most everything in between. I have a lot of PN stuff and a pretty good selection of Kyosho parts, along with a good bit reflex and mantis parts, with a few from other random vendors. I just don't have a ton of each item. The "store" will be cash only though. I don't have any way to take any other form of payment. There is an ATM on site if you need it.

Should see some folks coming in today to race :D I haven't had time to get my cars together (no pan or stock car even started), so I'm hoping Ive got a minute to get some work done before too many people show up. When there are racers around I tend to talk instead of tune

Jocke, The curbs are my own creation. Philip liked them, so he said thy could stay. Ill get you some details on how I made them if you are interested.

Tjay, you are out of touch. You should be here ;)

After a long day of practice I am ready to crash. Not every one had transponders in, and I didnt see every lap time, but here are some notables to the best of what I remember.

Chad and Grant were in the 10.8 range in mod pan. Mike Newly and Mike Gee were in the 11.6 range (I heard Gee hit an 11.5 even) with Chad Nelson close behind (11.7 I think). In f1 every one looks to be very close, and it'll be an interesting class to watch. I was focusin on my own ft mod car, so I don't remember many lap times. The usual suspects are very fast. The RR gang, the PN gang and a few other typically fast guys were running circles around me even when I felt like I was flying :)

Tomorrow is gonna be bonkers!! We will start the live feed early, so check it out. Ill also try and take pics of the results as the heats finish up to keep every one up to date on the standings.

Yep, they're nice and light and the cars definitely feel faster with them. Somewhat a "true" Pan Class in that there's a good performance advantage vs. Kyosho bodies.

I want to give a shout to my 1/18th scale buddy Mike Gee 2nd place stock
I wonder if he will now race on the dark side with us Mini Z Maniacs....

Was Reflex running there new motor mount????

You will be seeing more of Gee at mini z races now. He really out did himself, his second time with a mini z and he places 2nd in stock, good job Mike. If all goes as planned expect to see him at the Garden State Shootout in December.

On that note, I would like to congratulate Mike Gee and Mike Keely on becoming the two newest members of Team Reflex!! They came out and performed great. Good job Guys.

The new mount was being used by some of the drivers but I'll let CT elaborate on that more. As far as I know it was good but there are some changes to be made.

Conspicuous in their absence was the Jersey mafia. Some results may have been different. Sorry guys. It would have been nice to see everybody again.
I even brought the tire warmers for Maj.

The building temperature was much more pleasant this time. The highest temperature I recorded was a balmy 79.9 degrees and a max humidity of
58%. Traction was Maj's quality.

Yes. They ran the mount. It is very nice and coming soon to a hobby shop near you.

Congrats to all the winners…

I'm at the airport hanging out with some of the Euro drivers. That Axel guy is crazy! ;)

It was great to meet a lot of the folks on here. Chad is definitely the man, but we've known that for a while! He dominated this weekend as expected and it was well deserved. Aside from Chad, the racing has never been closer at a PNWC. The field was limited, but the quality of drivers was the best yet! Many "freight train" runs with 4-5 guys covered by 1.5 seconds... The layout was awesome and a lot more technical lthan in years past. Huge thanks go out to Landon, Tanny and the rest of the crew!

We'll have to see what the final verdict is on the fastest lap of the day. Grant and Uri both lived up to their reputations as they each posted 10.408 with MR-02 and MR-03. Mini-Z rookie Mike "Fireflies" Gee posted the fastest stock lap 11.252 with a borrowed MR-03. Before we start going down the 02/03 peeing contest road, I'll just say this: "it's the archer, not the arrow." And Chad was without a doubt the best archer! :)

See you guys next year!

Just got home. What a weekend. Congratulations to Chad, who showed true championship winning dedication and talent throughout the entire year in the PNWC. I would also like to congratulate Jacob, who raced Formula 1 for the first time, and took home the trophy.

