hi folks hope you can help out with this...

thus far, i believe that square makes the most beautiful rims... as a general reference, i was wondering if square rim owners can post pictures of your square rims along with the bodies... so that we can see what rims go well with what type of body... was also hoping that you could put the model number of the rim along with the pics...

I don't own any but I do agree that Square makes some of the finest alloy wheels for Mini-Z. Too bad they're so hard to come by...:(

The BBS Inch-UP's are my favorites, and on the 360GTC.... Perfect.:)

I have to agree with you on the quality of the wheels. I have a set of the gold BBS wheels on My Ferrari 360 GTC Scuderia Ecosse and I absolutely love them.
Where do you typically get your Square wheels from?

i bought nearly every pair i own from the shop here. 9 years ago, i actually bought a pair from an asian shop.

There are a couple shops in the US that sell Squares, one being the Shop here and there's another one down in SoCal that I just bought a set from -- addiction. Otherwise, Asia and eBay are the ways to go.

If anyone's itching to buy a set cheaper than MSRP, I'm going to sell my split-6 spokes, silver 0N/1W, soon. I no longer have any bodies that narrow, so I should clean them up and let them go. :)

great collection arch2b... wondering... while using for them for 10 years... did they develop any kinks or dents? like has durability ever been an issue while racing? i ask because most of mine are on shelf queens...

thanks for posting guys... squares really complete the look of these autoscales...
just lovin it... :D

i did manage to put a good nick in the outer rim face of a pair by running a modified mr-02 outside on asphalt and loosing the car in a pot hole a couple inches in size. enough to swallow the car. the front wheel hit the other side at just the right angle at absolute full speed. i kept using the wheels and just took a nail punch to tap the nick back out.

the common worry is they are delicate. i can attest to my personal experience that they are indeed very durable despite the delicate nature of the design. i've bent/broken far more plastic wheels over the years.

i think i do remember reading that fateful incident a couple years back... and it's nice to know that durability as well as looks are indeed a quality that one will consider when getting these rims...

kinda looked at this (rear wheel wells against rear tire orientation) and figured that the body might be actually designed for a 96mm setting (presently its at the L - 94mm setting)... don't really know if the real thing is designed or supposed to look this way...

Just wanted to mention that while doing inventory recently we found a bunch of Square wheels that needed to be added to shop.tinyrc.com (http://shop.tinyrc.com/home.php). They are available now (http://shop.tinyrc.com/manufacturers.php?manufacturerid=24)! Check them out and maybe we have what you're looking for! :)

As arch has said, despite their appearance the Squares are actually very tough wheels. My current set has seen two races, and I don't see any dents; as soon as I clean the dust off they should look good as new. The thing about Squares vs. any plastic wheel is that the hub is NOT a weak spot: you might manage to nick the face or the lip if you're traveling at insane speeds outdoors, but you'll never break the outer rim from the hub, and hence you will never DNF due to breaking a wheel. All you have to do is fix the dent.

If you're considering using these as dedicated racing rims -- which is perfectly fine considering their weight and quality -- my only advice is to not glue directly to the aluminum if you want to keep your wheels looking nice. Wrap two layers of Scotch tape (translucent, standard type) around each wheel, cut off excess tape with a knife, then glue the tire to the taped rim. Also makes tire removal very easy, just rip it off. No need to cut into your rim. :)

First I painted the rims orange and remove the polish then with an ear swap. Sometimes it happens and little piece chips off. So you have to finish it again with a little brush...

I know I'm grave-digging here, but only recently stumbled upon Square rims & then a little later, this thread. I think their BBS's are my favorite, though the ones with a bunch of spokes look pretty pimp paired with the right body too. (and I typically don't like that style rim) I believe them & Team Atlas make some of the best looking Z wheels out there. I hope I can pull off as good a paint job/edge on my newly ordered set, as deanoliver did with the ones on his McLaren. :)

Actually what're on the way right now are 3R rims. I thought I'd try & paint the spokes white, leaving the lip silver, similar to how the rims are on the real Calsonic R32. Seeing the mentioned McLaren's rims painted reminded me I'd had the plan to do so a couple years ago @ this point. :p
