Well, with a heavy heart that I am letting the few of you know that NCRC Racing will no longer be in existence by the end of February. This includes us NOT doing the ALS Charity Race in October.

There are a lot of factors playing into this and we’d rather go out on a high note from last year’s event.

Soo….we have divested our track pieces and equipment between a local county supported father/son activity as well as selling off the remainder to Mike Keely, Matt Ward and Mimi.

Only a couple of us now have our MiniZ’s to race and I know that when the time comes around this fall we will feel a little bit empty. Hopefully you will see some of us around the local racing scene.

Yes, this is sad news but after some long discussions it is the right thing for our club.

Best Regards,
Russ

Wow sorry to hear it! The ALS race was my first out of town adventure 3 years ago.

I must say the 2 events I attended where top notch and I still proudly sport my NCRC T-shirts.

Hope to see out some time. Take care

Aww, sorry to hear that R! :( My daughter learned to read from my NCRC shirt! When she was ~18 months she pointed at the C and said "C"! :D We were always extremely happy to support the ALS race and it's too bad we won't get an opportunity to do so again this year...:(

Very sad news indeed, but lets hope we can come up with other big races to pull everyone together from near and far at least once a year. i missed this year's ALS, so this announcement makes me wish that i didn't so much more.

Russ,
This is really sad news, when it was such a great cause. I am so sorry that I did not get the chance to take part in such a wonderfull event.
All the hard work that you guys put into the event will trully be missed.
Good luck in all your future endeavors.

Hello EVERYONE,

I was looking back at this blog and realized that many of you think the ALS Race is gone. NOT TRUE.

NCRC Racing is gone but the ALS Charity Race LIVES ON. Mimi and Gary Thomas will be taking the baton and I will be working with them to get things going. Date has not been set yet, but I would imagine that they would make it loud and clear when it is.

Keep a look out for posts elsewhere.

I hope you all are doing well.

Russ

Awesome... Big bucket of coolness! Let me be the first to suggest a box stock class for the next ALS Race. :)

I don't think very many people own box stock cars?

I will most likely be the one contacting Mimi about this race. This race will be my welcome back to Mini-Z's after the nitro season is up. Does anyone have any thoughts of having it early in Nov. this year? What are the classes we should run? If we have it at Mimi's it will most likely be a one day event. We could set the track up on Friday and race on Sat. Please let me know your thoughts. Russ, do you think your guy will be willing to call the races again? Thanks MK

Ok, bearings and rubber tires (of preferred durometer), but you must run stock plastic wheels and stock plastic kyosho RTR gear only... also, un-fetted boards and stock motors.

Never seen this done at an event before... just curious to see how many would be into it. I'm sure many of us have a box of stripped off stock plastic laying around collecting dust.

I wouldnt mind the following classes
2WD Modified (Any manufacturer or motor)
2wd Stock (reflex 70 turn motor)
AWD Superstock (Atomic stock yellow label or pn 50 turn)
F1 modified

Let me know opinions

I would say stick to the classic ALS race classes... 70t handout stock, GT mod, F1 open, 1/18th

assuming this will be hosted by mimi, i wonder if it will bring more participation to 1:18 thus larger audience to see mini-z racing.

I hope that 1:18 continues. It has always brought a worthwhile number of cars.

I can't say any of the other folks from NCRC will be in attendance. But if there are cool prizes you can bet that we will buy raffle tickets!

Keely - I have passed on a bunch of information to Gary Thomas and Mimi so please get in touch with them to keep this thing moving.

Ironic, I get out of RC Racing and then my new work is all about brushless motors! DOH

Cheers!

Reflex Racing has put up 1/3rd of the cost that Mimi has set for us to rent the track for the ALS Race Friday and Saturday. This way everyones entry fee will go to ALS. (Just so you know, it is not a high fee that she is asking for.) Mimi is going to Kyosho trying to get 1/3rd from them. Gary and I will split the other 1/3rd. As soon as we get this settled we should be able to schedule this for Nov. Look forward to seeing everyone again. Thanks MK

Mike,
This is great to hear that it is still coming together. Our church is still available if plans fall through. I'll be saving my money for raffle tickets as well. Did you get the hook up from AutoArt for the trophies?

Later,
Russ

Please don't let this one fold. It may be too late for this year but maybe as an "ice breaker" for next year?

I'll help all I can.

Mike,

I hope not but it is in the hands of Keely and Co. Maybe the thread is on another blog?

Happy Holidays,
Russ