I feel very drained. I am happy and disappointed at the same. I really wanted to get on the podium in Formula 1, but missed it by 2s in the tie break with Matt Ward. Jacob used my loaner car and got his first Formula 1 title, in a very tight battle with Bill Crotty. Jay Vasquez put up a stellar performance in the F1 A main as well, leading the A2 round for about 3 minutes :)

All A mains were triple A's and that was a blessing and a curse (especially for marshalling if you were in B mains and A mains... I ran 4 classes, 2 A mains, and 2 B mains. Which meant that I raced 8 main runs, and marshalled 6 main runs... There was a stretch of 6 mains that I was either racing or marshalling. When will I ever learn

Early Thursday, I decided that I was not going to run the Pan class. I had the new lexan body, which was still in the package. I focused my setup tuning on stock, mod and F1. Late in qualifying on Saturday I felt that my cars were good, and at the point that the only setup adjustments needed were tires, so I decided to run Pan on Sunday, which left only one qualifier and the mains. Landon accepted the task to do a quick paintjob, being that the hobby shop was already closed, and I couldnt get paint anywhere. I had planned on building the car Saturday night, but after the drivers dinner, I was just too tired to get every out to build it. So it was going to have to be done in the morning when the track opened. I had a few options to go with for the car, and consulted a few drivers on what the best approach would be for the car. I got the car together in about 30 minutes, cut the body and hit the track... It worked well, and I was able to place in the bottom of the A main in the LCQ. I had expected to be middle B main, and this exceeded my expectations. Going into the mains, I managed to get 6th in the first main, and was really stoked about that. I didnt have power late in the 2nd main since I was using a 43t and once the batteries dropped in power, I pulled off not to impede the other drivers on the track, and broke out of the third after a big hit at the lap counter that broke the chassis where the body mounts and tweaked the top shock.

It was my best PNWC appearance, and I learned more in these 3 days about tuning a Mini-Z than I learned in any other race that I have attended. I got to meet some great racers from Sweden, Belgium, Germany, and Guatamala. The racing was so close, and those that did not attend, really missed out. I look forward to seeing the videos :) Especially due to the camera's view of the track from a high angle.

Time to get ready for work

Looks like you all had fun and it was a great event. Good job PN and all the rest of the guys in the organization, looks like you put up quite a show. I'm really sorry that i had to miss this one, but hope to be at the finals next year!! :p

Looks like things didn't work out 100% for my team buddies, but i hope to hear from them soon...

Thanks berm, I do have a mini z of my own now.. I'll probably be doing some of the local HFAY races, and trying to make some of the bigger events with Matt

LMFAO.

On a more serious note,
Id like to give a HUGE thanks to Matt Ward and EMU, without their help and giving me everything (literally everything car, radio, tires, packs, etc) I wouldnt have been able to make it. Also big thanks to Mike Keely for giving me the ride down and splitting the room.

I wish I could have qualified better, by the time I got up to 2nd in the mains from 4th on the grid, Chad had too much of a gap to close down. I was on a TQ run in R4 but got caught up with some backmarkers. Big props to Chad for laying it down in all 3 classes he ran. He had by far the most clean runs of anyone all weekend

One last big thanks to Christian Tabush for giving me the car he used to qualify 2nd and place 3rd in stock with just so I could have a car to run. Can't thank him enough for that, im looking forward to running it for myself and getting more than 30 seconds of time with a good car before I go to another big race haha

Mike, your driving was great to watch. You definitely deserve your 2nd place finish. Its always a pleasure to watch you race, and hang out in the pits. I look forward to doing more Mini-Z racing with you... and maybe I will take a stab at 1/18 if I ever get a chance ;) Your welcome :)

Also, your user name is mispelled... it should be 'unit', not 'unti' Send a PM to Arch2B or Mini-Z, and they should be able to get it sorted.

I do have an Exotek Xray chassis... somewhere at my parents place, as well as a standard chassis Xray... I just have never used them, since there is nowhere to race them here. We were going to start running them, but there was a loss of interest by the majority of people.

Had a great time this weekend. Very happy to place into the A main in stock. There was a lot of skill and knowledge there so I am happy with how I did. Like Eugene said I also learned a lot. I hope to run more races with all of you.

I had my body knocked off in two of the three A mains so I really need Chad to show me some pics on what he does with the plumbers putty on the body? If that doesn't work I can PM him my phone number.

Thanks everyone that worked to put this event on. MK

This was my first World Cup. All i can say is WOW!! I myself had a so so results. My best shot was in F-1 and i never got to run it. I worked on it all day Friday...just couldnt get handling and had steering problems so i dropped out. My other 2 classes, my goal was the B mains and top 3. Made the B mains not top 3. Definitly was all me....cars were good but some tracks are hard to nail and this was one for me.
I had a great time! Thanks to Landon and all his crew for a job well done. Of course Philip (PN), and all his relentless work in pushing the mini-z to new heights all the time. Im proud to be a friend.:)
I enjoyed pitting with the 2 Mikes and my good friend Matt and Eugene. Was glad to finally meet Cristian and Joe from Reflex and always like to talk to Jacob and his dad. Got to hang out with some of the foreign guys as well. Magnus....nice having diner with you and seeing your home track pics. Also got to know Romel and Luke from Ca. The Carolina gang always treats me like one of them. Last but not least.....The PN team guys. ALWAYS enjoy hanging out and talking to you guys (Chad, Grant and Bill).:):)....LARRY

First I'd like to thank Landon and the crew at MBMZR for hosting such a smooth running event. The facility was awesome and the track had a ton of grip.

