Started collecting in 2005 and while it's been an immensely time consuming journey, I have to say it's been a lot of fun. Wish I had know about Mini-z when they first came out, would have saved me a lot of grief.

http://www.foundrydx.com/images2/lot_021b.JPG

My very first 1/28 scale car was actually a Black Xmods Nissan Skyline R34. Shortly thereafter I discovered Mini-z and this forum and ended up picking up a White MA-010 Nissan Skyline R34. My very first Autoscale purchase was a Yellow Toyota Altezza. Ironically I don't have any of these cars at present.

The peak of my collection was probably a few months back. I've since started reducing my collection a bit to focus on just the cars I really like as it's getting difficult to keep up with the pace Kyosho is setting with the average cost of Autoscales where they are now.

Here is a quick shot of my 1/28 mini-z Autoscale collection. After all these years of collecting I realized I never took a group shot and figured this evening would be as good a time as any.

Out of the 160+ autoscales I have this is the rarest. The Honda NSX Arta Autobacs #8 2003. Only 1 of 100 made available.

I love rally cars. Slowly working to becoming complete. Just missing the two stratos at this point.

and I like the Mclaren F1...just a little bit.

This is definitely a pic I can show to my girlfriend when she complaints about "all those cars you can't stop buying"!! :D

I also have to set them to take the minimal space. My only showplace is a shelf where I have a few of them exposed. All the others are patiently waiting for their time to come.

That's funny Pierro. If your collection ever gets bigger than mine, you can point your girlfriend to lfisminiz's collection.

I show my wife his collection and say, "Man, some people are really addicted!"

Obviously I'm in total denial, hehe.

sun, been waiting for a long time to see this collection :)

fyi, it's very good to document for insurance purposes as well. god forbid anything ever happen but you will need proof of ownership to recoup some costs at least should your collection ever get damaged. i keep photo records of all my collectibles for this reason. it's impossible to keep all the receipts.

i wish i still had my daytona as well:rolleyes: sold it for dirt cheap.

I hear ya man. I have a lot of individual pics but no group shots. My collection has been sitting in this closet for 2 years. Would have been fun to do a picture from the same point every month and do a time lapse to see the ebb and flow of my collection.

I sold mine for dirt cheap as well, $25 if I remember correctly.

Impressive! I also like the Robotech/Macross collectables on the top shelf. ;) I have many of the same ones. They remind me of my childhood.

Yeah, they remind me of my childhood too.

Based on your avatar and interest in Robotech/Macross you might be interested in one of my other interests: http://www.foundrydx.com/vf1s.html

2010.12.08, 08:34 PM
wow, i've had and sold several of those for next to nothing:rolleyes:

my limited asc's are limited to a white enzo, plated bttf, and an original n.i.b. id ae86 readyset.

my daytona was the blue one. the yellow altezza was the 2nd asc i ever bought. first z was a red vitz, 3rd asci bought was the au supra then the yellow/white c5-r.

did you ever pick up any of the jpn limited releases?

Pierro

Damned!

You even have the 250 GTO. This is one I want to complete my ferrari set. When this body came out I pass on it and said to me that I'll buy it later. Couldn't be more wrong.

On my rare bodies list I have the two other mercedes (D2 and warsteiner), an interceptor from mad max, the white 911 GT3, two focus N.5, two clear mazda 787B in blue and white (only sold in Japan if I remember correctly) and the two versions of the pajero evolution for overland.

The body I misses the more since then is my first skyline calsonic on a MR01 chassis. But it helped me buying the AWD chassis that lead me to the club and the real race scene. Memories... :)

Did ASC's ever rise above say 200 a pop for some of the rarest ones? I know for a fact that say, Yamato Macross stuff can REALLY bring back a pretty penny if you're ever in a pinch. Else, pretty rad collection man.

I don't know if it is the GT 500 version. That was the first R34 in JGTC shape.
With a all right hood as opposed to the older version wich has a curved hood upon the wheel arches.

This one in fact:

@pierro
- Before I started selling off some of my skylines, the one that you had and the red equivalent were the only skylines I didn't have(aside from the super limited edition ones like the show specials etc).

@arch2b
- i did pick up some of the recent jpn limited releases but ended up selling them shortly there after. I bought them when I thought i wanted to be complete(meaning as many of the R32 as possible) but at the end of the day i realized I don't like the R32 enough to try to collect them all.
- plated BTTF! Nice piece. Was the white Enzo really a limited? I don't recall it being a numbered release but it may have been a low run. The plain Black Enzo(not the test one) is really rare but only because it was a low run as well. Can't tell if it was only available in readyset or was also offered as an ASC.

