Heya, new to the forums. I may swing by for this, can I just watch and hang around for free or will I have to pay to get in?

Heard about the community here from seanp2k, I've been wanting to get into some sort of RC racing for a long time, preferably on-road. I messed around with X-mods back when they first came out, so I've been aware of Mini-Z's for quite some time.

I don't currently have a car, but I'd like to pick one up before too long and get involved. It's nice to live somewhere where people actually do stuff for a change :P

Deca,

Welcome to the forums and group! I'm going to have an extra car at the track tomorrow for testing purposes so I could let you play around with my car while I'm driving the second one around.

If you're one of Sean's friends I might know you too =P

Deca, you can both watch and practice for free! :) Everyone is really friendly and lots of us have extra cars which you can try and we even have a couple of shop loaners. You're lucky to find yourself in the Mini-Z capital of the world outside of Japan! :D Don't forget to use the back door - look for a black convertible w/ license plate TINY RC and you'll know you're getting close! ;) Looking forward to meeting you! :)

Thanks for being so inviting :) I had a really good time out there, huge thanks to everyone that let me have a go at their cars.

It looks like I'll be buying a rig sooner than later, the only thing standing in my way was saving for a miata, and that's been put on hold until after the holidays it seems.

I've basically settled on an mr02 with an NSX body...I'd really like the 2002 Takata Dome NSX but I know that's out of print.

By the way, what is YELLOW CORN on Maclaren GT? That is motorcycle apparel company in Japan. more info visit http://www.yellowcorn.co (sorry japanese only)

Thanks for coming D! How about holding off on the Miata until the spring, that way you've got plenty of time to build up your Z collection?! :D Not that I should be talking since I drive my 2 seater convertible all winter...

Great meeting you Okabe! :) Thanks for the Yellow Corn link; they had pics of the (real) McLaren right on the home page:

I was admiring the ZZW30 on my way in Saturday ;) I was debating between an SW20 MR2 and the Miata for quite some time...the MR2 is still in the back of my mind but the Miata just seems the better bang for my rather limited buck at present. The spyder has to be a blast to drive...I'm not positive but I may have actually been ogling it downtown a couple weeks ago, may have been someone else though.

My current gameplan is Miata -> S2000 -> Elise. We'll see how that goes, I'd love to get my hands on a Europa as a project at some point as well :)

Currently I'm having fun with my roommate's latest acquisition, a 2012 5sp Fiesta that he lets me drive on occasion. I actually drove it out to the race but ended up parked on the other side of a dumpster so I dunno if anyone saw it :p

There are two black ones in Ann Arbor AFAIK - the other one is older w/ the old-style front/rear lights (and no fogs) and IIRC the red leather interior, a fairly garish exhaust, and I think some slightly blinged rims? Mine just has the JDM front badge and is black/black/black (previous one was Black and Tan). And (hopefully not) soon, steel wheels and snow tires! When I bought my first one, I test drove everything in that class - I wasn't even considering the MR-S, but S2000s were on backorder and sooooooo cramped inside. I test drove the MR-S and bought it on the spot - none of the others were nearly as fun! And now I'm on my second one, w/ SMT, LSD, etc. - I love it even more. I don't know what I'm going to get next, as I'd need to spend like $200K to get anything else that is MR w/ SMT out of the box! I am a huge Lotus fan btw, and both my wife and dad have worked for Lotus in the past! Got to go sit in the 340R that they had in the lobby etc., though my wife (http://mini-zracer.com/forums/member.php?u=12539) got to go to the test track day that they held for customers one time...:mad::D I'm all about small, lightweight, and handling, vs. brute force, so, fully endorse Lotus' mantra! :) My Dad has had countless Miatas btw, almost as long as I can remember - though just traded his latest one in for a Jag... Really cool RE Fiesta, let us know if you bring it next time, Car Club is a big sub-group w/in our Dojo (remind me to explain "Clubs" if I haven't already) - we'll all come crowd around it like we did to Derrick's new A4 at the previous event... :D