Philip NG, thanks again for organizing the PNWC yet again, without you Reflex pretty much would not exist.

Chad Nelson, what can I say, you were the man. I am glad you finally got your titles. Your pace was just too quick for everyone to keep up with. While others matched and maybe bested your laptimes, nobody could run as flawless at that pace.

Grant!!!! Awesome racing with you man! Our battles were EPIC!!! I have never had so much fun running in the A main at any event. We both had to come from the mid/back of the pack every run to get our podium spots. That ish was intense!!!

TEAM REFLEX: Well, Jacob added WC #7 to the bag and gave Reflex #10!!! We are now in the double digits boys, CONGRATS!!! You all came and more than exceeded expectations. Thank you all for representing us so well again, you are all great drivers, but even better friends and people. Matt, EMU, Joe, Jacob, Mike and Mike thanks for your hard work and dedication.

For me, what can I say, my goal going into the weekend was to simply make the A-Mains. Not having touched a Z since June I did not expect to have the pace to compete with the top guys. This was also the first race for me with our proto mount and Low Profile suspension and all I can say is Wow! The cars were super easy to drive and allowed me to podium in both GT Mod and Stock. My stock car was great, but my power was WAAAAAAAY down. Third place was as far as the motors and batteries I had were going to take me. Mod, well I was simply not used to the speed of these car now :o I chased set-up a bit and with the help of Chad and Grant I finally got a good tire combination to contend for a podium spot. Coming from 6th on the grid was tough to get up front, especially with everyone being so fast and evenly matched. That 3rd place result was my best ever in the GT mod class, and it was certainly the most fun. In A2 and A3, Grant and I battled the entire mains, swapping positions about 8 times in each main. In the end, that 3rd place finish felt like a win for me.

As an observation, the reduction of classes was a great thing to do. It really made the top guys go against each other pretty much every class and it increased the talent top to bottom in the A mains. Even though turnout was a little low, the number of entries was pretty high.

To my Guatemalan friends, thanks for coming and racing with us. It was a blast to see you guys again and laugh constantly at Eric's jokes and stories. We will certainly organize the PN Race in Guatemala again next year so we can all qualify for the finals once more.

Lastly, to all the Friends and Customers of Reflex, thank you!!! It was awesome to see how many MR-03's have our parts on them. This was the most satisfying part of the Finals for me. Thanks to all of you for your support and confidence in our product line. As I always say, you are the reason why we are here and why we strive to keep making parts for these awesome little machines.

Another excellent event put on by Philip, Landon, and the rest of the crew. You guys did an amazing job keeping things running smoothly, and it seemed like we were always ahead of schedule.

As far as the racing, the level of driving was incredible. Chad, your pace throughout the weekend really was unparalleled, and I think I speak for everyone when I say how happy I am that you finally got the titles you so deserved. Congrats to whole PN crew for a really solid showing. Grant even got dethroned by Uri for fastest lap of the weekend, which was a shocker for everyone. Grant made up for it though, he was BeerQ at the bar that night...:)

As for Team Reflex, I think we exceeded expectations with a podium in every class. Its really a pleasure racing with guys that are such class acts. Without Cristian helping me constantly with setup, Joe calling the races, Matt loaning me every tool under the sun, Eugene giving me his extra F1 car, and my dad helping put it all together and be my support, I would not be anywhere in this hobby.

Lastly it was a great time just hanging out with everyone after the racing was all done. That, to me, was the best part of the weekend. The comradery that I see at every event really goes to show that we are a part of a great community of drivers.

I'm pretty sure he was using the F430 in mod and stock.
EDIT: F430 in stock, and mosler in GT mod.

Was Reflex running there new motor mount????

The new RR motor mount looks great. The thing I love about these guys is how simple and effective their designs are. At 94mm it had more forward clearance than any pod Ive seen. It looked very light, yet plenty sturdy, and the wheelbase adjustment is intelligently simple. With just a few screws you'll be able to change wheel base with little to no disassembling.

For me it was an awesome event. I was very busy and didn't get to wrench on any of my cars. For that my performance was sub-par as far as racing went.