@Skv012a
- For just an autoscale, i consider it rare to go over $200. I used to keep really detailed records on rare ASC auctions about 1.5 years ago when I had the time. From my records I've only recorded three ASC's going past $200, the Original Teile, Focus #4, and Focus #5. But like I said, I think this is the exception rather than the rule. Most rare items I think top out at $150 but then again all you need is two very determined buyers to set some impressive figures. If you extend the question past autoscales and include readysets that contain rare ASC's, I've seen a few go past $200.

While we're talking about rare items, here's a list of stuff I'd like to add to my collection.

Reasonable Chance:
- Lamborghini Diablo Yellow (Glosscoat)
- Shelby Cobra Blue
- Shelby Daytona Blue
- Ferrari 250 GTO Yellow

Questionable Chance:
Mitsu Lancer Evo VII WRC

Pigs Fly Chance:
- Lamborghini Jota Black Limited Edition (1000pcs)
- Ferrari F40 Gold Plated 40th Anniversary (1000pcs)
- Ferrari F40 Silver Plated 40th Anniversary (1000pcs)
- Honda NSX Arta Autobacs #8 2003 Tokyo Motor Show (100pcs)

I'm trying to figure out what the "World Limited" means on some of the recent autoscales that are being released. Are we talking 5000, 10,000, 50,000? I'd be interesting to see learn what Kyosho thinks "limited" really means. The highest number I've seen of an official Kyosho release is the Black Murc which was 3,000...which to me, isn't really that limited but I guess it all depends on how many Kyosho normally sells for a run.

Oh...and you've got mail. ;)

I had the chance to find two black jotas NIB in a model shop near my home. One was sold on the bay and the other remains on my shelf.

The funny thing about this particular jota was that this car was a gift with a RC magazine originaly. As the magazine didn't sell much, the kit were brought back to Kyosho and later put back on the market as normal kit.

That makes these kit the most undesired limited edition kit that was made for the mini-z. :)

That's a nice find. I wish the store's near me had some limited editions just waiting for a new home!

Thanks for the backstory, I had no idea that's what happened with the Jota's. As I understand it the Jota Autoscale was offered with the magazine. You're saying Kyosho took them back and offered them to their network as readysets? That would explain why I've seen both an autoscale version and a readyset version. Also, just out curiousity, does your's have a number plate 53 of 1000 for example?

Pierro
2010.12.13, 07:07 AM
I'll ask back two friends of the club who tell me this story cause I don't know if they offered it as an autoscale or a ready set with the magazine.
My kit is a normal ready set except it has the numered plate on the low right corner of the car base.

I was trully amazed that these show up in this shop. It was time for the 2.4 LM cars and they had this old MR01 ready set like a normal one. Our French importer FDL has sometimes weird reactions about the Z.

I would also like to know about the mcqueen. From the yellow packaging it looks like a R246 body but I can't seem to find any info about it. Please do share. My youngest son LOVES the movie and has seen it probably more than 100 times. I would love to have that body to race around for him.

Regarding the Arta....
I have a friend in Japan that I bother once a year for special purchases. Needless to say, it seems I've bothered him already for this year. :)

Regarding Lightning....
It's from a very limited edition R246 release in Japan in conjunction with Disney.

J/K :)

It's actual a body from a toy. I intend to do a full write up in the near future with some details so stay tuned. It does fall under the perfect fit category.

Hello Soul,
It's very pleasing to see so many rarities in one collection.
I didn't even know the existence of the Arta NSX 2003!
A very inspiring collection! Thanks a lot.

btw I like your Macross-Gundam-Eva in lego Project too
I was a fan of Roy's VF-1S and Hikaru's VF-1J when I was kid.

After reminiscing over the 15 year mark of joining this forum, I'd figure I'd post pics of my collection at the end of 2019 before the Great Reduction of 2020 to support other hobbies and projects. There's just under 200 here(another row on the bottom out of view) from over 15 years of fun collecting. I actually had more at one point which I'm both embarrassed and proud of at the same time.

I think I was at this ore more at some point as well. I really do miss the collection however trying to grow less attached to 'things' as the years go by so learned to live and let go. I do miss it but at the same time, I don't have the worry about space, etc.

thanks for sharing the walk down memory lane.

Yeah I came to a similar conclusion. Too much and too many things just sitting in a closet sadly. No fun in that so I'm down to a much smaller group of just my favorites although I'll probably reduce further.

Now I just need to find a way to display some of these in way that doesn't get UV damaged cuz those old white autoscales will turn yellow in 5 seconds.
