Cool, a Readyset that includes the KT-18 in all black. I wonder how this 2.4ghz mr-02 chassis differs from the other mr-02 chassis?

http://www.kyosho.de/epaper/kyo-de/index.html#/16

I hope they can hit the right price point. Convincing folks to buy a $180 MR-03 and $80 KT-18 can be difficult.

Yes indeed! Here in Bulgaria this scale gained popularity over the last year.. The guys are enthusiastic about Mini-z at first and then start looking around for some cheap alternative. In the end most of them buy XMods (if they ever come to buying something in this scale).

Anyone have an idea what these should sell for? The AM Readyset's use to be $169. The TX-less 2.4ghz mr-02 LM cars they sold for a while were $139.

So one of those with a $79 KT-18 and we're talking $219 ish. Hopefully they can do $199. It would be $30 more than the AM Readyset but you get 2.4ghz. That seems to be the going rate for AM kits that move to 2.4ghz in the RTR segment.

 am i the only one confused by this package? are they trying to sell out the remaining mr-02's? why bundle a tx with an mr-02 at this point? it's like making a jscc i-series chassis.

Will they be selling the black chassis seperately from the TX as well?

An 03 bundle would be nice! I guess this is a step in the right direction though. A bundle with a UR-5 would be ideal.

Although 2.4 has been great it seems it has definately made getting in to the hobby a bit pricey for some, possibly hindering growth of the hobby.

Kyosho are stopping AM cars. These will be the replacement for the current I series model. Basically an entry level mini-z.

Since they aren't making the AM cars anymore, they needed a readyset at a lower price point than the combination of an MR-03 and KT-18.

My only question is, is this the current 2.4ghz board from the MR-02 with the annoying reverse delay or is it the mr-03 board (with perhaps the gyro connector removed)?

Judging by the picture in the link in the first post, it is not an MR03 board, and has the same layout as the original MR02 ASF board. I would assume that they would use the standard MR02 board.

It's my understanding that it IS an MR02 asf car.

If only they could let you program out that reverse delay like you can with an MR-03.

I hope the price is low enough to get people to buy mini-zs again.

love to see it at the 150 range.

Doesn't look like it'll be that low. I think the price is going to be $179 or $189. Maybe as low as $169 with "add to cart" pricing (below MAP)

and am i to understand this is for a black kt-18 tx and black chassis mr02?

could have hoped that they put the 03 board in it... or at least improved the electronics in minimizing the delay in going into reverse

Yes. We can expect this mr-02ex to run about $179 in the hobby shops. It'll be a full readyset and include the all black kt-18 and the black chassis mr-02. Unfortunantly they are using the existing mr-02 2.4ghz boards so there is the reverse delay.

Just to give everyone an idea they are selling bodyless chassis/transmitter sets for 9,000 yen and complete readysets for 12,000 yen. These officially went on sale yesterday, March 31.

Kyosho America is expecting kits in about 3 weeks. You'll see US stores have them in stock shortly afterwards.

Also, expect prices for the full readyset to be about $179-$189

looks like i missed that one... :D
it is a good thing that they fixed it (if that's what it really means)

pricewise from the blog and the kyosho official site....
MR-02EX complete rtr (body, chassis, and tx) 16,275 yen is approx 191US$
chassis set & tx - 12,600 yen = 148US$.

while iruninsoga reports sales in japan as of march 31...
complete rtr set is 12,000 yen approx 140US$
chassis & tx set is 9,000 yen approx 105US$

which i think is pretty cool... if you're in japan... :D
dunno what pricing will be like in the US though...

talking to Kyo USA yesterday as they have a demo kit (not sure it's functional) but they have the full box, etc. and no changes to mr-02 board that they are aware of.

EMU
2011.04.14, 04:47 PM
Is it a hardware function of the board? If not, adding, or adjusting an ICS setting is all that would be needed. If they can flash a new ICS program that has this adjustment without changing the board, perhaps we can flash our old MR02, or send them in to get flashed. After not driving an MR02 board for a while, I drove one this weekend... and felt that the reverse is just a tiny bit too long to engage.

Hi Guys,

The bunch of us at atomic collective singapore had a go with the MR02EX today.

We had 5 cars running box stock and I should say...... back to good old times.

Best lap time was done on http://mzrc.blogspot.com track layout (MAY) and we manage to hit a 7.5 secs out of the stock car.

The chassis and the controller is black and I noted a change in the board.

The previous version was RA-18 for the MR02 2.4 but for the MR02EX is it running on a RA-18E.

The delay for the reverse is very much improved although there is still a slight delay but I should say... good enough and very much improved from the previous MR02 2.4.

:) Hope to see more guys with the EX .......

Thank you for confirming they improved the reverse delay. Now I can recommend these without any hesitation.

Were you racing on RCP or carpet? Are the include tires worth anything or do they need to be replaced?

ACT
2011.05.14, 12:36 PM
We were running it on RCP.

Tires bundled on the car were slicks 30 fronts and slick 30 rears for the lambo as the aston martin it's 40 fronts and 40 rears.

We did swap out the tires to get better steering. Other than that nothing else was changed,