My mod GT car was awesome!....except for traction rolling. I lost at least a couple of laps on each of my first to runs by resting on my lid every few laps. I tried to tame it with driving, but it was just too easy to get it over if I was adjusting line because of traffic. I tried swapping to some different front tires, but lost two laps to pace, and pretty much neglected the class while sitting one up from the bottom.

In pan I was in the B and doing pretty well. In the last qualifier I broke my T plate. It was cracked and tweaked, but not broken through. I drove it like it was in the main, since I didn't have time to change it with everything else going on. I made it up to third, and while challenging Axel early, we got together and I ended up facing the wrong way with a freight train coming. The front bumper of my car got broken, and nothing was holding the car straight or level, so it was dragging and lifting causing all sorts of problems. I made laps while I could, but ended up just pulling over most of the race, so I pulled off early.

F1 was where I was hoping to do well, and my car held together all weekend. I've been chasing Matt for pace at the last few races Ive seen him, and thought coming in, I might have something for him. In the A1 race I made it out pretty clean through the start (from 4th on the grid) and got out in the front of the pack. After the dust settled I was in a pretty comfortable third behind Bill and Jacob. Matt and EMU both out paced me in the middle of the race and challenged for my spot, but neither of them were running clean enough to make an overtake. As their pace dropped shortly after mine, I settled back in and just wanted to ride out the race. With about 2 minutes to go my batteries faded horribly. It took a couple of laps before people really started noticing, but once Joe saw it, and called it out, the excitement level around the track went way, and my nerves started to give way. I could see EMU inching closer with each pass down the straight, and knew it was going to be tough to hold him off. With about 30 seconds to go he was drawing really close, and my batteries totally dumped. He plugged it in the wall behind me, as I tried my best to keep momentum up. It only took him a few corners to catch back up, but time was running out. I stayed on the line as tight as possible to keep him from having any space. I was blocking hard on exit, and kept him behind me for almost a full lap. When we crossed the bridge I was hoping it was going to be over. Joe called for one more, and I knew I wouldn't make it. At this point I didn't even know if I could complete the lap, but I still fought EMU super hard. I forced him to make contact to pass. We tangled up in the middle and I got away quicker. On his next attempt on the left we hit again, but this time he squeaked by. It was like relief to every one, but then, coming to the line he parked it, and I crept by for the third spot!! The crowd went wild, and my heart almost exploded! In A2, we had another great battle. At the start this time there was an accident coming through the 45 that I checked up for. I was right in front of Matt and we got together. I ended up losing my rear wing, and came out in last right behind who I thought was EMU. It was a white car, and I didn't know whether it was him or Jacob. It was far enough ahead I couldn't tell, but I knew I had a lot of time to make up, and a lot of time to do it. I stayed as clean as I could, and even while making a few bobbles, did pretty good staying off of the wall. Late in the race I moved up to challenge Matt and EMU for their positions. After a couple of nervous laps trading positions and corners with them I found myself in third. Matt closed in, and I made a big mistake. I ended up back right in front of EMU in fourth, and held onto it until the end. Coming into A3 I had the advantage over them with a 3rd and 4th. Matt had a 5th and a 3rd, and EMU had a 4th and 5th. Unless EMU took third and Matt beat me too, I was a lock for fourth, and could cinch 3rd if I finished there. I got through the melee at the beginning and started running a clean as I could. My car didn't have the pace it had in the first two runs, and I got nervous and tried to push. It was bad news as I made a few mistakes, and tangled a few times with other cars. Within a very short time I was running a lap down to the leader with Matt followed by EMU coming to lap me. I fended Matt off for a while even with his car quicker than mine. He put me down, then I pressured him into a mistake and he gave it back. In the middle section of the race he came back and started applying heavy pressure to me. I couldn't fend him off, and made a big mistake on the left side of the track. I fell all the way back to EMU even though I had a big gap (for the lap, not position) before that wreck. He pushed me, and while defending him Matt got a big lead on us. After EMU got by, my hopes were pretty much gone. I could only hope he wouldn't catch Matt. There was still a bunch of time on the clock, but I didn't have the pace to make up laps on these guys who I was so evenly matched with. By falling off slightly, Jay was right there making moves on me too. After he got by, and I couldn't catch him up, I ended up pulling off with what looked like was turning into another set of weak cells. With all the extra rounds that I'm not used too (4 Qs and triple As), and all the stuff I had on my brain I just didn't have the batteries in line well enough, and it cost me.

Matt, EMU, and I all ended up with a 3rd and a 4th place finish. In the A1 if my batteries wouldn't have fallen off, and I would have gone about 4 to 5 seconds faster, I would have been on the podium instead of Matt. If EMU wouldn't have given third back to me on the last corner of the same race, he would have been on the podium. It was my first world cup finals, and my first time competing in a triple A format. I cant think of a word good enough to describe the rush of those three races. I know I lost out in the end, but I couldn't ask for two better friends to lose out too. Also, with a 5th place world finals finish under the circumstances I raced, I am very very happy.

As for the event itself, It pretty much ran itself. Myssie moved things along nicely, and gave us all the pertinent information during qualifying. She kept us on, or ahead of schedule the whole weekend. This made for some extra time here and there for practice and food, and also relieved the pressure of having to rush to get done. Tannie was on tech, and we had him jumping! I tried to help out as much as possible, but once he got his system rolling in the first round, I was more in the way than anything else. Jennifer was on the camera for us all weekend. I took some pics, which I will link up in a moment, but she will have some great high quality photos to share as well. She had much more time to capture the event, and I cant wait to see what she has! My dad was instrumental in the set up of the pits and race space. He hung most of the banners, set up all of the tables, chairs and electricity, as well as contracting my mom to help clean everything the week before the race. Also, if it wasn't for him, our club wouldn't have a secured area, any of the RCP, drivers stands, tables , compressors, etc, etc, etc. Not only are his monetary and labor donations appreciated, but also the rest of the support he gives me to pursue this hobby which brings me so much joy. In the end, I thought I was going to end up calling most of the A-Mains, but we had a huge helper in the house by the name of Joe Chen! He stepped up and originally offered to help call a few A-Mains for me. In the end, he took the reigns and called every single race except two that he ran in. He even gave up his A2 and A3 runs in F1 to call everything. I can't thank him enough for this sacrifice. The excitement he brought on the mic is priceless, and I'm still laughing at some of the jokes he dropped on people :D A huge amount of appreciation goes out to all of these people who made everything so much easier on me. A few years ago, I was the photographer, announcer, director, tech, and anything else that needed to be done at an event. With this cast of helpers it was a breeze to put on an event of this caliber, and it was much more enjoyable like this! :D

The racers are really what makes an event, and that rings more true here than any other event Ive ever attended, hosted, or even heard about. With the exception of a few very minor delays (which ended up being insignificant with the pace of the race day) every one was in place race with their equipment ready nearly every single race. We had marshalls when we needed them, drivers when we needed them, and only had to wait on me for the video camera in the mains a couple of times :D On top of being on the stand, or on the corners when they needed to be, every one performed awesomely, which made for some of the most exciting racing I've ever been a part of. I witnessed guys driving from the back of super tight fields to earn their spots on the podiums. I got to see one of the greatest of all time mini-Z racers (yep I dropped GOAT after seeing him race again), sweep the three classes he participated in in extreme fashion. I witnessed two Mini-Z rookies (first ever events, and less than 30 minutes driving a Z combined) make A-mains and take trophies home.

The highlight of the weekend for me though, would have to be hanging with new folks. I gave a lot of rides to the euro drivers, and had a blast chatting it up with the Swedes, Steve, and Uri. Cutting up with you guys was a blast. At the Saturday dinner I ended up sitting with the RR crew, and the guys form Guatemala. Eric is an absolute trip! His stories had me rolling! I said on Sunday that I would buy the beer for him and Jay V to get together and share stories, but I think Ill have to retract that offer after thinking about it further. I don't think I could afford it, lol. I still want to be there when it happens though! Hanging with the Feinsteins (two class act guys), CT, Joe, and EMU was a lot of fun too! I ate lunch with Chad and Grant, and got to know both of them much better. Romel and Luke seemed to be the quiet ones in the group. Both are very quiet and respectful, and I enjoyed what time I did get to interact with them. I ran a few races with each, and we were always standing close on the drivers stand. I think I pretty much got some personal time with every one who came, which was pretty awesome for me. I think I reached 'friend' level with most :D

In the end, a huge thanks has to go out to Philip to what he brings to the sport. CT mentioned RR wouldn't be here if it weren't for PN. That is probably true for a lot of us. He has pushed the level of this sport up to the top, and his dedication to making it fun, enjoyable, and competitive at all levels is instrumental in the continued success of the scale. A big thanks also goes out to Philip for giving me the chance to host this race! I'm glad we lived up to every ones expectations!
